Say It Isn't So - Nick and Jessica are Over

It looks like it is for real this time. Us Weekly got the scoop and posted it on their site tonight. The couple probably hoped we would be busy getting ready for Thanksgiving and not thinking about celebrity gossip for a day or so - but boy where they wrong. We are sad to hear the news. We were always cheering for these two to work it out. They would have had such beautiful babies. US wrote about the split a month ago but all was denied. Now it is official. Here is what is posted on US Website:

EXCLUSIVE: Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey Announce Separation To Us Weekly 10pm EST

November 23, New York â€” A month after Us Weekly first reported on the breakup of Newlyweds Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, the couple has jointly announced an official separation. 'After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways,' the couple tells Us in an exclusive joint statement. 'This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.' Us Weekly first reported the coupleâ€™s split in its October 17 issue; at that time, Lachey's publicist issued a denial of an official separation. Just last week, Lachey partied alone with pals in Miami, on November 22, he attended the American Music Awards without his wife, one day after the New York Post reported that a porn star was peddling a seamy story about her night with Lachey (Lachey's attorney has denied any impropriety). Tellingly, at the AMAs, Simpson's father Joe Simpson told an Us reporter of his daughter's ongoing media scrutiny, 'We are Simpsons, we take a lickinâ€™ and keep on tickinâ€™.'

The telegenic couple wed in Austin, Texas in October 2002 in front of 250 guests. 'You don't think it's possible to love the man you're looking at any more. But when you say 'I do,' you somehow end up loving him even more,' Simpson told Us in October of 2004. 'When I walked down the aisle it was like Romeo and Juliet.' The duo became international celebrities by televising their first years of marriage on MTV's Newlyweds. While the show was wildy successful and the duo reaped the benefits of their newfound fame â€” both released albums and Jessica, who earned $35 million last year, landed a starring role in 2004's Dukes of Hazzard (in contrast, Nick's solo debut, only a paltry 105,000 copies)â€” reports of trouble have dogged the relationship since the second season of Newlyweds. During the filming of Dukes of Hazzard in the fall of 2004 the couple were apart for months as Simpson stayed onset in Lousiana while Lachey continued to live in Los Angeles. 'We knew when we got married that we both had aspirations in our professional lives,' Lachey told Us in December 2004. 'Some of those dreams are coming true and it means weâ€™re not always together.'

We wonder what the new cover will look like next week. Will it be old news by then or will US just recycle this old one?

Damn and we were looking forward to another cheesy Holiday special. Seriously, this is so sad.

Nick and Jessica - The Saga Continues

The media continues to tear them apart. Page Six reports that the couple will not be sharing their third anniversary together. Jessica will be in Kenya with Operation Smile while Nick is staying behind for work commitments in LA. They also report the couple have been living separate lives.

Upon their return last Friday, Lachey ditched Simpson to party in Las Vegas, and "Jackass" star Bam Margera â€” who had a fling with Simpson earlier this year â€” confirmed to Us Weekly that she had left Lachey. More evidence the two have split? Simpson, who now lives with her assistant Cacee Cobb, is spending her third wedding anniversary alone, in Africa. Sources tell PAGE SIX that Simpson, her dad, Joe, and Cobb will travel to Nairobi for Operation Smile â€” her pet charity that fixes cleft lips â€” for 10 days. The trio will have a safari elsewhere in Kenya â€” all without Lachey. A rep for Simpson says: "Operation Smile is an organization that is very special to Jessica, and she is looking forward to participating in more missions. Nick will be unable to join Jessica on the next trip because of work commitments in Los Angeles."

Please people - maybe their Italy trip was their way of celebrating since they knew they could not be together next week. Maybe I am just totally naive, but I wonder how long they would last if we just left them alone for a few months or years.

UPDATE: Just to set the record straight, Nick did say they were celebrating an early anniversary and that everything is perfect between him and Jess.

Jessica Simpson was all smiles in a photo she posted to Twitter on Saturday night, enjoying a night out with her girls. Apparently she's found herself a strong support system after splitting with Tony Romo last week, and she even got well-wishes from her ex Nick Lachey. He said, "I certainly have heard about her breakup and I wish her the best, as I’ve always done. Aside from that, there really is nothing to say." He also said they haven't spoken in years, so tell us - do you care what Nick thinks about Jessica's breakup?

Nick's Love Life is Really Important

US Weekly decided to forget about Melgate and all the crazy LL stories this week to bring us a very important cover story about Nick and his new lady. A little weird right? Anyway, it's pretty funny to see this cover and the reasons Nick prefers Vanessa considering the last post I just wrote about Chestica.

“She’s a guys’ girl,” says a friend of the couple. “Jessica was always about going somewhere that was a scene with a big entourage. Vanessa can play darts and chill.” Minnillo also scores points for being a fellow sports nut. Whereas Simpson rolled her eyes at Lachey’s passion, Minnillo revels in it.

In fact, when she and Lachey were still in the platonic friendship stage, “Nick commented on his love for the [hometown NFL team], Cincinnati Bengals and Vanessa blew him away by running off the team’s poor stats,” says a Lachey source. “He tells friends, ‘It’s like talking to your best guy friend, but she’s a smoking-hot chick.’”

On a snarkier, note, a Minnillo pal adds, “Nick keeps telling Vanessa the difference between her and Jessica is that she is extremely intelligent.”

Nick and Jessica Officially Divorced

We should have seen this coming. Jessica likes to drop the bomb before holiday weekends - kinda like she did with the initial divorce announcement before Thanksgiving. Looks like these two are happily independent for the holiday weekend. How appropriate.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are officially divorced, rep Rob Shuter confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

According to papers filed in L.A. County Superior Court, the divorce is dated June 30, 2006, and Jessica's name is restored to Jessica Simpson (from Jessica Simpson Lachey).

On Thursday, documents were released in which the former couple asked that retired Superior Court Judge Dana Senit Henry be appointed "for the sole purpose of" ending their marriage. They asked the judge to "bifurcate" the case, meaning to make the divorce official without settling all the financial details.

No Wonder Jessica Is Depressed

Remember when Nick was famous for being in some boy band and Jessica was barely known since she was competing with the likes of Britney and Christina? In fact, Nick was much more well off that Jessica's dad supposedly even recommended that she did not sign a prenup. Then the couple we fell in love with changed and Jessica's career was on fire. Looks like the tables are turned again. Not only has Nick moved on and found a new love but he's back on top according to album sales. Here's more:

To date, Simpson's fourth album has sold a total of 218,972 copies and currently sits at No. 131 on Billboard's Top 200 Album list, while her ex-husband's new album has seen 545,345 sales due to the success of its title ballad.

The Daily News said that those numbers reflect a drastic drop for Simpson, whose last album sold 2.9 million copies, while in contrast reflects triple the amount of sales Lachey enjoyed with his last musical offering.

To be fair Jessica has been spreading herself a little thin lately. Between creating hair extensions, shoes, bags and more as well as acting in films and as her own publicist, there's not a lot of time left in the day for a singing career. Jessica and Nick Divvy Up

Jessica and Nick have finally come to an agreement on how to divide their assets. Jessica didn't sign a prenup, so by California law Nick is entitled to half of their estimated worth of $36 million. Nick was initially offered a crappy deal by Joe Simpson so he fought for more. Now he has agreed to settle in order to avoid a drawn out court battle. TMZ reports:

Sources say in the property settlement -- which has not yet been filed in court -- Nick will take significantly more than the $1.5 million, but considerably less than 50% of what he and Jessica earned during the marriage. Two sources in Nick's camp made it clear to TMZ that Lachey agreed to end the dispute because he does not want to hurt anyone in a contentious court battle.

Good for Nick for fighting but not wanting to drag everyone in the dirt. He knows he deserves to cash out, but it's not worth the tabloid fodder so why not settle for a few mil and call it a day. On the other hand, Jess was spotted doing what she does best with her money - shopping in NYC. More images so read more

Jessica Can Finally Breathe Easy Again

Jessica looks like the buxom blonde we fell in love with on The Newlyweds in this month's March issue of Elle. In the article, Jessica talks about what it was like going from a media darling to a tabloid target and how a film influenced her decision to say goodbye to Nick. Here's more:

"The [media] build you up to tear you down thing. But in a lot of ways I think I brought that on myself because I did a reality show. I let people in on who I am and how I react to my husband," Simpson says. "That's a big deal. Celebrities don't do that. So I think they brought me down just because I stopped talking and because I have not spoken – and will not speak – about my divorce. And I think people feel like I owe them my reality right now."

She will say, though, that she thought there was hope for her marriage up until a few days before she and Lachey announced their split. So what changed? "I watched The Notebook on a plane home to Waco to be with my grandparents," she says. "It's a great love story."

The movie itself, she says, was "not what sealed it. I just figured out the statement. It was about that moment of desperation. I needed to breathe."

After many months of worrying about Jess, it's clear she has become grounded again. Besides, now that she and John have come out of hiding she can stop getting constantly asked about Nick and get used to getting asked about John. For more pics and the article just read more

Nick and Jessica - End It Already

Nick and Jessica want to be divorced quietly and quickly. The couple want it official ASAP. In fact, they plan to work out the financial fighting after the divorce papers are all signed on the dotted lines. People reports:

As for the picture I decided to post just Nick since he looks great in this photo. He was working on the set of his latest video for "I Can't Hate You Anymore." Hmm, I wonder who he is referring to?
