Group Therapy: Should I Say Anything?

I'm interested in fitness and health so I gave her a few suggestions, but her eating habits could use some more work.

I know that losing weight is a delicate subject so I don't want to offend her by offering anymore unwanted advice, but she keeps complaining about how the scale never budges. Should I say anything or should I just mind my own business?

Group Therapy: I'm Concerned About My Mental Health

I feel like I've been mildly depressed for the last few years, but I'm not sure. A few times a year, I always hit a super low point where I constantly cry. Eventually the sobbing turns to hyperventilation, and I end up a wreck on the floor having terrible thoughts. During these episodes, I can hardly control myself. I've never sought help before because I figured most of the time I'm OK; I don't want to make a big deal out of nothing. I also feel like a perpetual adolescent because I can't deal with things like an adult (I'm 21, and I'm sure I've been acting this way since I was 13), and I'm afraid my problems will just be dismissed if I do go to the doctor.

How is one diagnosed with clinical depression or other mental health conditions? Do they recommend therapy? Drugs? Or if I go to my school counselor, what advice could they possibly give me that I haven't already heard? Does anyone who's been through this before have advice on overcoming it?

Group Therapy: How Can I Make a Fresh Start With My Life?

I want tomorrow to be the beginning of a fresh new me! I used to be a very healthy and happy person but a few months ago I started eating badly, binging, smoking, and not exercising; basically, I just didn't take care of myself. I want to start over. I want to get rid of all the junk in my house, and I want to start exercising properly, with both cardio and strength training. I want to learn to just say no to sugary food and drinks; I want to learn self-discipline; I want to feel pretty again. I miss the old, happy, healthy me.

I want to get my life back on track, and I really need some advice. I must admit, it's not as bad as I make it sound, but I do need some tips on how to start this process. Does anybody have any they can share?
Group Therapy: Thinking about living alone...but afraid it will get too lonely, need your thoughts!

Hi everyone! I am 23 and will be starting graduate in the fall. I have always lived with roommates (in college and the year after) that were friends. But this time, going to grad school it is different and living with friends isn't really going to work out. I started thinking about living alone while apartment hunting and I keep going over the pros and cons but can't decide. I don't know how I feel about doing the whole living with a stranger thing and becoming friends. It reminds me of the dorms freshman year of college and it is very hit or miss. I know grad school will be challenging so having a place all to myself will definitely be a plus. Also, in the past I have had several small yet annoying fights over living with people. I think living by myself would be so relaxing and stress free. On the other hand, I am afraid I will get lonely.
Any advice? Do any of you girls live alone or have in the past?

Group Therapy: Anorexic/ bulimic

Dear Popsugar community,

How many of you out there suffer from anorexia and bulimia? This has been a problem of mine for some years now and it's become engraved in my everyday life.

Therapists say that 70% of sufferes do recover, but they must be exaggerating because I haven't seen any improvements. For me it started off being about wanting to achieve the supermodel stick-thin figure (i've always been slim but just wanted to be slimmer) and hey presto! Here I am bone skinny, but now the issues surounding food is more to do with my self-esteem and anxieties. So these root problems need to be tackled first before the secondary eating problem.

Any advice?

Group Therapy: How do you handle PMS?

All of a sudden, I drop a glass, and start crying at what a klutz I am, Or I'm watching a commercial and a dog appears, and I'm sad because I no longer have a dog. Things that normally have no effect on me leave me in tears, then laughing at how unreasonable I'm being. I realize a lot of women go through this, so whats the best way to handle it? Especially when I'm working...or out with friends?

Group Therapy: A little follow-up

I posted this yesterday (http://dearsugar.com/227360) and I'd like to get a little follow-up advice.

The notorious complainer has now written a letter to our boss, saying that i was unreasonable, disrespectful, and insensitive to her disabilities, she then made up an incident in which i was reprimanded by a member of senior management for my treatment of her. All other feedback can only be described as glowing. Our boss let me know that it's nothing that they're concerned about (i am in absolutely NO trouble) but they wanted me to know.

She has been avoiding me all day, in this really awkward, obvious way. How on earth am I supposed to deal with her in a professional capacity when she's behaving as if we were in high school, and dragging my good name through the mud?

She was so out of line...

I work with a woman who is a notorious complainer, known to get out of doing her work due to many "medical conditions". It's something that we've all gotten used to, but she's really crossed the line this time.

I'm the administrative assistant at an insurance company, but I work in the department with social workers and family therapists. I do my job well and have a spotless reputation when entrusted with large projects. Last Wednesday I was asked to handle general registration for a large event that was held today. I was given a week to pull together a huge project, with a staff of my own for the first time, and it was nearly flawless, except for the complainer.

She was assigned to work under me, but took breaks without asking, then complained about not getting a full break. She whined to anyone within the company that she wanted to participate in the events, but was stuck working, and alluded to me being unreasonable. Her everything hurt due to the giving-out-materials stress on her body. I finally took my first 10 minute break after 3 hours and 45 minutes on my feet, making things run like a machine, and she found the person assisting me to let them know it was fine for her to go, alluded to me okaying it, and disappeared. The details were a little sketchy.

I am livid. She has done quite a number of inappropriate things that can mostly be chalked up to her absolute and complete lack of social skills. This is too much, I take pride in my job and this can't stand. I'm too mad to talk to her now, but when I calm down, how do i get my point across without getting fired?

P.S. It's Administrative Professionals Day. If you have one, thank them for being awesome.

Instead of Feeling Guilty For Indulging, Get Back on Track

The holidays can be pretty indulgent - decadent meals, cocktail parties, and dessert after dessert to savor. Add to that stressful gift shopping, holidays spent away for home, and workouts being replaced with entertaining and suddenly you've gotten completely off track with your health.

Before you beat yourself up for having that second piece of pumpkin pie, take a deep breath and tell yourself it's OK. We've all been there - instead of punishing yourself over it, make a commitment to get back on track now. In fact, punishing yourself can have potentially harmful results - a study found that women who feel guilty over missing workouts are more likely to develop eating disorders.

To see my tips on staying healthy during the holidays, read more.

After a big meal, go for a brisk walk. Encourage your friends and family to join you too!

Don't deprive yourself during the holidays, as this may lead to overindulging later. Treat yourself to a healthy dessert on the weekends like these pumpkin bars.

Try limiting yourself to one drink a cocktail party or dinner. If you do have more than one drink, alternate between water and alcohol, and opt for sparkling wine, it has way less calories than a cocktail.

If you do fall off the health wagon, schedule time to start exercising again. The holidays are hectic and making an exercise schedule will help keep you committed and motivated.

Find a workout buddy this holiday season. Exercising and staying fit is easier if you have someone in your corner rooting you on.

If you're worried about overdoing it at a holiday dinner, have a healthy snack like an apple or a handful of nuts before you go. This will help fill you up and reduce cravings.

If you really don't have time to exercise during this hectic season find small ways to be active. Use the stairs when you go shopping and park your car as far away from the store entrance as you can so you walk further.

If you do start to obsess over falling off the health bandwagon, limit your freak out time to ten minutes and then let it go.
