While Miranda Kerr took her high-waisted black shorts on a tropical vacation, Lauren Conrad wore hers out on the town with an Alexander Wang top. It goes to show how versatile high-waisted black shorts are. They can weather extreme heat and go party hopping with you, too!

As exemplified by both Miranda and Lauren, you should tuck your top into your shorts, to show off the high waist. Just make sure your top is not too frilly or loud; the high-waist style is already a tad trendy on its own.

There are two reasons I'm envious of Australian model Miranda Kerr. First, she's dating and vacationing with Orlando Bloom and second, she has legs the length of the Eiffel Tower! Now that I got that off my chest, we can move on to her cool, casual style. On her aforementioned romantic getaway, Miranda exuded an easy-going vibe that all vacation-goers should master. She threw on a white V-neck tee, black high-waisted shorts, and some wedge espadrilles. No fuss, no fluff - just the way a vacation ought to be.

Fab Finding Follow Up: Off to the Flea Market!

I love shopping but I hate being indoors when the weather is so nice outside. A flea market adventure is the perfect remedy to my predicament and I'm always down for a vintage hunt - who knows what treasures I'll find!

I started you off with this Matiko Iva Sandals ($80) because I love the huarache-inspired cut and the flat heel will keep me comfortable all day long while I scrounge for goodies. Let's see what you all came up with.

Trend Alert: High Waist Tailored Shorts

Investing in items in between seasons is always a bit risky because you don't know how long you'll actually be able to wear them for, especially with unpredictable British weather. Therefore, when shopping at the moment you need to think carefully about your purchases and tailored shorts could be a great investment buy.

You can wear them now with shorts and a piece of knitwear, then in the warmer months you can team with a printed tee and sandals. I particularly like this pair by Givenchy (£410) which remind me of a pair Alexa Chung has been sporting. Topshop offer a much more affordable pair (£30).

The high waist shape makes them more flattering as it lengthens your legs, it also avoids any "muffin top" misdemeanors!

White button-down shirt topped by a teal cardigan = a classic look. But throw a pair of high-waisted shorts into the mix, like AngelaChristin did, and you've got a different situation.

She's so high on her newfound way to shake up a tried-and-true look, and I'm feeling high just appreciating how well the shorts accentuate and flatter her legs. Very nice.

McQ Zip Up Romper: Love It or Hate It?

Alexander McQueen showed his colorful side with this McQ Zip Up Romper, ($400). The abstract print is Spring festive, but I'm not really sure about the short, high-waisted cut. It's pretty hard to pull off this look - it looks like a Rainbow Bright meets Power Ranger costume. Is this romper hot, or not?

WebMD outlined seven questions you should ask yourself to help decide if you really need to get serious about weight loss.

What is your lifestyle? "Regular physical activity and healthy eating are important," say experts who spoke with WebMD, not just for those trying to budge the scale. If you're not active and eat poorly, you should start making some changes for your overall health, not just because of a weight-loss goal.
What is your family history? If high cholesterol, "high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, or another weight-related ailment" runs in your family then Web MD notes that "it's crucial to be mindful of your weight."
What is your weight history? If the pounds have been creeping up on you over the past several years, you need to watch out since "experts say your BMI should not increase dramatically, even as you age. Even moderate weight gain in adulthood can increase your risk of diabetes."

How is your weight distributed? WebMD warns that if your body is "the so-called 'apple' shape," it can put your health at risk. So if this sounds like you, aim to whittle away your middle. If your weight is primarily in your thighs and butt, it's not as crucial to drop the pounds.
What is your waist size? The National Institutes of Health say that a "waist circumference of over 35 inches in women signifies a health risk, particularly those people with BMIs of 25 and 34.9 (the overweight category)." If you're not sure what your BMI is, check out Fit's Calculator to find out.
What is your health profile? "If your cholesterol and blood pressure levels are high and your BMI falls into the overweight or obese category, it's important to lose weight," writes WebMD. So make an appointment with your doc to get yours checked.
How do you feel? "If you're overweight and have joint problems, shortness of breath, or other health troubles that limit your day-to-day living," and interfere with being able to work, then experts quoted in the article suggest that melting away pounds would help improve the quality of your life.
