Admittedly, my musical taste veers toward masculine players. My favorite genre is rock, and though some females definitely rock (Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks, Chrissie Hynde, Janis!), most of my favorites are male bands. But when I discovered the sister duo that is Heart, I found female refuge. The Wilson sisters - Ann the brunette, Nancy the blonde - were so cool. I love to watch live performances of theirs from the '70s. This is one of my favorites songs and who can forget it blasting during one of the best scenes in The Virgin Suicides?! Oh, Trip Fontaine . . . Note Nancy's awesome guitar intro in her sparkly peach wrap dress. Then Ann takes the stage in her blue dress with silver stars and heart mirror pin. Style and substance, wish I'd been a Wilson sister . . .

I know you like to kiss and make out because it's an expression of how much you care about someone (and it feels good too!), but getting intimate can also be good for your heart and your health. I wouldn't equate it with going for a run, but things you do with your partner are definitely considered exercise. Remember that anything that uses your muscles or burns calories makes you strong and keeps your weight down, but intimacy is also good for your cardiovascular system because it gets your heart pumping. The Card Shop: You Float My Boat Card

You can never go wrong with a well-designed gocco print card, tagged with a catch phrase or a classic pun. That's why the Paper Wren You Float My Boat Card ($3.50) is just my style. I'm loving the somewhat retro teal anchors and ships; they've got me mouthing "Ahoy There"! Plus, the chartreuse color of the hearts makes any love-dovey notions a notch less saccharine sweet. I also might add that I've always been keen on the folksy tone of "You float my boat." What do you think? Would you mind if this card sailed your way?

Come Fab Finding With Me: Anniversary Dinner

Here's a hypothetical situation: You've been with your man for seven years and have celebrated your anniversaries in all sorts of crazy ways. New Approach to CPR Saves More Lives

Many of you have been trained in CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation), so I thought you would be interested in this new approach to the technique. Now emergency medical workers may be using a new approach to CPR called MICR. It stands for "minimally interrupted cardiac resuscitation" and it focuses on increasing blood flow to the heart and brain. This new method can triple the rate of survival for heart attack victims treated in "out-of-hospital" situations.

MICR should only be administered by trained professionals and it involves more than just chest compressions. It involves an initial series of 200 uninterrupted chest compressions and then the victim receives a shock. Then another set of 200 chest compressions is given. If there's still no pulse, the workers will give the victim a shot of epinephrine to stimulate the heart. Then they'll insert a flexible plastic tube into the trachea to help ventilate the lungs.

The success of this new method is great news since cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. Each year about 88,000 women, aged 45 to 64, suffer from a heart attack. The best way to take care of your heart is to exercise regularly (cardio is essential), don't smoke, eat a healthy diet that's low in sodium, cholesterol, and saturated fat, and try to limit the amount of stress in your life. Remember that it's never too early to start taking care of your heart.
