What a difference a haircut makes! Sean Preston and Jayden James Federline sheared off their signature bowl haircuts and sported some pretty darn cute crew cuts this weekend! The brothers, 3 and 2, spent some time poolside with their mother Britney Spears at the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Ray. The blond boys soaked up the sun and swam while wearing baseball caps and swimmies. Now that their locks have been cropped, we got the first good look at their gorgeous lil faces. Taking the Fear Out of Baby's First Budget Haircut

The first cut may be the deepest, but it doesn't have to be painful for mother or child. Taking the plunge and giving your lil one their first haircut is a momentous occasion for new parents. Though tradition says to wait until the first year before snipping away the baby curls, 22 percent of lilsugar readers clipped before their child's birthday. Take your tot to the salon with you so she will recognize the spray of the water bottle, the shine of the scissors and the combs and brushes that will be used for her cut.
Prepare your kiddo by talking about how he will be getting a haircut like Mommy and Daddy.
Plan the cut for a time when your child is well rested and in a good mood. First thing in the morning or right after a nap and snack are usually ideal.
Enlist the help of a friend or family member to entertain or distract the child during the process. A high chair may be a good seating option.
Give your child some toys or a spray bottle and turn on a video or the music he likes to keep him entertained.
Wet the child's hair with a spray bottle and comb the hair in the natural direction of growth.
Pull small sections of hair between your index and middle fingers, cutting the hair below the fingers in a straight line.
Start in the back of the head and then work your way around to the front as you gain confidence.
Cut small amounts first, knowing you can go back and cut more as needed.
Be prepared to take small breaks to play with the child throughout the process.
Invest in a pair of clippers that will only lop off a certain amount.

For the Beckham boys, grooming is a family affair. Sugardaddy David and his lil cutie, Cruz, rocked awesome matching haircuts today. The father and son showed off their new alternative 'dos while shopping in Hollywood with Brooklyn and Romeo, who sported ball caps. We're not sure if we like the style better on the older, more chiseled Beckham or his adorable, chubby-cheeked mini me. If the twosome really want to look like twins, David should have Cruz teach him some break-dancing moves and the tot should slap on a few temporary tattoos.

When Did You Cut Your Child's Hair?

My daughter has a fluffy head of super fine hair that still has a bit of baby curl so I can't bring myself to cut it. On the other hand, we've had my son's strands sheared since he was ten-months-old and as a result he looked a lot less like a baby and more like a big boy.

Some mamas cannot bear to trim their lil one's locks - when did you give clipper consent?

You may covet your favorite celeb's hairstyle, but if the 'do doesn't fit your face shape, you're likely to be disappointed. If you were born with an oblong or oval-shaped face, you share your facial structure with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, and Jada Pinkett Smith. This extremely versatile face shape allows you to pull off almost any look: short, long, straight or wavy. It's not so much the length you choose that matters; it's more about the feature you want to emphasize. If it's your cheekbones, for instance, try layering chin-length hair so that it falls right at your cheeks and chin, like SJP's at left. This will create the illusion of width, which waves and curls will only emphasize.

To emphasize your shoulders and neck, you'll want longer hair that falls below your collarbone. Make sure to cut your hair in long layers, especially around your face.

Long bangs are also great for you because they create more width to your longer face.

The only style that you'll really want to avoid is super-short layers on the top of your head. This style isn't the most flattering and will make your face appear too long. If your hair is really thick and curly, try to stay away from a blunt bob or you may end up looking like a pyramid.

If you have a full, round face, you share your facial structure with Gwyneth Paltrow, Oprah Winfrey, Kate Bosworth, Cameron Diaz, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The shape is characterized by a round chin and lack of sharp angles. Round faces tend to be wider at the cheeks, with softer shaping along the jawline and forehead. Round faces need balance, which can be achieved with hairstyles that make the face appear longer.

Soft, long layers are also pretty because they the appearance of a longer and slimmer face. The layers also reduce bulk and heaviness from the sides.

Bangs are flattering, but keep them long or side-swept. Go for wispy and tapered ends to de-emphasize the roundness of your face.

Try and stay away from blunt cuts if you have short hair. These only emphasize your round face.

Are free haircuts for the unemployed a new trend? Last weekend, Christiano Cora salon in New York was offering gratis cuts to people who've lost their jobs, and I've heard stories about other stylists offering similar assistance. Since salons are one of the first businesses to suffer in an economic downturn, it makes sense that they'd be reaching out to their communities more - the stylists have some free time, and helping people now makes them loyal to you once they do get a job - but I still think it's a very kind gesture. Have you heard about free haircuts or deep salon discounts for people who've been laid off or hard-hit by the recession? And would you avail yourself of something like this?

Does Your Haircut Fall Into a Category?

HerCut, a soon-to-be-launched line of haircare products, distinguishes itself in the market by offering products by haircut, not hair type. Many of you said you'd be interested in the concept, but were concerned that the line seems to forgo texture, an important element in styling. (More about my experience in trying HerCut later.) Should Women Pay More For a Haircut Than Men?

An equality organization in Finland is attempting to fine salons for discriminatory prices in haircuts between men and women. And I, for one, am all for it! I pay $65 for a simple haircut when some of my male friends pay up to $30 less. According to the proposal, prices can vary depending on how much time the client is in the chair and how much product is used in her-or his-hair.

In my opinion, that makes complete sense. The price should be determined by the length of the hair and the difficulty of the procedure, not by gender. It's doubtful that such a strict restriction would ever be implemented in the United States, but it begs the question: Should women pay more for a haircut than men?
