Jessica Simpson Can Teach Us a Thing or Two

Jessica Simpson is latest celebrity to be scrutinized for gaining weight, and while the singer has confidence in her own curves, the public criticism probably doesn't feel so great. Regardless of any weight fluctuation, hopefully she's fueling her body with healthy food and fitting exercise into her schedule - it's not all about appearance.

It's easier to stand up for yourself and face harsh remarks when you have a positive support system, and it seems like Jessica's friends and family have her back. Her sister, Ashlee, posted a response on her blog in defense of Jessica and wrote, "All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard." Jessica's former trainer, Harley Pasternak chimed in when Extra approached him for a comment and said, "She has curves where a woman needs to have curves. We all go a little bit up and a little bit down. But she's healthy."

Take a note from Jessica's book and surround yourself with positive people. Whether you're perfectly happy with your body or trying to make a change, it's important to have friends and family who will support you in a healthy way, through any weight ups and downs.

Jessica Simpson put on a happy face for photographers as she arrived in Charlottesville last night for her concert today with Rascal Flatts. Most of you agreed with Ashlee when she spoke out against mean remarks about Jessica's weight, following the pictures of her performing this weekend. According to a friend of the singer's, she recently said: "I'm not fat. Going from a size 2 to a size 8, that's not fat. If I weren't Jessica Simpson, no one would care." The friend added that Jess is having fun with Tony and would rather embrace her curves than listen to all of the haters out there, which sounds like the right plan to us.

A Still Beautiful Jessica Simpson Thanks Her Fans

Jessica Simpson traded her controversial high-waisted jeans for some hot leather pants to sing in Charlottesville last night. She looked comfortable and happy while performing -even kicking off her heels at one point. The singer didn't specifically mention all of the recent weight drama but did thank her fans for support and introduced a new song called "Still Beautiful." She explained "it's about finding the beauty in life" and "always remember that someone out there has it worse than you." Later she added, "I feel like in our world, we focus on so many things that are unimportant." Jess also couldn't pass up a chance to talk about how Tony is changing her life. It sounds like Jess is in a good place, and it must be comforting to have her sister and brother-in-law supporting her along the way.

Ashlee Takes Her Sisterly Love From MP to Broadway

Ashlee Simpson covered her newly dark locks with a hat Saturday as she went through security at LAX. She ditched her signature red color upon finishing up work with Melrose Place, though it remains to be seen what color Ashlee will need for her next role - she confirmed over the weekend that she's set to make her Broadway debut later this month by reprising her role as Roxie Hart in Chicago. Ashlee is also the December cover of Women's Health, and inside the magazine she opens up about her sister Jessica's recent weight controversy by saying, "My sister has an incredible body. . . I feel sorry for anyone who would judge her, because she's one sexy lady."

Jessica Simpson Is So Happy and Doing Really Great

Jessica Simpson was on The Early Show this morning in Nashville to help announce the Academy of Country Music Awards - video of the announcement after the jump - and perform her new single "Pray Out Loud." She had nothing but good things to say about touring with Rascal Flatts, which includes "lots of hugs . . . Texas style." When asked how she's been doing over the past few weeks, Jessica answered, "Honestly, I am right where I'm supposed to be. I am so very, very happy. Everything's really great. It's all about keeping the faith." Jess has been looking amazing and keeping her head up despite all of the drama and was spotted out drinking beers with Tony Romo after her rough show last week. She's also going full steam ahead with her successful brand adding a jewelry line and a bedding and luggage collection.

From breastfeeding to boot camp, celebrities have countless ways of quickly shedding their baby weight - some of them more believable than others. But Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is refreshingly honest about her method, which isn't as easy to imitate.

Simpson told Celebrity Baby Blog that she credits her youth and genes with her ability to slim down after having Bronx, who is now eight months old. Though she exercised, she confesses that getting back in shape didn't require much effort:

"After I had Bronx I lucked out," she admits. "I mean, I’m 24 years old, [I have] the genes from my mother and I did work out for three months."

As many of us know, age can be a big factor when it comes to gaining and easily losing weight. I've often secretly rolled my eyes when the media marvels at how quickly young starlets like Simpson and Jessica Alba get their bodies back after baby. Both Kelly Clarkson and Jessica Simpson have gotten flack for their fluctuating weight, but the starlets don't let it get to them. Jessica talks about embracing her curves, while Kelly complains about being Photoshopped. Now, both ladies are gracing magazine covers and discussing, among other things, their body acceptance.

In the August issue of Glamour, Jessica admits to worrying about her weight from a young age: "I was always disconnected from myself; there was this idea of perfection I couldn't ever get to. But all women struggle with insecurity, and we all have something we don't like about ourselves." Kelly is a bit more laid-back, saying: "My happy weight changes. Sometimes I eat more; sometimes I play more. I'll be different sizes all the time."

While it sounds like both women have a healthy relationship with their bodies, Kelly sounds like she gives it less thought than Jess does. Who are you more like?
