Julia Says Bye to Stay in Bali With Javier

Julia Roberts took a break from work on Eat, Pray, Love Monday to take her kids Hazel and Phinnaeus to the airport in Bali. Her children have had quite a year of travel, from their Summer vacation at Lake Como to their family trip to Hawaii. Julia stayed behind in Indonesia to keep filming with Javier Bardem, who spent his afternoon solo at the Ubud market. He recently saw off his own on location guest, Penelope Cruz, who headed to promote Broken Embraces following their romantic time on the beach a few weeks ago.

Julia, Danny and Kids Still Relaxing in Hawaii Bikini-Style

Julia Roberts was still enjoying her family fun time with the kids in Hawaii over the weekend and this time we got to see Danny with the crew. Julia looked refreshed showing off more from her bikini collection while her celebrity babies Hazel, Phinnaeus and Henry splashed around with friends. Earlier this week across the world in Venice, Valentino said that dressing Julia Roberts when she won her Oscar was one of the highlights of his career, but the red carpet is the farthest thing away from being in relaxing vacation mode. Of course leave it to Julia to maintain her glamorous movie star air no matter where she is, and seeing her so happy with her husband and their adorable kids make the playful scene all the more fun.

Pop Watch: Brothers & Sisters, Ep 10 "The Feast of Epiphany"

This week’s episode of Brothers & Sisters was all about whether or not you should tell the truth, even when the truth would hurt someone – a pretty appropriate topic for most of the Walkers really, and a fair few truths came out.

Nora arranged a big family dinner so that her children could chaperone her “date” with Isaac (loving Nora’s dating nerves!) and, as is the case whenever the family get together en masse, a few secrets were revealed. Julia dropped a bombshell, Justin had a little something to say to his siblings, Robert admitted his thoughts about the future to Kitty, and Kevin came clean with Scotty.

The episode started with Nora inviting Isaac for dinner with the family while he's in town with Kitty and Robert. Nora visits Sarah at Ojai to invite all of the kids to the dinner, although she's getting suspicious about why Tommy and Justin haven't been in the same room recently. Sarah does a funny little song to tease her Mum about Isaac, singing "Mum's hot for a Republican". Heh.
That David character who I got suspicious about last week was back again, chatting away with Rebecca telling her all about Holly as an actress. When Holly gets back he whispers to her "She's wonderful" - why is he so interested in Rebecca hmm? Rebecca invites him for dinner and it is awkward city - Holly tells him she doesn't trust him and tells him to leave. Later on in the episode Rebecca says what I've been thinking, asking Holly if David could be her father, but Holly's quick to deny it. I'm not convinced - are you?
Kevin was on funny form as usual when he attempted to mediate a truce between Tommy and Justin (who is still seeing Lena and keeping it quiet) so that the pair of them will go to Nora's dinner. He says "She thinks as a family we'll make a good impression - deluded, I know". Kevin's keeping a little secret himself though, having received an email from Jason to say he's coming back and wants to meet for lunch. Hmmm, this doesn't sound good for Scotty.
Kitty talks about wanting a baby with Robert, who avoids the conversation and gets on with trying to battle his new nickname of "Senator McWaffler". He arranges, on Isaac's suggestion, to attend a Q&A with a group of veterans to discuss his experience in the Gulf, which is pretty tricky at first but turns out well in the end. Robert also refuses to use Adamson's disabled son as a tool in his campaign - good for you Robert.
So the time comes for all the Walkers to gather for paella and Isaac toasts them, with Nora toasting Robert's campaign - the mother-in-law is starting to turn! Kitty asks the group if they knew the truth about something would they say, and Julia pipes up to say the truth isn't worth knowing if someone's going to get hurt. Interesting ...
Kitty and Robert head in to the kitchen to "talk" and Robert reveals to Kitty that he doesn't want children now. There are joined by the other siblings, with Justin admitting he's still seeing Lena, and Julia walks in just as Tommy says "Lena was a mistake". Oh my God! Everyone goes back to the table and Julia starts crying. Nora discovers what happened and says "You can't just sit there and cry. Yell at him or hit him. I'll come over there and hit him". Yay for Nora! But then Julia drops a bombshell - she slept with someone else too. Ohmygoodness!
The dinner ends well for Nora and Isaac though. He's enjoying her company and says "the truth sets you free". He also says he wants to go for dinner just the two of them (sounds like a much better plan!) and they hold hands. Awww. Do you prefer Nora with Isaac, or with Stan (Chevy Chase)?
After all the drama at dinner Sarah goes into Ojai on Sunday and Graham turns up with a packed lunch that he shares with her. Earlier in the episode he had invited Sarah to dinner but she wasn't in the mood to be won over easily and she asked him whether he'd ever cheated. I've had my doubts about Graham but I'm starting to warm to him. I'd love to see Sarah in a happy relationship.
With all the talk of truth and honesty the night before, Kevin calls Scotty the morning after the dinner party and tells him about his upcoming lunch with Jason. I'm relieved to see Kevin acting responsibly, but I'm concerned about the reappearance of Jason. Please don't let it be the end for Kevin and Scotty!
Also reeling from the previous evening's revelations, Tommy takes Lizzie round to see Nora, having talked with Julia about where they can go from there. He tells Nora that they're going to try to move past it and Nora reassures Tommy that he's not his father.
The episode ends with Kitty and Robert discovering that Adamson's stepped down from the Presidential race, having admitted that he had hidden his son away. I think that Robert's political campaign is an interesting addition to the show and stops it becoming too insular - what do you think about the political dimension?

Pop Watch: Brothers & Sisters, Ep 8 "Something New"

The last few episodes of Brothers & Sisters have been pretty intense, so I was super-pleased that last night's installment had fun and laughs and lots of romance, as well as cameo appearances (Lyle Lovett) and new characters (Steven Weber as Graham).

The opening of the episode was a good indication of what was to come, with Nora's five children gathered with her at the house trying to help Kitty decide what song to pick for her and Robert's first dance, with them all talking about what song they lost their virginity to, including Nora (much to Justin's horror)! This leads on to Nora emailing her first love Stan Harris (played by Chevy Chase) to meet for dinner, while all five of her children experience important moments in their romantic relationships.

When Robert arrives at Nora's, Kevin learns that Jason has spoken to Robert a couple of times but still hasn't returned any of Kevin's calls. He returns home and asks Scotty to be his guest at the wedding. A little later on, Scotty brings leftover lobster back for dinner and Kevin starts talking about getting candles out. You can fight it all you want Kevin - we all know you and Scotty are meant to be!
Kitty visits Rebecca and thanks her for her help with Justin and, in a prime example of how much Kitty has changed this series, she asks Rebecca to be her bridesmaid. When Rebecca is shocked as she didn't even know whether she was going to be invited to the wedding, Kitty says that of course she is as she's her sister. They share a really sweet moment and hug it out. Yay!
Over at Ojai Saul and Sarah are speaking with private consultant Graham (played by Steven Weber), who is encouraging them to employ his services to expand into China. Sarah looks interested, and I'm not talking about the business deal. When Sarah is trying on bridesmaids' dresses a little later on, Graham calls her to invite her to dinner to talk about the options. Any excuse hey?

Over at the vineyard Tommy tells Holly he has broken it off with Lena, who arrives a few seconds later in a skimpy top with Tommy's favourite pastry. She answers the phone and it's Julia, who is actually right outside with Lizzie! Tommy introduces his wife to his ex-mistress and it is awkward city, with Tommy quickly ushering his family out of the door. Holly asks Lena if she wants to keep her job, and when she says yes Holly replies "You might want to rethink the work wardrobe". Heh. Back at home, Julia apologises to Tommy and says she wants things to go back to how they were, which Tommy's in total agreement with. There's no way this reunion is going to go smoothly, is there?
Kitty and Robert are at a dance studio to learn a few steps, and things get tense when Kitty struggles but Robert knows all the moves and wants to go and deal with the campaign rather than sort out their first dance. Kitty is clearly struggling with this not being Robert's first wedding, which becomes even more obvious when she's trying on Nora's wedding dress back at home - not even her dress is new. Nora comes in all dressed up for her date, and Justin pulls Rebecca aside to apologise for all the things he said to her in last week's episode, but their conversation is interrupted by a phone call from my favourite character: yep, it's Lena asking him to meet her. Urgh.

Nora is so adorable on her date with Stan, talking ten to the dozen about the traffic and then when he compliments her she says "Don't look too close, my neck looks like someone's curtains". Love Nora! They both admit they're nervous, but manage to share a really great evening. So much so that they agree to go out the following night, and Stan drives Nora to the place they saw Bob Dylan (and where they first did "it"). They sit in the open-top car, reminiscing and listening to "Girl From the North Country" (one of my favourite Dylan songs) and Nora invites him to Kitty's wedding.
While Nora's getting happy with Stanny, Kevin's getting kissy-kissy with Scotty! They had fallen asleep on each other on the sofa and when they woke up they couldn't help themselves. We later see Kevin in his office, finally getting to speak to Jason on the phone. He's overwhelmed to hear Jason's voice, but says they need to talk. Ooh, that always spells trouble ...
Tommy is just about to leave the house (and a sleeping Julia) when his phone rings - it's Lena. He immediately gets angry with her for calling him, but she explains she's just phoning to let him know his meeting has been cancelled. Julia wakes up and asks what's going on, and Tommy says he'll make breakfast. There is no way Tommy is going to be able to deal with this situation, especially when he finds out what we all see, which is Lena going on a coffee date with Justin. They go back to her place and joke around and Justin gets ready to leave, but then he changes his mind and they start kissing. Nooo Justin, step away from the Lena.
Sarah, meanwhile, is at dinner with Graham. She tells him he's all too smooth with his Italian suits and business plans, but he says he can help the company get government subsidies to launch their international expansion. It's clear these two are attracted to each other, but there's something about this guy that I just don't trust. I hope I'm wrong.
Kevin returns to the flat to find Scotty packing, as things have got complicated. Kevin says that he's broken up with Jason and he wants to be with Scotty - even though it was messy before, Kevin now knows that he won't be happy if he takes the easy option. Yay for Kevin and Scotty!
Having been told by Holly that's she's turning into a shrinking violet and needs to speak her mind to the Walkers, Rebecca does exactly that at her and Sarah's next bridesmaid dress fitting. She says the colour's awful and it doesn't suit her or Sarah. When they talk about whether Julia would look good in the blue dress Kitty says "Julia looks good in anything", to which Sarah adds "Bitch". Love Sarah's biting one-liners. The beautiful dress that Kitty saw earlier ("the one") is now on sale and Rebecca tells her she shouldn't feel like she has to wear Nora's dress, so Kitty gets that "something new" she wanted.
Kitty tells Nora that she's found "the one" and Nora's fine about her daughter not wearing her wedding dress. In fact, Nora takes the dress to be dyed and altered so that she can wear it as part of her new life. Meanwhile, Robert takes Kitty to a campaign rally venue and surprises her with Lyle Lovett! He sings for the couple and they dance, with Robert telling Kitty "You make everthing new". Awww.

Mommy Julia Roberts Shows Reading Can Be Fun in Allure

I was thrilled to see Julia Roberts open up about motherhood and making family a priority in the March issue of Allure. The spread offers a sweet look at the "Domestic Goddess," (that's Allure's caption, but judging her down to earth demeanor it suits her) and manages to sneak in this beautiful photo of the mother of three reading Munro Leaf's classic book Reading Can Be Fun.

Leaf is known to most as the author of the controversial children's book The Story of Ferdinand, but published about 40 kitschy guidebooks for children in the '30s and '40s, many of which have been reprinted in the last few years. The series, which includes Manners Can Be Fun, Brushing Your Teeth Can Be Fun, How to Speak Politely and Why, How to Behave and Why and Reading Can Be Fun (all about $15), features stick-figure illustrations and wholesome, verse-y text aimed at teaching children the rules of thoughtfulness and etiquette. I wonder if Julia and Danny read the series to little Hazel, Phinnaeus and Henry before bed.

Birthday Wishes For Pretty Woman Julia and Retiring Joaquin

After posing for photos on the red carpet, Julia Roberts, Casey Affleck, Bruce Willis, and Tom Hanks were just a handful of the A-listers who performed last night in honor of Paul Newman. Joined on stage by the children from the Painted Turtle Camp, the actors got into costume and character as Jack Nicholson narrated The World of Nick Adams. While remembering Paul was a key element of the night, there were also plenty of jokes. Julia Roberts even touched on her role in Pretty Woman and when asked about a sequel, she said, "No one wants to see an old hooker! Do they?" While Julia was busy rejecting sequel ideas, Joaquin Phoenix declared that he's quitting acting entirely to focus on his music career. Both Julia and Joaquin are celebrating birthdays today, but it seems as if helping others is top of mind these days.

There are lots of celebrities that sport ink to honor their children. Think Julia Roberts's lower-back tattoos and Angelina Jolie's upper-arm designs, which show the birthplace coordinates of each of her six youngsters. Even George Clooney Is Obsessed With Clive Owen

Clive Owen looks seriously sexy for the March issue of Esquire. He's been making the rounds promoting The International with Naomi Watts and up next, Clive will start working on Duplicity press with Julia Roberts. In the magazine, he talks about his family yet again while Julia reveals what she thinks makes her costar so lovable. Here are some highlights:

On why he likes soccer: "Outside of being home with my family, I prefer a crowd. At a soccer match, the big crowd, the singing, rocking around, it's urgent as hell. There's a ritual to it. I want to be in that mess. And no one bothers me. At a soccer game, everyone's eyes are on the pitch, aren't they? They don't care about some f***ing movie star. They have their eyes on the right thing. They watch the battle."
On preparing for a role: "I do a lot better if I sit around and think about a character for a couple of months. Before I climb into him for a run, I've just sat on my a** thinking about him, just reading, plodding around my house, driving my girls to school, fixing eggs. Like that. There's not a lot of transformation in it. I'm still just a driver to my children."
Julia Roberts on Clive: "George Clooney is obsessed with Clive. Every good-guy actor talks about Clive as one of their very favorites. Because he's English, because his successes have stood on the shoulders of his talents alone, because he hasn't just been carried away by popular culture. He's almost the most free of all of those guys. [...] The only surprise about Clive was how absolutely ferocious he could be on camera. When we shot Closer, he used to make me cry. He's a kind of emotional terrorist, so vicious. The thing about Clive is the happiness and security he has in real life is what allows him to go into a room and grab everyone's attention effortlessly. The secret is, everyone is really attracted to contentment."

Clive may prefer to blend in as a doting dad than to stand out as a movie star, but it has to be at least a little flattering to know he's raising the bar for his fellow A-listers like Clooney.

Julia Roberts Is the Luckiest Girl in Town

Julia Roberts hit the beach with a handful of rings for the March issue of Allure. The interview kicks off her promotion for Duplicity with Clive Owen. The actress already weighed in on her costar and how George Clooney loves him, but now it's her turn in the spotlight. Julia enjoys time out of the spotlight when she's not working, and here she talks about her husband and how she keeps her family running. Here are highlights:

On how people should deal with a broken heart: "You have to shed the tears; you have to purge it and have the full commitment to the fact that you're hurt."
On working with her husband: "There's a great combination of nerves and comfort that I get with him, the one who's looking at me through the camera."
On family: The coolest thing you can do for your children is to love each other in their presence. I'm the luckiest girl in town, I really am."
On her kids: "Danny and I talk about, 'What did we do with all the time we must have had?' Because you don't recognize it as such, until you have all these little . . . time thieves running around your house."

Julia's role as a mom has always been her number one priority, but we're looking forward to seeing the movie star back up on the big screen.

Wonder Woman: Julia Roberts

Since she first came on the scene as a teenage waitress in 1988's Mystic Pizza, Julia Roberts has charmed her way into the hearts of theater-goers. Now appearing in her first starring role in five years, the Duplicity star has chosen motherhood over Hollywood glamour. Splitting her time between homes in Taos, NM and New York City, the actress spends more time watching her three tots - twins Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus Walter, 4, and Henry Daniel,1, - than acting. She recently posed for Allure reading a children's book and told the U.K.'s Telegraph:

"Of course my life has changed and I work less, but I was never really one to work too much. I never really did years of movie-after-movie-after-movie but when you've got three toddlers in the house you're performing all day long, anyway, with puppet shows and stories---I act around the clock."

While many Hollywood mamas talk the talk, Roberts truly appears to walk the mommy walk.
