Robert Pattinson Shows Some Skin in Vanity Fair Italia

Don't adjust your screens - that is the small of Robert Pattinson's back being prominently featured in the November issue of Vanity Fair Italia. It's the latest hot cover for the Twilight star, as he and Kristen Stewart make the rounds before New Moon hits theaters later this month. Rob had a busy week of promoting the film in Japan, and he's off now to LA for the big press weekend. Barbie Takes Over Vogue Italia's Black Issue

Barbie's on a roll! After showing a rad collection at New York Fashion Week earlier this year, the icon will make her next debut as the star in Vogue Italia's upcoming Black Issue.

"Barbie has been an icon for whole generations, which is why I really wanted to give a strong sign in step with the times, and dedicate the anniversary issue to Black Barbie," said Franca Sozzani, editor in chief of Vogue Italia.

The supplement issue will feature Black Barbie styled in an array of designer creations ranging from fancy evening gowns to bedazzled swimsuits. The brand will also be launching a new collection of black Barbie dolls next year, named the So In Style dolls, designed to look more authentic with fuller lips, a wider nose, curly hair, and distinctive cheek bones.

Which Vogue Italia Cover Do You Think Is Most Fab?

A while back, we announced something groundbreaking: the July issue of Vogue Italia would feature all black models. While I don't think it should be a big to-do, because this should be happening anyway, unfortunately it is and it's not happening. This rides on the heels of the runways being so white washed as of late. And let's not forget the late and great Yves Saint Laurent, who encouraged the use of African-American models and launched the career of Naomi Campbell.

The proofs are in! Naomi, Jourdan Dunn, Liya Kebede, and Sessilee Lopez can all call themselves cover girls because each has a separate cover, photographed by Steven Meisel. Not to pin these gorgeous gals against one another, but just as friendly competition, which Vogue Italia cover do you think is most Fab? And while we're on the subject - do you think this is a step in the right direction for model diversity?

Fab Cover: Barbie for Vogue Italia

Last year, Vogue Italia made a statement with a black issue starring Jourdan Dunn and Naomi Campbell amongst others. They were shot by Steven Meisel for the issue which had four different colours. The magazine was a huge success and it has now been re-released to mark the occasion.

Barbie has been celebrating her 50th birthday all year so it's quite fitting that she should get a very fashionable shoot. Franca Sozzani chose to only use black dolls in the July supplement commenting, “Barbie has been an icon for whole generations which is why I really wanted to give a strong sign in step with the times, and dedicate the anniversary issue to black Barbie.”

The first black doll by Barbie, Francie, was released in 1967 as a friend to Barbie followed in 1980 by a "black Barbie" doll. A new line will also be released this Autumn called the So In Style dolls. Check out more images from the new supplement here.

Girls on Film: Sasha Pivovarova, Vogue Italia May '09

Put together sensual Sasha Pivovarova and Morocco and you have pure ecstasy. For Vogue Italia's May issue, Steven Meisel snapped Sasha looking like a Moroccan marvel in traditional yet stylish garb from the North African country - all, of course, with a fashion flair. Baggy harem pants ruled, as did vibrant pops of orange, raspberry, and red. Sasha's stacked bangles and coin necklaces also caught my eye and of course, that hair! There's something about the dank, dark background and how Meisel made a collage of two photos - Sasha along with historic images of the country - that portrays a very eclectic feel. Looks like I'll be adding a Moroccan holiday to my travel queue . . . Source

Diane always does these secret photo shoots in foreign fashion magazines . . . but I catch them every time. The ex-model (not so ex, actually) showed her "individuallure" to Vogue Italia last month. Photographed by Mark Seliger, she mixes with theater talents in glorious gowns and moody lighting. She twists and turns, jumps and lounges; she looks great. If you're a Diane fan, revel. Source

Fab Cover: PIxie Geldof for Vogue Italia

When Cheryl Cole graced the cover of British Vogue earlier this year, I know some of you were upset to see another celebrity on a fashion magazine. Well, Pixie Geldof is sure to get you talking this month as she becomes the coverstar of Vogue Italia.

She got her first cover under her belt aged just 17 at Tatler last year, but a high fashion glossy like this is surely a bigger achievement. She was shot by Steven Meisel and appears inside the magazine alongside friend and fellow Select model Daisy Lowe for a 14-page editorial.

Just last week Pixie's advert for Pringle was unveiled, which was also shot by Meisel and was said to inspire him for this issue of Vogue. Hilary Alexander wonders if this is "the rebirth of a Cool Brittania fashion sequel, which gathered steam when Meisel photographed the likes of Stella Tennant back in the early '90s?"
