I'm loving this houndstooth cape that Emma Thompson is sporting in Pirate Radio. Houndstooth, which is characterized by a duotone textile pattern comprised of broken checks, is traditionally seen in black and white, but other color patterns are also common.
Inspired by Emma's fab cape, I looked for more housewares-oriented houndstooth.

I passed by the Knoll store this morning and saw a Saarinen Executive Chair upholstered in a rich, wintry tweed sitting in the window. Then, I got my computer up and running and saw this smart J. Crew Wool Tweed Oona Coat ($550).

Home is where the wild things are — just ask Urban Outfitters, which recently debuted a line of home accessories based on the movie coming out Oct. 16. I've found even more inspiration looking through the stills from director Spike Jonze's interpretation of the classic children's book.

New York Fashion Week was full of many beautiful, elegant, and inspiring looks. But I must say that the designers participating in Madrid Cibeles Fashion Week have really displayed out-of-the-box thinking and debuted some wild and funky fashions. In particular, I'm blown away by Spanish designer Francis Montesinos's Spring collection.

New York Fashion Week is full of design inspiration from the palettes and patterns to the details and embellishments, and even the onlookers themselves. Yesterday's Badgley Mischka Spring 2010 fashion show truly won me over, though. From coral beading to ethereal white ruffles, many elements of the collection could easily translate to interior design.

New York Fashion Week is a mecca for design enthusiasts around the world, but it's not limited to fashionistas. There's plenty of interior design inspiration to find on the catwalk, be it in a pattern, a material, a shape, or the heft of a model's bangle. Vena Cava is one of my favorites, so it's no surprise that I found lots of design inspiration from the label's 2010 Spring collection.

New York Fashion Week continues to wow with design inspiration, and Nanette Lepore's Spring 2010 show was no exception. I loved the subtle Moroccan references, as well as the bold splashes of floral prints and bright use of color. See how I translated her looks to the home design world (and when you're done, check out her amazing townhouse).

HBO is hosting a special tonight to celebrate the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th Anniversary, and the line-up is star-studded. U2, Metallica, Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, and other acts each have a segment of the show where they'll be rocking their music, along with a few tunes by other artists who have inspired their work.
I'm glad to see Bruce and his boys here after hearing they might not perform together anytime soon, but what I'm most psyched to watch is the evening's unique musical pairings: Stevie Wonder and John Legend are teaming up to perform "The Way You Make Me Feel," Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band and Billy Joel have a duet to "New York State of Mind," and U2, Mick Jagger, and the Black Eyed Peas are coming together for "Gimme Shelter."
