Fab Flash: Jonthan Saunders Joins London Reunion

London Fashion Week is building up to be a very exciting event this September as some of Britain's biggest design houses bring their designs home.

Burberry announced plans to return back in May and Matthew Williamson was quick to follow suit. This morning it was revealed that Jonathan Saunders will also return, and he might not be the last.

Sienna Miller is a fan of Mr. Saunders and recently wore on of his designs on the red carpet. He commented that he was "delighted" to return and added, "Showing in New York for the last few seasons has been an amazing experience for both me and the business. However, London has always been my home and where I have my studio."

London Fashion Week celebrates its 25th anniversary this year which is looking to be a big event. It will also move to a new home at Somerset House.

Sienna Miller showed off her bold style at the ShoWest Awards in viva Las Vegas wearing a futuristic frock by Jonathan Saunders. Minimal jewels allow Saunders's creation to shine while black sandals by Sergio Rossi further Sienna's ferocity. This severe, body-con red patterned dress is a surprising choice for the bohemian actress, but I think she pulls it off. Do you like it?

Cool London based designer, Jonathan Saunders has created another capsule collection for Topshop. The line consists of five thigh skimming party dresses that were created in Jonathan's funky style with colour block detailing and '80s styling.

It's great that he has found a way to rework the classic LBD with such simple colour panels. I have my eye on the one shoulder dress (£75) which would be perfect for going out.

What do you think of his designs for the store? I think these kind of High Street collaborations are a great way to get your hands on work by young designers at a reduced price.

Look of the Day: Cavalry Chic

Missfox looks like she's ready to battle off the boys in her cavalry chic ensemble. Her military shirt is the real thing - gifted from her gramps - and I like how her Ray-Bans complete her look. While the woodsy background is nice, I can easily see her stomping the city streets in this militant fit.

Style For Style: Using Colorblock to Look Slender

When I first saw model Masha Tyelna in this Dazed & Confused editorial (center), I freaked out: I thought her waist was freakishly small. Upon closer inspection, I realized it's just a fashion illusion created by the black side panels on her strapless dress. Phew! Although her look is over-dramatized, we can take away a thing or two from it, much like how we learned from Leighton Meester that racerbacks can make you appear curvier.

The moral of this story is that colorblock dresses, whose side panels are dark, can make you look inches smaller than you are. That's because, like in Masha's case, it's an optical illusion. Our gaze tends to go toward bright colors, so find a colorblock dress whose panels are dark and inside is bright; attention is drawn to the center of your dress. I hope this will come in handy next time you consider purchasing a colorblock item. Below are some items to get you started.

Target's Go International line is about to see its quirkiest, most avant-garde designs yet thanks to British designer Jonathan Saunders. The news of the collaboration came a few months back and I have no doubt that it excited the fashion-forward crowd. Starting Oct. 5, those who love a little funky in their closet will be able to score art-inspired pieces with splashes of color, modern silhouettes, and unique prints.
For his cheaper collection, ranging from $14.99 to $59.99, Saunders was highly influenced by artists like Gustav Klimt, Jackson Pollock, and Rothko (like far left ombre dress, worn by model Hanne Gaby Odiele). If those names mean nothing to you, perhaps a Wikipedia session prior to purchasing would help.

Fab Flash: Nominees for Scottish Fashion Awards are Announced

The Scottish Fashion Awards are now in their third year and the nominees for this year have just been announced. The event will take place at Stirling Castle on 29th June with Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders and Deryck Walker battling it out for Scottish Fashion Awards Designer of the year.

There is also a new award this year, Scottish Fashion Awards Best use of Tartan by an international designer with Fab favourite Henry Holland in the running. Holland used plenty of tartan in his Autumn/Winter collection including tartan antlers.

This Just In! Target Announces Jonathan Saunders as the 13th GO International Designer

Target has chosen Jonathan Saunders to design its next GO International collection. The highly touted British designer is known for his use of colorblocking and innovative color combinations in his designs. The limited-edition collection will be available early October. Remember he also did a collection for Topshop? And, we didn't fancy it that much. Guess we'll have to wait and see if this one is a bigger success!
