Say It Isn't So - Nick and Jessica Are Over

It looks like it is for real this time. Us Weekly got the scoop and posted it on their site tonight. The couple probably hoped we would be busy getting ready for Thanksgiving and not thinking about celebrity gossip for a day or so - but boy were they wrong. We are sad to hear the news. We were always cheering for these two to work it out. They would have had such beautiful babies. US wrote about the split a month ago but all was denied. Now it is official. Here is what is posted on the US Website:

EXCLUSIVE: Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey Announce Separation To Us Weekly 10pm EST

November 23, New York â€” A month after Us Weekly first reported on the breakup of Newlyweds Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, the couple has jointly announced an official separation. 'After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways,' the couple tells Us in an exclusive joint statement. 'This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.' Us Weekly first reported the coupleâ€™s split in its October 17 issue; at that time, Lachey's publicist issued a denial of an official separation. Just last week, Lachey partied alone with pals in Miami, on November 22, he attended the American Music Awards without his wife, one day after the New York Post reported that a porn star was peddling a seamy story about her night with Lachey (Lachey's attorney has denied any impropriety). Tellingly, at the AMAs, Simpson's father Joe Simpson told an Us reporter of his daughter's ongoing media scrutiny, 'We are Simpsons, we take a lickinâ€™ and keep on tickinâ€™.'

The telegenic couple wed in Austin, Texas in October 2002 in front of 250 guests. 'You don't think it's possible to love the man you're looking at any more. But when you say 'I do,' you somehow end up loving him even more,' Simpson told Us in October of 2004. 'When I walked down the aisle it was like Romeo and Juliet.' The duo became international celebrities by televising their first years of marriage on MTV's Newlyweds. While the show was wildy successful and the duo reaped the benefits of their newfound fame â€” both released albums and Jessica, who earned $35 million last year, landed a starring role in 2004's Dukes of Hazzard (in contrast, Nick's solo debut, only a paltry 105,000 copies)â€” reports of trouble have dogged the relationship since the second season of Newlyweds. During the filming of Dukes of Hazzard in the fall of 2004 the couple were apart for months as Simpson stayed onset in Lousiana while Lachey continued to live in Los Angeles. 'We knew when we got married that we both had aspirations in our professional lives,' Lachey told Us in December 2004. 'Some of those dreams are coming true and it means weâ€™re not always together.'

We wonder what the new cover will look like next week. Will it be old news by then or will US just recycle this old one?

Damn and we were looking forward to another cheesy holiday special. Seriously, this is so sad.

Nick and Jessica - The Saga Continues

The media continues to tear them apart. Page Six reports that the couple will not be sharing their third anniversary together. Jessica will be in Kenya with Operation Smile while Nick is staying behind for work commitments in LA. They also report the couple have been living separate lives.

Upon their return last Friday, Lachey ditched Simpson to party in Las Vegas, and "Jackass" star Bam Margera â€” who had a fling with Simpson earlier this year â€” confirmed to Us Weekly that she had left Lachey. More evidence the two have split? Simpson, who now lives with her assistant Cacee Cobb, is spending her third wedding anniversary alone, in Africa. Sources tell PAGE SIX that Simpson, her dad, Joe, and Cobb will travel to Nairobi for Operation Smile â€” her pet charity that fixes cleft lips â€” for 10 days. The trio will have a safari elsewhere in Kenya â€” all without Lachey. A rep for Simpson says: "Operation Smile is an organization that is very special to Jessica, and she is looking forward to participating in more missions. Nick will be unable to join Jessica on the next trip because of work commitments in Los Angeles."

Please people - maybe their Italy trip was their way of celebrating since they knew they could not be together next week. Maybe I am just totally naive, but I wonder how long they would last if we just left them alone for a few months or years.

UPDATE: Just to set the record straight, Nick did say they were celebrating an early anniversary and that everything is perfect between him and Jess.

Nick's Not Buying Any Rings For Vanessa Yet

Vanessa might have gotten trashed on NYE and embarrassed Nick, but evidently he's not afraid to take her back out on the town. The two went out to Butter this week and looked as happy as ever however don't expect a wedding anytime soon. Nick says he's just not ready. Here's more:

"The four-letter word that starts with an 'r' (ring) -- we're not dealing with that one yet," Lachey told "Access Hollywood" correspondent Maria Menounos when she asked if he's looking forward to taking the next big step in his relationship (i.e. an engagement) with his sweetie.

"I'm very happy, I have no complaints," Lachey said in an interview that aired during Monday's broadcast.

Lachey said he was happy that he surprised Minnillo by showing up at her MTV hosting gig on New Year's Eve. "It's always nice to have surprises, especially on New Year's," he said. "If I wanted to spend New Year's with her, that's what I had to do."

The singer, who finalized his divorce from Jessica Simpson last year, says he's happy about the developments 2006 brought on the personal front.

"I had a good feeling about 2006. Good things happened on a business level and personal level. So there was a cool way to reflect on what happened," he said.

Sounds like Nick is in a great place and doesn't want to rock the boat. Still, the way they've been acting lately we were wondering if wedding bells were in the works for 2007. Besides, you never know with celebs. They like to keep us guessing.

So much for the baby news, Nick and Jessica's team duke it out today for some headline love. All morning we saw Nick's name everywhere revealing his upcoming article in Rolling Stone. Now Jessica's team wants to make her look sensitive to everything that is going on. Remember we posted the pics last week of Jess wearing her wedding band? This has somehow turned into a story on People today to remind us that Jessica has fond memories of her marriage and it's an important symbol of her life.

People reports:

"You can still move on and have the memories," a source close to the pop star tells PEOPLE, noting that Simpson, 25, still speaks to her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Nick Lachey, 32. "Nick will always be an important part of her life."

Also on the chain with her 3.5 carat bauble are two crosses â€“ one that her parents gave to her, and another that is identical to a cross worn by both her sister, Ashlee and mother, Tina.

The jewelry pieces represent "a combination of things that are important to her," says the source.

Hmmm, I wonder who the source is??? I smell Pimp Daddy Simpson.

Jessica Covering Up

Tabs are going to have a field day with Jessica. Now US is claiming Jessica has been with Adam Levine since 2004. WOW.

As the not-yet-divorced Jessica Simpson carries on a sexy relationship with Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, sources tell Us the pair first hooked up in 2004, while Simpson was still wed to Nick Lachey.

In an attempt to make sure to cover it up, Pimp Daddy Simpson hoped People would post this picture of Jessica spending her V-day in Santa Fe with lots of ladies. She is filming Employee of the Month and went with these girls to Starbucks and then the tanning salon. No word on if Adam joined her later that evening.

Life & Style Finally Gives Up

After two weeks of insisting Tom and Katie have split, they move on to Nick and Jessica. While most magazines are reporting their nasty divorce, L&S is once again taking the other side and saying the couple may reconcile. It's all just so confusing. Here's more:

OK! is Finally In the US

Welcome OK to the states! The international tabloid has finally arrived and Jessica Simpson is the premiere issue cover girl. Look forward to a full popsugar review later this weekend.

The magazine claims to have "one of the most stunning photo shoots you will see this year and answers the burning questions you want asked. Jessica says she and husband Nick Lachey have fallen in love all over again; she reveals their plans for a family and explains why she feels she's growing up. She even says she wants to save the world

Also in the first issue are Reese Witherspoon's new movie pics, Paris Paris Paris, Nicole in Bikini's, Mishca's new man and Tara Reid who they are calling "everyone's favorite cutie pie." Ha ha...gotta love that. Tara lets us in on some Paris wedding gossip. Seems like a strong start to me.
