This week was Paris Haute Couture Week, where the famed fashion houses of France show their most extravagant creations. I rounded up the most outstanding hairstyles (and some makeup - I couldn't resist) to give you a report on what's coming. There was a lot of texturized volume, and also a lot of sleek styling - I wonder which trends will make it into magazines and onto celebs? Whichever one wins out, I'm feeling inspired for Fall already.

On Our Radar: Schiaparelli Auction

Whilst the Schiaparelli revival talks continue, forty of her classic pieces are preparing to be auctioned in Paris. Many of the pieces, including this shocking-pink and black dress, are from the 1930s and will be sold alongside pieces by Jean Patou, Gabrielle Chanel and Christian Dior.

The sale will take place in Paris on 3rd July at Drouot-Richelieu auction house. There will be items from the key eras of fashion from 1920s to 1980s.

If you're not familiar with Schiaparelli's designs, she was an important factor in the development of 20th century fashion. She is widely credited with creating shocking pink and produced surreal dresses inspired by Salvador Dali, like the shoe-hat or the lobster dress.

Froth and Fragrance: John Galliano Launches Debut Scent

Forget endless ruffles, pin-tucking and hand-stitching – British designer and master of couture, John Galliano, has admitted that it actually takes longer to create a signature fragrance, than a couture creation.

He tells WWD: "We had about 360 tests - more than for a couture collection...we were trying to capture the essence of the Galliano girl."

Galliano, who is also the couturier at Christian Dior, is known for his wildly romantic, often fairytale-esque designs, and wanted to translate this mood to fragrance.

Influences for Galliano's inaugural fragrance include, the artist Baldini, the paint and powder atmosphere backstage at fashion shows, childhood memories of freshly ironed shirts and Galliano's signature, frothy dresses.

The beautiful bottles themselves, are inspired by his love of collage, WWD reports. While the outer packaging resembles a piece of romantic fiction, though perhaps more Flaubert than Mills & Boon.

The fragrance will be launched at the end of September in the UK. Until then, I guess I'll just have to console myself with a purple leather suit, from Dior's Autumn/winter collection. Well, I do like the smell of leather...

Trend Alert: Bright Lights, Bold Colour

This is the sumer of bright, bold colours and look-at-me makeup. Think peacock blue, cream eyeshadow, with cerise cheeks and raspberry lips.

At the Haute Couture shows, makeup artists were like magpies for the bright stuff – there were red berry lips at Valentino, lime and yellow eyeshadow at Dior and painted-ladies with purple eyes and bright red lips at Christian Lacroix. A sign that sizzling shades are here to stay.

Here's my top five bright products to get you started – just don't wear them all at once!

Mavala, (£3.75), nail polish in Romantic. A bold, coral pink that looks good on toes.
Maybelline Dream Mousse Eye Shadow, (£5.99), in Fabulous Turquoise. This is one of the best cream shadows around. Very long-lasting too.

Lancome Juicy Tube,(£9.50), in Fraise. A sticky, sweet lip gloss with an orangey-peach colour. Young and fun.
Revlon Renewist Lip Colour, in Cherry Desirable. A special moisture-boosting formula and SPF 15 make this a great colour buy.
MAC nail polish in Phosphor, (£8), a bumble bee yellow with a slight lime sparkle. Slightly putrid, very Dior Haute Couture.
Rimmel Colour Rush Eyeshadow, (£3.99), in Intense. A very deep, moody purple, as at Lacroix. Intense!
Nars blush, (£18.50), in Exhibit A. For exhibitionists only. A bright red blush for rosy, catwalk cheeks.

Christian Siriano Red and Purple Ruffle Dress: Love It or Hate It?

Last night, on Make Me a Supermodel, fierce Project Runway winner Christian Siriano showed up and gave the remaining models catwalk and styling tips. He didn't come empty handed though. He brought with him a present for Holly: a high-neck, red and purple ruffle dress similar to his ombré frock from Project Runway's New York Fashion Week runway show. The judges didn't think Holly commanded presence in the frock, and I agree. Still the signature Christian dress is simultaneously loud and graceful, just the way I take my haute couture. Are you smitten?

A lot of confusion often surrounds the term 'couture' and what is actually refers to. Here is a brief description to understanding the highest skill in the fashion industry.
The term Haute Couture refers to custom-made clothes. It originates from the French meaning, "high sewing" and usually refers to extremely high end womens-wear. In the modern day it is mainly used to define a section of the fashion industry that uses the custom-making business as a platform to explore new styles and push the boundaries of specialized dressmaking and tailoring.

Emily Joins Dita, Mischa, Kanye and Lou For Fashion in Paris

Fashion-loving celebrities continued to lap up all the haute couture in Paris yesterday, with show buddies Dita Von Teese, Kanye West and Mischa Barton sitting front and centre for the Elie Saab show. Kanye also saw Givenchy alongside Anna Wintour and then watched Jean Paul Gaultier's collection alongside Lou Doillon and Kylie Minogue, while Emily Blunt was at Valentino. I'm looking forward to seeing the fashion pack on our shores when London Fashion Week kicks off on 20 Feb.

Kylie's Got Plenty to Smile About at Jean Paul Gaultier Show

Kylie Minogue was full of smiles at her friend and tour costume designer Jean Paul Gaultier's haute couture show in Paris yesterday. Life is treating Kylie pretty well at the moment, with her model boyfriend reportedly looking to buy a flat in London to be near to her. She's also managed to impress her two-year-old nephew by recording a song with The Wiggles, a kids' music group in Australia, and her mechanical bull-riding 2001 Agent Provocateur lingerie short has been voted best cinema ad.

Dita, Mischa, Marion and Kanye Say Oui to Haute Couture

Fans of fashion are descending on the French capital once more for the Spring Haute Couture shows, with a gaggle of celebs turning out for the fantasy-filled John Galliano collection at the Christian Dior show at Musee Rodin yesterday. Dita Von Teese and Marion Cotillard embraced silver and grey, reminiscent of the colour du jour at the Paris Fashion Week shows last autumn, while Kanye West combined different textures and Mischa Barton stood out in yellow: do you love or hate her beauty look?

Dita will be staying in Paris as she's performing her burlesque act plus songs at the Crazy Horse, but Mischa and her big hat left France for England last night, arriving in London in time to snuggle up with her new boyfriend, The Kooks' Luke Pritchard.
