Simpsons Vs The Duffs

First there were the multiple supposed b*tch fights between LL and Jessica and now there is a rumor that the Simpsons have started crap with The Duffs. What is with these young Hollywood girls? Of course, it also makes for a good story so who knows what is real but Page Six reports:

Hilary and Haylie Duff were celebrating a friend's birthday at Basque in L.A. when Ashlee Simpson allegedly approached the Duffs' table, and remarked that Hilary's arms looked "chunky." Haylie told her to beat it, like any big sister would. Later in the ladies' room, the still-steamed Haylie had some words for Ashlee's own big sister, Jessica Simpson. A rep for the Simpsons said, "Ashlee thinks Hilary has perfectly lovely arms." The Duffs' rep, Cece Yorke, said, "They said they had a really fun night."

Looks out - insulting a girl's arms is so wrong. Besides, we all know Hilary's arms are anything but chunky these days. She was just in Dublin performing and her arms look just as skinny as they have been. I'd be more concerned about the boots than her arms if I were Hilary.

Haylie Looks Out For Her Little Sister

Hilary and Haylie Duff, together as usual, headed to the Roosevelt Hotel for an ESPY awards pre-party last night. Hilary is definitely more of a girly girl than the sporty type, but her great bikini body makes it obvious that she gets plenty of exercise. Just because Hilary looks amazing now, doesn't mean that she didn't struggle with weight issues in the past. She admitted that she obsessed over her size until Haylie finally stepped in. Hilary said, “She [Haylie] said, ‘Why are you being so strict with yourself?' It was like an awakening. I don’t want to be so skinny that people are like, Oh my god, she’s lost a lot of weight.”

Sounds like Hilary is lucky to have a great sister in Haylie - and it's really nice to hear about stars actually being concerned about looking too skinny for a change. More of the girls at the party so read more

Hilary's Growing Up, Growing Wiser

Hilary hit up Glendale for a little shopping expedition the other day. While having a bank account like Hilary's would certainly be nice, there are other aspects of fame that are far less appealing. On the eve of her new album, Dignity's release, Hilary talked to Britain's Mail on Sunday about the ups and downs of become a woman while the whole world watches on. Here are highlights:

On Growing Up: 'As I become more mature, my tastes and interests change. Like, so many people have watched me grow up, and I find it really weird when they say to me 'tell us about your new look.' I'm, like, what new look? It's just me growing and getting more confident about my style.''
On Shopping: "I can't go more than about 72 hours without shopping, but I don't think I'm excessive."
On The Britney/Christina Shock Appeal: 'Know what? That's not really my style,' she says forcefully. 'I'm going to work really hard to stay successful and appeal to as many different people as I can, but I know there's always going to be someone younger and cooler coming after me, just like I took over from the one before me. And if it doesn't work,' she shrugs, 'I guess I'm going to have to think harder and maybe try something else.'
On Her Weight Loss: 'I did get skinny,' she concedes. 'I've felt that pressure like everyone else in my position has. When a paper comes out that says 'Duff Puff - she must have gained 15 pounds,' or something like that, how would any normal person react? It's so mean, but everyone keeps buying that stuff and talking about it, so it's not going to go away.'

While we worry about the pressures put on all of our favorite starlets, Hilary seems to have emerged with a level head on her tiny shoulders. Seems like someone still has her dignity all right.

Hilary Duff Hearts Pilates

Pilates has been all the rage for a while now, but now the younger generation of Hollywood hipsters is getting hip to working their core. Could Pilates be how Hilary Duff went from being self described as too skinny to being in the best shape of her life? She credits her long and lean body to doing Pilates 3 times a week.

It is no secret that I love Pilates too, and here's why:

Flat Belly: The most fundamental move in Pilates is pulling your navel to your spine with every exhale to engage your deep abs. You keep the deep abs engaged while you inhale too. Working your deep abs flattens your belly and decreases the diameter of your waist. When you work the tops layer of abs, the 6 pack muscles, they bulge out. Not only is that not too attractive, it doesn't support your spine or pelvis. Every breath you take is another opportunity to work your abs.
Long and Lean Muscles: Pilates is all about controlling motion, this way you work the muscles as they shorten and lengthen. This way when new muscle is formed it is long, not bulky.

Springs: It is the spring resistance on all the Pilates equipment that makes them unique. The play in the springs forces you to control your motion in every exercise. Plus as the spring becomes taut it provides more resistance, challenging your muscles even more.
Flexibility: You work all your joints through their entire range of motion, so your muscles get stretched in almost every exercise. This also helps those muscles lengthen as they strengthen.

My only word of caution: If you find an instructor you love, don't tell everyone you know about her. Hilary's only complaint about Pilates, as she told Self magazine, is her teacher is so over booked since she raved about her to all her friends; she has trouble getting an appointment.

Hilary Opens Up About Being Too Thin

Hilary Duff is on the cover of Cosmo Girl this month looking cute and confident. In the issue she opens up about a lot of things including her weight loss last year. It's always nice to see celebrities address these issues head on. Here's more:

“I have the same insecurities about my body that every girl has and I made a conscious choice to get in shape. I've always been a junk food eater, but I started paying more attention to what I put in my body and cut out foods like pizza, chicken fingers, and French fries. If I knew I'd want dessert one night, I wouldn't have bread that day. If I wanted to eat bread, I wouldn't have dessert. Seeing how well it worked motivated me to keep going, but I hit a period when I got too skinny. I wasn't too obsessed with it, but I did learn that there have to be days when you just don't think about it."
