Joshua Jackson Sets His Sights on a UFO

Looks like Joshua Jackson is ready to take his sci-fi acting experience from Fringe to the big screen. The actor will star in UFO, a film adaptation of the British TV series from the '70s. Jackson will play leading man Paul Foster, a test pilot who must protect our planet from a new race of body-snatching extraterrestrials.

As a bonus, Matthew Gratzner - the man behind Iron Man and Superman Returns - is on board for special effects, so you know Jackson's pretty face won't be the only stunning visual.

We haven't seen a whole lot of Jackson on the silver screen recently, so I'm looking forward to his triumphant return - even if alien entertainment isn't exactly my favorite genre. What do you make of this news? Are you familiar with the original TV show?

Nikki and Anna Bring Twilight Sparkle Behind the Camera

Nikki Reed was fresh off her long press weekend supporting New Moon but got dressed up last night to pose with costar Anna Kendrick at MovieLine's Behind the Camera Awards in LA. They joined adorable couple Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger, who's back to focusing on film after her fashion-related party earlier in the week. Nikki and Anna were on hand to honor their special effects editor Susan MacLeod, and Diane came out on behalf of Inglourious Basterds producer Lawrence Bender. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, meanwhile, presented their (500) Days of Summer screenwriters with statues. The event was designed to honor those who labor behind the scenes, but the well-dressed ladies couldn't help but take a little bit of the spotlight.

Josh Lights Up the Fringe Vancouver Set

Joshua Jackson kept warm with a cigar while on the Vancouver set of Fringe on Saturday. The actor is used to the cool weather of his hometown, but he kept a sweater on between takes over what was the Thanksgiving long weekend in Canada. Josh's girlfriend Diane has said that she'd love to guest star on a future episode, but until then we have Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy to keep the cameos exciting.

Joshua Jackson Stays on the Fringe of the Action

Joshua Jackson flashed a smile on Sunday as he checked out a sporting event with a few friends in Vancouver. He decided to stay up in Canada for the weekend, while his Fringe costar Anna Torv headed to LA for the Primetime Emmy Awards. Both he and Anna were back on our small screens last Thursday night with the their second season premiere, so we have more Joshua manjoyment to look forward to on a weekly basis.

Josh Returns to Fringe Where Diane Would Love to Guest Star!

Joshua Jackson looked cute and a little wrinkled as he arrived at the Vancouver airport earlier this morning. He'll soon continue working on the second season of Fringe after spending last week at the TCAs in LA, where he chatted about his show and made time to party with Diane Kruger. He also revealed his excitement to film in his hometown, and he'll be able to focus fully on the series while Diane's off promoting Inglourious Basterds. It looks like he won't be on her arm at tonight's LA premiere, but at Sunday's press junket she did reveal that she is a big fan of his show and would love to guest star as one of the disgusting monsters on the series - lots more from that interview coming up soon!

Josh Brings Diane to Party With Glee Kids For Fox in Pasadena

The stars of Fox partied the night away after a successful day of TCA presentations in Pasadena yesterday. Joshua Jackson had Diane Kruger with him all day and at the party, though she stayed out of the spotlight. Diane almost blended in with the crowd as she sipped a beer while Josh fielded questions about Fringe. He also talked about how much he loved going to Comic-Con and interacting with all the fans. The cast of Glee took it all in as everyone wanted to congratulate them on their upcoming show, though Lea Michele said she was mostly looking forward to everyone finally seeing more than just the pilot. Meanwhile, Buzz was off at the So You Think You Can Dance finale, where she chatted with the winner Jeanine - check it out here!

Fringe Talks "Over Here" and "Over There" at TCA

Remember when Fringe was going to be the less-complicated, easy-to-follow JJ Abrams series? The show's season finale, in which we learned of an alternate universe where characters we already know - or possibly their doubles - frequently appear would seem to have changed all that. But at TCA on Thursday, the producers stressed that they weren't going to give the audience more than they can handle.

For one thing, there won't be an additional universe that we discover later. They're only dealing with the two we've seen (basically, "over here" and "over there," over there being the home of William Bell). And producer Jeff Pinkner stressed that through visual cues and other things, it will be easy to tell what universe you're in at any given time. "We have no desire to be cute or confusing," Pinkner said. "We always want and take great pains . . . to take the audience with us."

The alternate universe twist was always planned, producer Alex Kurtzman said, but it wasn't supposed to be until the end of season three. But the feedback they got signaled that fans were ready - so they decided to jump ahead with it. For more on what's to come, read more.

This season will still have plenty of stand-alone stories - as Joshua Jackson pointed out, the simple fact that each investigation has a beginning, middle, and end gives every episode its own separate plot - but they'll be tied more into the characters. (Having seen the first episode of the new season, I can confirm that's certainly true in the premiere.)

Speaking of "over there," Leonard Nimoy will be back as William Bell "as much as he wants," Pinkner said. They've already filmed one additional episode with him, and there will be several more to come.

Fox Day Means SYTYCD, Lots of Paula, Glee and Josh Jackson

So You Think You Can Dance kicked off Fox's TCA panels this morning with some Paula Abdul talk and - naturally - some dancing. Precious Cat Deeley introduced the popular routines from the season though the top four weren't able to come as they were busy getting ready for tonight's finale! Nigel Lythgoe continued to express how much he would love to have Paula Abdul on Dance, but also said he's not convinced she won't be back on American Idol. The Fox execs were up next and that was all about Paula, Paula, Paula - check out the big news from that here. After lunch the highly-anticipated Glee cast took the stage and Buzz has all the details of the panel. Joshua Jackson looked hot and brought out his sarcastic sense of humor promoting Fringe. He joked that Vancouver has "become Acapulco" weather-wise but that he "never expected to get the gift to be back home for work." He may always be Pacey to me, but he's clearly already gathered a new following for his popular sci-fi show.

Joshua Returns Home to Canada and Fringe

Joshua Jackson was hard at work Monday on the Vancouver set of Fringe. He spent his Summer hiatus appearing at parties and vacationing around the world with Diane Kruger, but now he's filming on locations around his native Canada. Diane's Inglourious Basterds hits screens at the end of August, so hopefully he'll be able to take time off from the series to hit the red carpet at a premiere or two.
