Group Therapy: He Won't Lift a Finger!

I have been married for almost six years. At first my husband would help out around the house, nothing big, but he would at least pick up after himself. Now, he does nothing. At first I figured he was just comfortable being his messy self, but now I think he is just lazy. He rarely does anything, even when I ask him to. Today for example, I cooked him a big dinner (roast beef, mashed potatoes, stuffing) and asked him to help me out with the dishes. He didn't even have the guts to tell me no, he just laughed and walked away.

I am sick of being treated more like a maid than a wife, and I really resent that he won't at least pick up after himself so my "job" of cleaning up the place isn't more difficult. Help!

Group Therapy: To Buy or Not To Buy

My husband and I have been searchng for a house to buy for at least three years. Last week we found what we thought was our dream home. Perfect neighborhood, perfect size, everything! BUT, our car won't fit in the garage, it's two inches too long. I know, I know, the easy answer is. If it's your dream home, why not just get a smaller car? But its acatually bigger issue. We like having our SUV for skiing and other activities, so it's not just a car, it's a matter of lifestyle, I think. So what do you guys think, is our dream home worth sacrificing a larger car, or should we keep looking?

The robin's egg blue of this China Blue Stool ($495) from Jayson Home and Garden has me thinking of Spring. It would be a colorful update to any room in your house, and a pair of these would look great as bedside tables in a chinoisierie -inspired bedroom. I'm imagining some DwellStudio bedding, a cool wall panel, and the Anthropologie chinoiserie bed in white.

Jayson Home & Garden's Semi Annual Floor Model & More Sale has begun and the shop is offering discounts between 30 and 50 percent (and sometimes as much as 75 percent) on floor models and other items. The sale includes Jayson's one-of-a-kind vintage and rare-find pieces, as well as a wide range of designer and vintage furnishings including sofas, chairs, tables, ottomans, chests, and sideboards. The Trada Sofa, for example, is $2,299, reduced from $3,950. The sale runs until Jan. 19, but this Chicago-based home shop is also offering free shipping until Dec. 31. A pretty fab deal when you're shopping for furniture, I must say.

This Just In: Jayson Home & Garden European Flea Market Launches Online

Today marks the launch of the Jayson Home & Garden European Flea Market online. Thanks to the keen eyes over at Jayson, these rare finds - a mix of timeless European furniture and lighting, antique prints and oil paintings, gilded mirrors, hotel silverware, and more -have made their way from Europe and beyond to Chicago’s Lincoln Park. The market has been running locally there since April 18^th, but that's no fun for non-Illinois folk, so I’m ecstatic to see it all just a click away in my browser. Abbe over at Jayson Home & Garden was nice enough to share photos of the market, which you can get a peek at below.

Now through Oct. 13, the retailer is cutting prices by 20 percent on all in-stock and special order upholstery pieces. Pretty rad, right? Crave Worthy: Jayson Home & Garden Echeveria Heart

It may be Love Shack Month, but I'd delight in gazing at this Jayson Home & Garden Echeveria Heart ($100) year round. Truth be told, if my valentine wanted to pick this sweet heart up for me this year, I would be happy to have it. Echeveria is a type of succulent which does well as a house plant. It's drought resistant and flourishes with regular deep watering, and will tolerate some shade as well as frost. Unfortunately, it's only available for delivery in Chicago. Unless I can track down a heart-shaped planter, I think I'll have to go without.

Nice and New: Jayson Home and Garden Cotswold Tray

I have a lot of love for this ceramic Jayson Home and Garden Cotswold Tray ($75), and not just because it's festive. Actually, I'd prefer that the motifs weren't holiday related so I could use it year-round. Maybe an oak tree and a horse instead of the symbolic pine tree and reindeer buck? I'm not sure who designed this tray, but it's definitely speaking Tord Boontje to me. I particularly love the lace and gold detailing. What do you think? Would you serve Santa cookies on this thing?
