Who knew aprons could be so utterly gorgeous?? With her collection of high end aprons, event planner extraordinare Elizabeth Scokin has taken culinary chic to a whole new level. With Haute Hostess Aprons, the kitchen becomes center stage for a female who is sexy, sassy, and oh-so fabulous. It's available in three different styles: the ruffled Glam It Up (my personal favorite and pictured at left), the chic Chanel-inspired Glam It Up Lux and the super girlie Give Me Sugar (modeled by Elizabeth below).

I was lucky enough to speak with Elizabeth whose Southern belle charm is warmly contagious. Rather than protect against splattering grease and flying flour, her apron was created to be a chic accessory - the little black dress of the kitchen if you will - and the design is an exact replica of her grandmother's dated version.

Elizabeth believes everyone should have a special occasion apron that reminds them of past parties and she guarantees that guests will be delightfully surprised when you answer the door dressed in one of her aprons.

When I was prepping and cooking the food for our Sex and the City Marathon at Fab's house, I expected her to offer me a glamorously stylish apron. However, I was shocked to see that an apron is the one article of clothing that she does NOT own. Let's help Fab by heading off to market in search of a fashionable apron. We've dedicated the entire month of April to planning showers of all kinds, but if you've been nominated (or volunteered) to plan a baby shower for a friend or relative you should start with the basics.

Once you've picked your venue, theme and invites it's time to move onto the really fun part.

The small details like menu, music and party favors are often what make a great party wonderful and allow you to pay homage to the mommy-to-be's taste and personality. For some easy tips to help you plan the day, read more

Menu: Baby shower food and dessert menus are best kept simple. Finger foods, cupcakes, pastries and a signature party drink will help bring your party theme together. Talk to the mommy-to-be about her favorites (and cravings) and come up with a menu that's simple, but elegant.

Music and entertainment: Planning the entertainment element of the shower in advance is a must. You should talk to the mommy-to-be about her music style and make sure it fits in with your theme. Would she prefer the tunes be classic, traditional, punk or pop? Make an iPod playlist that mixes Rockabye Music with fun singers like Gwen Stefani.

Favors: Personalized cookies and sweet treats make the perfect baby shower favors. Personalized lip balm is practical and cute. Last week I told you about being invited to a New Year's Day brunch at my mother-in-law's best friend's house. As a hostess myself, I understand the importance of being a great guest and that's why I wanted to bring the most amazing hostess gift for her. I told you that she is chic, detail oriented, and extravagant.

You scoured the web and placed your finds in the Yum Market with the tag of Hostess Gift. I was very pleased by all of the great goodies you found for her and decided to use three small gifts to create one gift basket. I included this chic yet simple monogrammed apron that Crispet1 found.

After I folded up the apron, I wrapped the World's Greatest Culinary Encyclopedia (Crispet1 found this too!) up in this fabric.

This was a particularly great gift because I love giving books as gifts. They stand the test of time, whereas a bottle of wine is only enjoyed on one occasion.

Lastly I threw in this personalized silver wine stopper that Rubialala found for me.

The How-To Lounge: Perfecting Your Holiday Hosting Outfit

You're hosting a holiday party at home and have no idea what to wear - for some helpful tips on marrying practicality and fashion, click here to read more.

Since you're the hostess with the mostess, you should dress to impress all while keeping comfort in mind.

If you're having a more laid-back party, jeans are okay as long as you opt for dark or black denim. Pair your jeans with a more festive top or sweater and make use of your accessories.
Since you will be walking around playing hostess, either wear flats or a low heel so you're not uncomfortable at your own party.
If you're going to be in and out of the kitchen all night, wear a cute apron to protect your clothes.
If you have long hair that's always in your face, wear a headband or pin it up so you don't get your hair in the food, decorations, or - God forbid - anywhere near a candle.
