Are You More Interested in Theater If a Big Name Is Involved?

Theater casting makes big news when a high-profile actor is involved, such as today's news that Keira Knightley is set to make her debut on London's West End in the play Misanthrope.

I'm well aware that Broadway and the West End don't need movie stars to boost the caliber of talent in their productions, but people do seem to sit up and take notice when a movie star decides to take an onstage role. Remember when Katie Holmes boosted the notoriety of Broadway's All My Sons?

When I'm buying tickets, I usually choose based on the title rather than the name attached, but every now and then I can't help myself (like when Sarah Jessica Parker hit Broadway in Once Upon a Mattress). What about you?

Keira Knightley to Tread the Boards in West End

Keira Knightley is set to make her West End debut in December. She will play an American film star opposite fellow Brit Damian Lewis in Moliere's The Misanthrope, which is due to open at the Comedy Theatre on 17 December and run until 13 March. Keira has already started preparing for the role ahead of official rehearsals next month, and has reportedly been working with a voice coach and taking singing lessons to help with projection.

Set in modern-day London (rather than the original 17th century Paris), the play will be directed by Thea Sharrock, who directed Daniel Radcliffe in Equus. With Jude Law and Sienna Miller currently on Broadway, and Daniel Radcliffe heading that way too, I'm really excited that at least one of our major stars will be on stage in London, what about you?

Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend cuddled up for a walk around London this week. The happy couple was out soaking up the Summer sun together, just a few days after a late night out toasting a short film they worked on together called The Continuing and Lamentable Saga of the Suicide Brothers. It looks like Keira was making the most of her day off from her current project, London Boulevard, which she's been working on with Colin Farrell for the past few weeks.

Keira Knightley looked like she was going undercover on the set of London Boulevard in her hat, sunglasses and coat yesterday. We've also seen Colin Farrell filming scenes for the movie, which stars Anna Friel and David Thewlis too, so I'm looking forward to seeing all the stars together. Keira's been hard at work filming Never Let Me Go, but with her desire to balance her career and personal life, she'll no doubt be making time for kisses with Rupert.

Colin Farrell's Smokin' Hot On Set

Colin Farrell was spotted enjoying a cigarette break on the set of his new movie London Boulevard today, in which he stars alongside Keira Knightley, Anna Friel and David Thewlis. The movie's about an ex-convict who gets involved with a reclusive actress, and it's filming in London at the moment! The gorgeous Irishman also has some exciting things going on in his personal life too as he's set to be best man at his brother Eamon's wedding. Eamon will be marrying his partner Steven Mannion in Europe this summer, and I can only imagine the kinds of entertaining things that Colin will say in his speech!

The duo looked happy to be spending time together, especially considering that Keira is recovering from a recent cold and has been so busy filming Never Let Me Go. Keira's famously silent about her relationships, but we do know that she places a high priority on making time for her man despite her hectic work schedule.

Keira and Rupert Find Time For Kisses

Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend kissed and snuggled during dinner at Barrafina in London last night. Too cute! Rupert was without Keira at Cheri's UK premiere earlier this week, as she was too ill to attend, so the couple made up for lost time during their romantic meal: it even looks like Keria borrowed Rupert's stripy top for the occasion. Keira's spoken about how she strives for a balance between work and relationships, and Rupert has now revealed they use Skype to stay in touch. He does, however, prefer the old-fashioned love letter, saying:

"I love letters. It is probably a far more romantic idea to go away to sea and write letters. But my handwriting is terrible, almost illegible. So I have to go really slowly, and I think faster when I write. So my writing goes away from me and is really not very good."

Keira Doesn't Let Go of Her Role or Relationship

She's been hard at work on this movie, and she recently opened up about how it's difficult to balance her career and relationship with Rupert Friend when she's so busy.
