For years I'd bring photos of celebrities whose hair I coveted to the salon so that my stylist could get an idea of the look I was after. Most of the pictures were of Jennifer Aniston and Elle Macpherson, whose long, flowing golden highlights I envied - and by the looks of it, Cameron Diaz does the same thing! A little while back she was seen carrying a photo of Kate Moss to a hair appointment in Los Angeles. So ladies, it's time to spill it. Do you travel with pictures of other women's hair so that your stylist can re-create their look on you?

Love It or Hate It? Kate Moss's Mid-Length Hair

It's been the week of the haircut, what with Victoria Beckham's gamine crop and Agyness Deyn's new sleek bob. Now Kate Moss has gone for the chop with this super-messy mid-length cut. Kate was showing off her hair at Punk last night, as she stepped out with boyfriend Jamie Hince.

Kate's trademark blonde locks look like they've been lopped off with blunt cut scissors, giving this style an insouciant edge. The choppy, messy ends and fluffy texture also add a youthful vibe, although it looks like the kind of hairstyle you go for when your hairdresser demands you chop off the ends due to over-styling damage. This mussed-up do is certainly rock n roll and the new shorter length draws attention to her perfect features.

Get Kate Moss Hair on the Cheap

It's hard not to carry on our obsession with Kate Moss, especially as she looks so fresh-faced and pretty on the cover of Vogue this month. Now you can emulate the supermodel's trademark blonde locks for the bargain price of just £10. Kate's hairdresser and all-round bezzy mate, James Brown, is launching a new shampoo and conditioner duo at Boots, this week.

As well as being Kate's mane man, James is also the coiffeur to a whole host of stars and has over twenty years experience on shoots. James did Kate's hair on the legendary 1992 Vogue cover, shot by Corinne Day, and at 22 was the youngest ever hairdresser to earn such a career distinction. While it'd be practically impossible (and expensive) to secure a cut and colour with the man himself, his James Brown London line is cheap as chips.

The shampoo and conditioner duo is especially good if, like Kate, you have that typically British fine straight hair that's not overly thick. It adds volume and shine, as well making blonde hair look even brighter. I wouldn't recommend it for dry or very thick hair though. I'm used to a super-thick conditioner so out of the range only his Richly Moisturising Conditioner, (£5.99), works for my hair. Having said that, less thick-haired friends have waxed lyrical about the shampoo and conditioner duo, and if it's good enough for Kate...

Would You Would Trek Into London To See a Celebrity Stylist?

Hair guru James Brown has finally opened his doors to his Marylebone hair salon last night. I've been anticipating (and praying) for a salon, since his products are some of my faves. The star studded party which included guests like Kate Moss (natch), Kimberly Stewart, Lily Donaldson, and Jenny Frost looked like it mixed business with pleasure, as James was pictured playing with his friends and their gorgeous hair throughout the evening.

I can hardly wait to go in for a blowout at the very least and finally get to meet James in person. What are your thoughts on celebrity hair salons? Would you come into the city to see him or do you think it's waste of time and probably just overpriced?

Beauty Byte: Kate Moss Co-Creates Hair Care Line

WWD reports that Kate Moss is planning to launch a line of hair care products with her long-time childhood friend and famous coiffeur-but not the late, great godfather of soul-James Brown. Brown's client list is almost as impressive as Kate's resume. He's worked on the heads of top celebs such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gisele Bundchen and both Beckhams.

The collection will be called James Brown London, and it will comprise sixteen different products ranging from shampoos to conditioners to serums. All products are priced at £5.99 ($12.16 at the current exchange rate), except for the Intensive Mask tubes which will cost £7.99 ($16.22). The line is expected in UK stores next month.

Kate Moss directed and posed in the black-and-white ads for the line. The idea was to have simple pictures because the philosophy for the brand is simple. The prices aren't insane, the packaging is very plain and concept is really user-friendly. For example, the products are numbered according to hair type so that users will know what goes with what.

I really it like when models and celebs launch beauty products. After all, they are the ones who suffer the strains from over-processing and over-styling, so why not try something that they feel really helps them?

Does it seem naive to assume that celebrities actually use something they endorse? I don't know, but I just have a good feeling about this-maybe it's because Kate herself has financial stake in the company. Combined with her new fragrance launch, it looks like Kate the Great is becoming a real beauty queen.

Hair How-To: Sienna Miller

Ever noticed how all our national style icons have messy hair? Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Alexa Chung all have artfully scruffy barnets. Not-too-perfect hair stops you looking overdone when your makeup is polished and you're wearing this season's Lanvin-esque, bright silk dress. Just to go down the pub in. Or maybe that's just me...

Keep your hair looking undone, and more than a little unkempt, with these quick tips:

Rough blow dry hair after washing. You don't need a brush, just use the dryer with your fingers. Tip your head upside down if you need more volume.
When hair is about 90% dry, ruffle it up with your hands whilst blasting from different directions with the dryer for a more natural, messy look.
Add texturiser to the ends, such as Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, (£16), to make the hair less fluffy
Sienna and Kate generally look like they don't brush their hair too often. It's an obvious point but go easy on the brushing and let your hair get a windswept look – (not too tricky in this weather!) Wearing sunglasses on the top of your head, or a pin to the side like Sienna, also ruffles up the hair. This creates temporary layers around the face and looks suitably dishevelled.

Love It or Hate It? Kate Moss' Pink Hair

Not content with her new choppy hair cut, Kate Moss has gone the way of Lily Allen and dyed her hair pink. The stripes of pink dye, which didn't look permanent, were all part of the fun as the model attended her daughter Lila Grace's birthday party this weekend in London.

I'm not sure what the theme was but Kate was also sporting zebra print trousers, so I have to assume there was a definite My Little Pony vibe going on.

Kate Moss and James Brown Are In A Hair Raising Row

Can this BFF rift really be true? For years, hairdressers and celebrities have been besties. Take Jessica Simpson and Ken Paves, Jennifer Aniston and Chris McMillan and SJP and Serge Norman for example. And, on this side of the pond, our favourite duo was Kate Moss and James Brown.

They've known each other since they were teens and have even become business partners launching a line of haircare products and a salon. However, apparently they're on the outs, and according to the Daily Mail, it's more than just a little row, the friendship could be in serious trouble. It appears that Kate is upset about how much airtime she got on James' Supermodel Salon TV documentary and when the Mail spoke with James at a Mulberry Made For Apple party, he said:

"She maintains her hair herself nowadays."
Friendship and business can get sticky, but I'm hoping these old pals can figure out a way to patch things up soon!

It looks like the British beauty has yet again trimmed her tresses for the Mummy Rocks charity event last night, going with heavy layering around her crown and an edgy dark dye underneath (anyone else care to assume that this influence came from her badass rocker man Jamie Hince?)
