It's not that I was expecting a film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road to be happy sunshine — I just wasn't expecting it to seem so possible.
The apocalyptic tale takes place in a wasteland in the future after most humans are gone. It's desolate, the sky is a brownish-gray, and the land seems to be covered with ash.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner may be dominating the promotional circuit right now, but they're not the only cast members with something to say about New Moon. I had the opportunity to chat with costars Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, aka Emmett and Alice Cullen, during their recent stopover in SF. They chatted about their characters, the vampire craze, and what it's like to be a "Twilight celebrity."

We talk about love and money quite a bit here on Savvy, and many of you have had a go-round or two with your significant other about the topic. In a new relationship, resolving money issues means adjusting to each other’s spending and saving styles, and coming up with a system you can both live with. But as relationships grow and change, financial situations do too, and many couples find themselves having to adjust their approach to money after years of marriage.

This week I felt like Grey's Anatomy is finally getting back on track. The episode has a very sad central focus, as Arizona faces the inevitable loss of a young patient, but was nicely rounded out with the usual relationship issues, comic relief, and a few sweet moments.
For more Grey's fun, check out the Grey's Anatomy McAddicts group in the Buzz Community.

Russell Brand was out in LA with Katy Perry over the weekend, kissing her in her car as she dropped him off. The cute couple have been spending a lot of time together lately, and with Katy Europe-bound for the MTV EMAs this week, and Russell in London for a gig tomorrow night it looks like they'll be stealing some moments together over here too! In an interview with the Sunday Times published this weekend, Russell spoke a little about how Katy's changing his life, here's some extracts from his fascinating interview:
- On how his life is changing: "I am living in a different way at the moment.

This week's House continued to stick to the tried-and-true show recipe, and our favorite doctor was there pulling the strings — even if he isn't technically in charge. The episode answered one or two of my previous questions, and while the writers quickly tied up the dilemma involving last week's death of the dictator (breathe a collected sigh of relief), I highly doubt that Chase and Foreman's shared secret is just going to be swept under the rug for good.
I'm curious to see how everything plays out, but for now, take a look at my questions (some spoilers!) from this week's episode and share your thoughts when you read more

After an entire Summer without House, you can believe I was ready for last night’s two-hour premiere. With House checked in to an asylum, we knew season six was taking us in to new territory.
From the start they let us know that this was not your typical episode.

Michelle Williams graces the cover of Vogue's October issue, opening up about Heath Ledger for her first magazine interview since his death. The actress looks gorgeous as she promotes her pushed-back Shutter Island and provides us an in-depth look at how she and Matilda are dealing with their life after Heath's passing. She reveals she is no longer dating Spike Jonze, but sounds like she's staying strong as a single parent.

Dear Savvy,
I've been relatively happy with my job as an executive assistant for the last three years, but the company I work for has been going through financial problems and I've heard rumors of layoffs in the near future. My boss keeps alluding to his stress over the company's well-being, though he hasn't mentioned anything about my specific position. I don't want to jump the gun and assume that staff cuts are coming soon, but it's hard to go on about my business when I'm concerned about my future with the company.

We didn't need an international poll conducted in Canada, the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Australia to determine the recession is affecting most people's lives. But the differences in the ways we're responding to economic worries are definitely interesting. Here are some interesting conclusions from the poll's responses.
