How-To: Kate Winslet's Hair at the 2009 Oscars

Whether you loved it or hated it, Kate Winslet’s hair at the Oscars last night was like a work of art. Seriously, get a load of the texture, waves, and flawless finish. Would you like to learn how to get the now Oscar-winning actress's modern-day Grace Kelly style? You’re in luck. I’ve got the instructions directly from the stylist, Renato Campora of Frederic Fekkai below. And if you like Kate's makeup, too, here's the how-to so that you can get the complete Oscar-winning ensemble.

First, apply Fekkai More All-Day Density Styling Whip ($25) on wet hair.
Then, blow-dry the hair until smooth, using the Fekkai Extra-Large Round Brush ($65) to create volume.
Next, curl hair with a one-inch curling iron, and let set for about 20 minutes.
Brush through the style, and use Fekkai Coiff Magnifique Ultra-Light Finishing Creme ($23) on the ends to help roll the hair under.
Finish with Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray ($23).

We haven't seen much of Kate Winslet 'round these parts recently, so it was a welcome surprise to see her at last night's premiere of her new movie, The Reader, in NYC - looking rather gorgeous, I might add. And as our British friends would say, it appears that she's been on holiday. The talented actress, who normally keeps her blond hair in soft waves with simply pretty pink or peachy-toned makeup, turned up the sexy factor to a 10+ with a tanned glow and va va voom style.Which way do you fancy Winslet? Perhaps the favorite to win Best Actress for her role in The Reader, Kate Winslet arrived at tonight's Oscars looking ready for a win. She went classic with her hair pulled back in a style that is stolen straight from the golden years of yore. She went just as timeless with her makeup look. Her brows are stark, but she's softened the look with her ombre-shadowed eyes, pink pinched cheeks, and darker-hued lips. What do you think of Kate's overall style? The red carpet was red hot last night filled with the most acclaimed stars from 2009's silver screen. Everyone arrived decked out to the nines, just as you'd suspect for the biggest night in Hollywood. The beauty looks (don't forget to vote on them here) were polished, simple and elegant this year with no overly surprising or dramatic makeup looks, however, the hair was something to talk about. Intricate updos, retro waves and half-up, half down hairstyles abounded. Out of these eight diverse looks, which do you like most?

Trend Alert: Umbrellas and Updo's at The BAFTAs

All of the nominees who chose to walk tonight's BAFTA Awards red carpet wearing their hair up came out on top. About halfway through the glamorous coverage, the skies opened up and the rains came pouring down. Luckily, umbrellas and willing assisants were there to shield the dresses, tuxedo's and all of the hard work of makeup artists and hair dressers. I loved the extravagance of Penelope Cruz, the relaxed undone plaits on Emma Watson and the traditional elegance of Amy Adams the most. Out of these eight looks, which updo is your favourite?

Kate Winslet Steps Out of the Spotlight

Kate Winslet tried to keep her hair protected from the rain as she took a call in NYC on Friday. After taking a long break from red carpet events post award season, Kate was back to posing at a screening of Away We Go earlier in the week. Now it's her husband Sam's time to shine, though Kate seems perfectly happy to play arm candy after her long turn in the limelight.

All The Winners From The 2009 BAFTA Awards!

What a night! I've just got back from the BAFTA Awards 2009, so - without further ado - here are all the winners! Slumdog Millionaire had a very successful evening, winning seven awards including Best Film and Director for Danny Boyle, Kate Winslet took home the Leading Actress award for her role in The Reader, while Mickey Rourke made a fantastic amusing speech when he picked up the award for Leading Actor.

The late Heath Ledger was awarded Supporting Actor, Penelope Cruz took home Supporting Actress and the lovely Noel Clarke was awarded the Orange Rising Star Award. The long list of award presenters included Shia LaBeouf, Goldie Hawn, Sharon Stone, Emma Watson, Jim Sturgess and Kylie Minogue while Jonathan Ross presided over the ceremony itself.

2009 Bafta Awards - The Nominations

Jonathan Ross will host the Bafta Awards this year, he announced via his Twitter yesterday, and all of the nominations for this year's ceremony have now been released. The ceremony will take place at the Royal Opera House in London on February 8, and Kate Winslet continues her awesome awards season with two nominations in the best actress category, and Slumdog Millionaire has an enormous 11 nominations including Best Actor for lovely Dev Patel! Last night's Golden Globe Awards brought together the biggest celebrites in television and film, with leading ladies like big winner Kate Winslet, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Renee Zellweger, Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore, Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Glenn Close, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and so many more lining up on the red carpet in their glamorous dresses. Newly blonde Drew worked some big hair, while her buddy Cameron and fellow superstar Angelina kept theirs down and relaxed.

Anything-but-basic black was the popular colour for Renee, Kate and Tina Fey, as well as Evan Rachel Wood, Sally Hawkins, and Amy Adams.
