What to Download: New Music Today

Welcome to a very special Monday edition of What to Download! Instead of Tuesday, all the hot music releases are happening today. In addition to the dance-floor-ready releases I've handpicked below, Shakira's She Wolf also dropped today.

Good girl gone bad makes good: Rihanna has had a tough year, but if her release of Rated R is any indication, she's ready to pick herself up and be back on top - of the charts, at least. Considering her last album gave us modern classic "Umbrella," I've been trying to sniff out this year's mega-hit. "Hard" probably comes the closest, but while it's catchy, this isn't a candy-coated pop musing. Sounding weary but more mature, Rihanna brings a darkness with her singles, particularly on "Wait Your Turn," probably my favorite on the album. Speaking of dark, "Russian Roulette," a stirring ballad, conjures up gun metaphors for love. Its heaviness, along with the album's, may or may not translate to chart success, but it's a tough, brave declaration that Rihanna isn't going anywhere.

Feel the fame all over again:The Fame Monster is the re-issue of Lady Gaga's debut album The Fame, but has enough new tracks on it to justify all the buzz around it. You'd have to be fighting it pretty hard to not have heard "Bad Romance" - the track and its great hook are exactly what I like to hear from Gaga. But I think the real winner here is going to be "Telephone" - featuring the only diva fierce enough to go head to head with Gaga: Beyonce. If you still need more fuel for your dance party, play "Monster" a few times and you'll be spinning around your room in no time.

Worship your glam idol: Kris Allen may have won American Idol, but Adam Lambert is your rock king. For Your Entertainment is as glittery and fun as its crazy cover promises. I've been loving the bouncy, sexy title track since Lambert performed it in his scandalous AMA performance. Swaggering glam rock track "Strut" is more of the same fun, and the fabulously '80s "Music Again" features the capable vocalist hitting high notes like a modern Freddie Mercury.

Rihanna returned to the stage last night with the support of her good friends Jay-Z and Beyonce. Jay joined Rih to perform for a bit, and the three partied the night away afterward. Beyonce Celebrates Her Hot Bikini Bod

Beyonce is the first celebrity ever to score the cover for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and last night was her night to celebrate the hot photoshoot. At the Pacific Design Center in LA Beyonce showed off her bikini ready bod in a little black dress. It wasn't an easy task getting her body to look so fabulous for the magazine. Here's more:

To physically prepare for the shoot, the "Bootylicious" singer says she had to watch what she ate – which was especially tough because it was scheduled right after Thanksgiving. "At dinner, I kept thinking: this extra piece of pie will show up," she says. "I always make sure I celebrate it up, but I was so terrified with every little thing I ate this year." Before the photo session, the singer relaxed by listening to some of her favorite music. "I listened to John Legend's new album. It's soothing, sexy and old school. It got me in the mood."

And once it got started, Beyoncé had a little help from her friends – and most of her family. "Kelly Rowland (of Destiny's Child) showed up. My mom was there; my nephew," she says. "Dad was going to come, but he said, 'Well, I'll, um, meet you in Orlando after the shoot. I'm not so sure that I want to see this. All my blessings; you're a big girl. But I'm not so sure I want to see it.' "

But dad had nothing to worry about. Beyoncé says she's proud of the pictures. "These are photos I can show my kids some day," she says, "so I can say, 'See, momma was beautiful. Look how good I looked!' "

VMAs Bring Kanye's Drama, New Moon, MJ Love and More!

The MTV VMAs brought its share of drama last night - some amazing performances, a heartfelt Michael Jackson tribute, and a huge moment that had everyone talking - it was a show that will go down in history. Check out all the winners here! The biggest story of the night was Kanye West making a scene when Taylor Swift won Best Female Video, but thankfully it all ended well when Beyonce Knowles sweetly called her up onto the stage to have her moment and he apologized profusely. The night was dedicated to Michael Jackson and kicked off with a touching tribute from Madonna and a performance including his sister Janet. The other big moment came when Kristen Stewart debuted her hot short haircut on stage with Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to debut another New Moon trailer - watch it here.

Eminem was also a big winner for the night, walking away with a Moonman and participating in some funny sketches with Tracey Morgan. Lady GaGa had countless costume changes and a performance that left her hanging covered in fake blood. We loved seeing Jay-Z finish off the night with Alicia Keys as well as Pink's trapeze act and Beyonce's big group "Single Ladies." Russell Brand's act is familiar after last year and we must admit we were happy to see Adam Brody on stage with Megan Fox to promote Jennifer's Body.

It's All Sparkle and Shine For the Ladies at the 2009 MTV VMAs

Whether they went short or long, the gorgeous girls on the red carpet at last night's VMAs sparkled in metallic hues. Taylor Swift led the glamorous parade in her floor-length gown, while Leighton Meester and Kristin Cavallari looked hot in their silvery dresses - both of them are doing well in Fab's best dressed poll, but who do you think deserves the title? Jennifer Lopez's featured an intricate neck, and the first of Ashley Greene's two looks of the evening had a gold skirt.

Stephanie Pratt stuck with the theme in her rhinestone-encrusted dress, while unintentional twins Pink and Shakira's dresses had a little gold embroidering. A few ladies paved their own ways style-wise - big winner of the evening Beyonce picked a bright red mini, Whitney Port stepped out in a black and white Christopher Kane, and Lauren Conrad picked a similarly simple short frock. Trend Alert: White Eye Shadow at the VMAs

You would have thought it was still pre-Labor Day with the way celebrities were wearing white eye shadow on the red carpet. Ladies from The Hills, from The City, and from just plain ol' Hollywood were all about the white out, whether, like Beyonce, they kept it subtle along their upper lids or, like Lauren Conrad, had major white shadow along the inner eyes and lots of black eyeliner along the outer. We already know that white nail polish is a major trend of the moment, so perhaps white eye shadows will also be hot this season. What's your take on this bright-eyed look?

Beyonce and Lady GaGa Lead MTV VMA Nominations

Beyonce and Lady GaGa each have nine MTV VMA nominations for "Single Ladies (Put A Ring on It)", "Poker Face" and "Paparazzi". Coldplay is flying the flag for us Brits, with "Viva La Vida" nominated for Best Rock Video, Best Editing, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography. Bat For Lashes is nominated in the Best Breakthrough Video category for "Daniel", which the majority of you loved. Britney Spears has seven nominations - do you think she will win as many awards as last year? You can vote for your favourites before Russell Brand comes back as host of the ceremony on 13 September: you guys are fairly evenly split on whether this is a good thing or not! Beyonce walked straight out of a '90s workout video and out to dinner with Jay-Z in NYC last night. B was also showing off a darker 'do to go with her badass look. Their usual companion these days Kanye let the two have a date night, but hopefully we'll see the trio together again soon. I love the idea of the three superstars just hanging out and playing Connect Four. Maybe Kanye sat this one out because he couldn't tear himself away from his computer - he's been keeping himself super busy with his blogging these days.

Beyonce Likes Her Nephew So She Put a Shirt on Him

Earlier this week, Beyonce filled the role of favorite auntie with her sister, Solange's son, Julez. While the two spent quality time together shopping in Beverly Hills, the 4-year-old sported a "My Auntie Rocks" tee (you can get a onesie just like it here). Tops giving props to parents and family members have become increasingly popular over the years. Shirts have slogans from "My Dad's Mr. Wonderfull" to "Grandma's My Favorite" to "My Mom's Hot" and just about any other form of kudos you can imagine.

My own kids have received the sassy tees as gifts, but I've never felt comfortable having my 2-year-old wear the one that compliments me when we're out together. What's your opinion on this?
