Nasty Gal Crown of Feathers: Love It or Hate It?

I'm a big believer in the power of accessories, but when I came across this Nasty Gal's Crown of Feathers ($18), I was hesitant. My instinct tells me this whimsical headband is likely to overpower any ensemble, regardless of my childhood fantasy to be a princess. So, while this is certainly one way to experiment with feathers, it just isn't for me. I'm still on the hunt for a more wearable way to get the look. What about you?

Rainy weather didn't stop Emma Watson from looking fresh-faced and chic at the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. In fact, the loose updo style, complemented with braids and a red hair accent, is perfect for beating warm-weather humidity.

Now, I realize many of you might be sick of hearing about braids and headbands, two trends that have been popular for some time thanks to the ladies of The Hills and Gossip Girl, but you've got to appreciate how Emma turned the look into something fresh. These Headbands Will Have You Feeling Zippy

The zippered clothing and accessories trend has been going strong for quite some time. Take, for instance, contemporary artist Cat Chow’s designs, whose fabrics are often intermingled with everyday items like corks, dollar bills, and even zippers. It probably comes as no surprise that now this style is popping up in the hair accessories category.

Earlier this year, I mentioned the $20 Urban Outfitters Zipper Flower Headband (middle photo) in my April must haves, and now, it looks like two other ones have joined the mix, at both higher and lower price points. Hooray. For a low-cost option, try the $6 Forever 21 Zipper Trim Flower Headband (on the left), and for a little bit of a splurge, check out the $39 Bebe Zipper Flower Headband (photo on right).

Paris Hilton is heating things up in the hair department at the Cannes Film Festival. First we saw her cutting a rug in a pretty purple Alice band at a party on Sunday night and then she sported a silver, eye-shade looking accessory on Monday at the Hollywood Dominos party. On Tuesday, Paris cooled off in the pool wearing turquoise jeweled headwear and at night, she wore a gold band to a fashion party before changing into a crystal hippie-style Alice band to celebrate her documentary flim Paris, Not France. I wonder if the borrowed it from bestie Nicole Richie? Which one of these hair accessories do you think looks the coolest in Cannes?

Who Wears the Metallic Headband Best?

While we're still seeing everything from satiny flowers to wispy feathers (hello, Gossip Girl), metallic headbands are also ruling the fashion scene. Although we haven't seen Mischa Barton wearing her signature style as of late, she does carry a line of headbands in collaboration with accessories designer Stacey Lapidus. As for the hair accessories business, Mischa's not alone. Nicole Richie's House of Harlow 1960 collection includes metallic headpieces, which she told Pop were her favorite of the line. Then there's Paris Hilton. She has her perfume line to keep her busy, but that doesn't stop her sporting this Grecian-like adornment in sparkly silver tones. When it comes to this metallic headband trend, which gal does it best - or are you ready to just put this shimmery look behind us already?

We've certainly seem some interesting head gear recently, so it doesn't surprise me that fashionista Nicole Richie arrived at the Jenni Kayne and Andy Lecompte Salon Party in Los Angeles dressed from head to toe like a Greek goddess. I think this Alice band/hair piece is quite unique, stylish and elegant. She's managed to give it a slightly bohemian feel pairing it with flowy attire and unkempt waves. Love It or Hate It? Lily Allen's Leafy Alice Band

Yesterday on the snow-filled streets of Mayfair, Lily Allen shopped at Chanel and Dover Street Market wearing a rather large leaf-inspired Alice band. It looks like this snuggly accessory could either be made out of felt or cashmere, and I can certainly see the draw on such a cold, winter day. Lily paired her headdress with black kohl-rimmed eyes and a blunt-cut fringe. What do you think of her applique Alice band?

Which Headband Do You Like Best on Victoria Beckham?

Victoria Beckham sure is favouring the fashion of Alice Bands and I can absolutely see why. They're easy to wear, they're fabulous for when your hair isn't cooperating, and they're a stylish accessory. Ever since she went to dinner at Beso in November, she's been spotted wearing them around the world from Milan to Dubai and London.

My favourite headband for evening is the red one since it's so ornate and unique, and for daytime, I prefer the simple, black, double-strapped elastic band. Out of these three Alice bands, which one do you like the most?
