Due out 1st September is a brand-new exciting scent from Jo Malone. I always get especially giddy when they have a new launch because this brand has yet to let me down. I love that you can layer their scents, so I almost look at it as an opportunity to create something just for me, using a mix of their colognes as a base. However, I can't say that I'm totally surprised that Vanilla & Anise is incredible enough to fly solo.

The scent isn't overly sweet like vanilla product can sometimes be. In fact it's much creamier and warmer than you might expect. It was inspired by the delicate and amazing vanilla orchid, and is intended to take you on an escape to the special time of year in Madagascar where vanilla orchids bloom. The fragrance has been blended with bergamot, neroli, wild fennel flower, star anise, oleander, tuberose, tonka bean, frangipani, white amber, vetiver, vanilla bourbon absolute and a touch of spicy clove to give it heart and depth.

Also, their flagship store on Sloane Street is celebrating its 10th anniversary, so if you're in the neighborhood, pop in the shop between the 14th and 20th of September to experience a free hand massage, vanilla champagne, tea and petit fours. Even Jo Malone Gets Excited About The Chelsea Flower Show

Today is the first day of the Chelsea Flower Show! We already know that a few lucky celebrities have gotten a VIP preview, but, the rest of us had to wait until the festivities began at eight in the morning (that is, if you could score a ticket to the sold out show). This really is the ultimate gardening event of the year. Flowers are flown in from all over the world, new tools and products are displayed, and overall, it's a glorious presentation from the green thumbs of the UK. I hear that the fragrances and bountiful colours alone are worth the journey!

It's no wonder that Jo Malone's flagship Sloane Street store wants in on the fun. They've completely transformed the space inside and out with roses to celebrate the event, and are offering those who pass by complimentary hand and arm massages with products from their Red Roses collection. They'll also be tea, rosehip champagne and rose cupcakes - fun!

Apparently, the window displays (roses in the shape of perfume bottles) will be judged by the Royal Horticultural Society and the Sloane Association. They've won for the past two years, so the pressure to come up with something outrageous and creative is on! You can see the display and enjoy their free goodies until 23rd May. Product Review: Jo Malone Sweet Lime & Cedar Collection

A few months ago, Jo Malone released a fragrance called Sweet Lime & Cedar. The unisex scent contains lime, coconut, tamarind, cardamom, cedar, tonka bean, ylang ylang, pandanus leaf, jasmine and was inspired from the flavours of Thai food (yum).

Since the scent proved to be extraordinarily popular, a collection of matching bath and body products has just been launched. In my opinion, because of the spicy, exotic and leafy kick, it's slightly more masculine than feminine. However, I would absolutely wear this in the daytime if I was in the mood for something different.

The Sweet Lime & Cedar collection includes 30 and 100 milliliter colognes (£30 - £59), shower gel (£30), body crème (£44), home candle (£38) and my personal favourite, a sensuous and hydrating dry body oil (£38) that doesn't leave you feeling sticky or wet. The harmonious mix of sweet and tangy makes any bath or shower experience all the merrier. Sweet Lime and Cedar gets two thumbs up in my book.

New Product Alert: Jo Malone's Thai Dish

Homegrown beauty brand Jo Malone has an exotic addition to its fragrance portfolio this month. The new Sweet Lime & Cedar Cologne is inspired by Thai cuisine and has an appealingly spicy fragrance. The perfume is now available in the UK, US and Canada, and from March 2009 will roll out worldwide.

“The fragrance has been designed for both men and women,” Dominic De Vetta, Jo Malone’s global general manager told WWD. “Word of mouth has begun and we are thrilled to have waiting lists in many stores.”

The perfume has notes of Kaffir lime, ylang-ylang, tonka bean, pink pepper, jasmine, pomelo, cedarwood and coconut. It will be available in 30 and 100 ml sizes, which will retail at £30 and £59 respectively. I'm pleased to say that it seems like a fresh approach in an industry saturated with sweet floral and musky vanilla fragrances.

WWD states that according to industry sources it is estimated that Sweet Lime & Cedar Cologne will generate 10 percent of Jo Malone’s fragrance sales in its first year. The popular brand, which also has bath and body, candles and treatments, currently generates $150 million at retail annually, according to sources.

Jo Malone fragrances are designed to be worn together and layered for an individual smell that is unique to each person. Sweet Lime & Cedar, for example, can be paired with Orange Blossom or Grapefruit for a zesty scent.

Fragrance Review: Jo Malone Sweet Lime And Cedar

Do you like Thai food? I love it so much that I'd have to say that it's one of those "more than a once a week" staples for me and Mr. Bella. It's flavorful, healthy, and just about a three- minute walk from my doorstep. Convenience: I'm all for it.

So, when I heard that Jo Malone's new Sweet Lime and Cedar Cologne ($55 to $100) was based on the fine flavors of Thai cuisine, I almost choked on my green papaya salad.

Just as Thai cooking relies on delicately blending ingredients while incorporating the five flavors, Jo Malone's latest fragrance relies on delicately blending aromas to do the same. Sweet, salty, bitter, spicy, and sour - this fragrance has it all. It's got a very distinctively lime, slightly coconutty quality upon first whiff. Then, a spiciness follows. A hint of cardamom gives it some heat, and tonka bean (vanilla-ish) mellows it out. The slightest touch of floral notes makes it smell so pretty. Then - pow! Cedar and tamarind lend a lingering, lofty quality.

All in all, Jo Malone's Sweet Lime and Cedar Cologne is a definite keeper. It's different, exotic, and would work nicely for both men and women. Mr. Bella even requested seconds. "Pad Thai or Beef Pho?" I asked. "No, the perfume!" he said. A man after my own heart.

Coming Soon: Jo Malone Goes Cuckoo For Kohdo Wood

If you're already brainstorming Mother's Day gift ideas, you'll be delighted to hear that Jo Malone is launching a limited-edition double collection next week called Kohdo Wood. The fragrances were inspired by Khodo, a Japanese incense ceremony.

The first fragrance, Lotus Blossom & Water Lily, is intended for daytime and contains a stimulating and energizing blend of grapefruit, bergamot, mandarin, bamboo, lotus blossom, freesia, honeysuckle, water lily, jasmine, aloeswood, musk, amber, guaiac wood and sandalwood. The second scent, Dark Amber & Ginger Lily, is a calming, sexy fragrance that is intended more for evening wear. It contains black cardamom, pink pepper, ginger, jasmine, lily, rose, orchid, amber, pepperwood, leather, patchouli, sandalwood and kyara incense accord.

In true Jo Malone blending form, the fragrances can be worn alone or layered on top of each other (which makes a great day to night transition). The product range includes two colognes ($50-$95), bath oil ($100) and a candle ($65). I've yet to try them, but I am particularly interested in the daytime fragrance, as grapefruit is a weakness of mine. As for the naughty night scent, I know that leather is a big trend in the perfume world right now, but I'm just not a fan. How about you - which scent (if either) are you more eager to smell?

Jo Malone to Create Perfume Garden for RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Last week we reported on the various collaborations which were taking place for this years RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Jo Malone is creating a garden for the event bringing together the various (and occasionally surprising) ingredients that make up her famous fragrances. The World of Jo Malone™ garden will include a range of textures, tone and scents through a combination of elegant flowers, shrubs and climbers.Following the show, the garden will be donated to the Oakleigh School in the London Borough of Barnet which is a special school for children aged 2-11 with disabilities and special needs.
