Home is where the wild things are — just ask Urban Outfitters, which recently debuted a line of home accessories based on the movie coming out Oct. 16. I've found even more inspiration looking through the stills from director Spike Jonze's interpretation of the classic children's book.

Here in California, it's usually a good idea not to decorate above your bed. At the most, some soft textiles or unframed art is best. No one wants to get bonked in the head during an earthquake!

These gorgeous deluxe editions of Penguin Classics are expected to be released in paperback in the US around Mother's Day this year. You can't go wrong with a copy of Great Expectations on your bookshelf, but I'd buy these beauties simply for the cover art — regardless of the content. Would buy a book just for its cover?

A vanity-scoffing songstress and children's book author who's been linked to the likes of James Taylor, Mick Jagger, Cat Stevens, Kris Kristofferson, and Warren Beatty owns a home décor store in Martha's Vineyard. Can you name her?

From inspiring shelter magazines to the portfolios of interior stylists and photographers to haute décor shops, I've been seeing our bodies' garments artistically displayed on the beautiful bones of houses around the world. At a time when fashion rules the pavement and the print pubs, names like Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent prolifically roll off the tongue, celebrities are becoming designers left and right, and Birkin bags take 48 hours to make, it's no wonder that apparel is making waves in our homes as well in the buzzing media world. To see where I've found frocks and accessories in bedrooms, living rooms, and beyond, check out this slideshow.

Domino is one of my favorite shelter magazines simply because it offers so much to so many people. From approachable DIY ideas to luxurious furniture options, the magazine manages to mix styles and budgets while always looking effortlessly chic. Continuing in that tradition, the magazine's new book, Domino: The Book of Decorating: A Room-by-Room Guide to Creating a Home That Makes You Happy ($32) offers something for everyone.

Add equal parts midcentury-modern furniture, futuristic detailing, and pop-art colors, and you've got the recipe for the eyecatching set design of the Speed Racer movie. For a peek at the house, take a look at the slideshow, which was recently featured in the LA Times. If you want all of the details, definitely check out the full slide show and article on the LA Times site.

This bowl of clear glass objets d'art remind me of the cool, clear sea. It's such a welcome change from the saturated colors that I normally favor and would bring a sense of calm to any room where they were displayed.
Do you have any clear accents in your home?

We're fast approaching the end of Winter, and my eyes are turning to bright accents for freshening up your furniture. What better way to do so than with some pretty pillows? Lately, I've been especially inspired by the pink and greens that Amy Butler's been using in many of her inspirational lifestyle photos.
