Heidi Montag of The Hills might not be smiling at her former pal Lauren Conrad, but you'd never know there's an ounce of tension judging from this happy photo here. Her wide smile and pink-toned makeup are friendly and sweet. But, the intense, thick black liner lets us know that she's got a bit of an edge (as do those huge earrings).

Trend Alert: New Year, Long Waves
OK, I know it's nothing all that earth-shattering since long waves have been in fashion long before the Farrah Fawcett days. But this New Year's Eve, it was all about the soft cascading curl. Whether it was a more-refined look like Ashlee Simpson and Eva Longoria Parker or tousled and undone à la Molly Sims and Chloë Sevigny, the look was still sexy — and a little more inspired than pin-straight locks.

The Pratts Touch Down & Their Real Engagement Hits the Hills
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt arrived back in LA after a quick trip to the East Coast. While the happy couple stayed occupied smiling for the cameras and twittering away, we got to watch Spencer's sweet, "official" proposal to Heidi, complete with a ring on The Hills last night. Meanwhile, there was the usual dose of gossipy lunch sessions, hot outfits, cool gadgets, and flawless hair and makeup.
