I'm loving Christina Ricci's makeup look from the recent Spike Scream Awards in LA, and lucky for us, we've got the scoop on the perfectly rosy lip gloss shade she wore as a stain while presenting the Breakout Male Performance award to Twilight's Taylor Lautner. It's from Lancôme's new lollipop-inspired La Collection Lollipop ($35 per kit). Each limited-edition gift set comes with a Color Fever Gloss - Christina wore Ma Cherie Cherry - and a Le Vernis nail polish. Five dollars from each sale goes to the Anne Hathaway-backed Lollipop Theater Network, a nonprofit that organizes film viewings for very ill children and teenagers. Feel Young Again For Less Than Five Bucks

Some people eat madeleines and zoom back to childhood. Me? I paint my nails for that Proustian moment. While at Walgreens last week, I spotted a display of Revlon nail polish. But this wasn't any nail polish. Nope, this was scented nail polish in eight bright colors that remind me of Kool-Aid. (Oh yeah!)

When the polish is applied, there's nothing remotely fruity about the scent - just the unpleasant and familiar smell of varnish. When dry, however, the polish reveals a chemically "fruity" scent almost identical to that of the Mr. Sketch scented markers I played with as a kid. Just one whiff of my freshly manicured nails transported me back to my marker-sniffing days. That was fun for a moment, but my nose is extremely sensitive, so I had a nasty headache within 15 minutes. (I'll use the polish only for pedicures from here on out.) As long as you can handle a little fake-fruit smell, the polish's $4.50 price is an extremely budget-friendly way to feel like a kid again.

A few months ago I told you about a new brand in the UK called Illamasqua that I've totally fallen in love with. The pigments are the richest I've ever encountered, the assortment of jaw-dropping colours rival MAC (no, I'm not kidding) and the textures are so creamy, velvety and luxurious that time stands still when you're at the counter. Can't you just feel my excitement!

I can't speak highly enough about this new discovery and it just keeps getting better. Nails

Muse (£12.50) is an opaque, bright teal nail varnish that you can see on the model in the photo.
Lament (£12.50) is a flirty, opaque neon coral nail polish that looks especially gorgeous on bronzed skin.

Face

Bronzing Duo (£18) is available in two shades: Glint/Burnish is a darker combo, whilst, Glint/Writhe is a little bit lighter for those with fairer skin. The Glint side is a powder highlighter and the other sides is shimmery powder bronzer.
Liquid Metal in Enrapture and Solstice (£16) are metallic cream pots that can be used on the face or body. The colours are seriously intense, so they should be used sparingly and then layered until you get your desired result. Solstice is a rich gold and Enrapture is a hearty bronze.
Fat Pencils in Fickle, Wilful and Peverse (£12.72) are fabulous multi-use products as they can be used on the eyes, lips and body.

Eyes

4-Colour Powder Eye Shadow Palette (£33.28) contains four differing blendable yet bold powder shadows in bronze, teal, blue and gold.

If your tot has ever thrown a fit as you've headed out the door, Gwyneth Paltrow can relate. The Oscar winning mama to two, Apple, 4, and Moses, 2, had a harried experience with her lil man prior to the premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor. The glamorous actress chatted about the incident. A People report said:

“It was hectic getting ready. We just flew in yesterday for this. And my kids are really jetlagged. And my son had a meltdown. But we got out the door,” although not without a struggle. “He was very upset by these hair clips they put in to keep your hair back when you’re getting your makeup done,” she explained. “He hated them. He was livid. But I’m here. I made it.” So did Moses have an opinion about the dress? “He did not like it,” said Paltrow. “He’s very specific. My daughter really liked it. She also chose my nail polish color.”

It seems like Moses, who will be three in a couple of weeks, already has definite opinions on things.

They also talk about how they would never dream of going back to life before parenthood. Here are highlights:

Nicole on Harlow: "She appreciates every single thing. It's awesome. She's very carefree, very independent. In the car, she's in the back talking to herself. Harlow's a delicate soul. She studies people. She's very coy. People say that she and I make the same expressions. But everyone says she looks like Joel."
Joel on whether he misses pre-baby life: "I can't imagine life without her. It was never a moment where it was like, 'This is inconvenient for us.' We're very blessed to have it happen the way it did."
Nicole on how she views herself after motherhood: "I think my sense of self is still the same. But I don't do things, we do things. I work around her. When I was like 2 or 3, my mom and I would get our nails and hair done together. That was so fun. And I want her I to do that when she's older."

The Coolest Beauty Products Ever (No, Really.)

For years, the aesthetic elite has been refrigerating eye creams and gels, and not just to save room in their medicine cabinets: the cold temperature is said to de-puff by contracting the tissue around the eyes, plus it feels better going on. According to Korean company EUPA, which makes a special cosmetics refrigerator, all products should be stored between 10 to 14 degrees (Celsius, presumably, which is 50 degrees Fahrenheit). Some people keep nail polish in the refrigerator, but according to "Cosmetics Cop" Paula Begoun, "Condensation and cold negatively affect nail polish, making it too thick to use reliably."

So while you shouldn't go hungry to make shelf space for your products, certain things, like melty lip glosses, mineral water sprays (genius to bring to the beach), aloe and other redness relieving gels (to soothe sunburns, rosacea, etc.) and certain organic and natural products, like Lush's face masks, are best served - er, slathered - cold. Just make sure your roommate/ significant other/ babysitter/ kids know what's edible and what's not.

Kidding, kidding. But if you still have a few folks left on your list, don't panic-I've got a few last-minute gift ideas that don't cost a fortune. Better yet, you won't need to deal with crowds to pull it all together.

It almost goes without saying, but a spa or salon gift certificate is an easy choice. Local spas and salons can whip up a certificate for you on the spot, and some can even e-mail a certificate. Check out my shopping guide so you avoid any faux pas in giving such a gift.

Forget about hitting the mall, mega-mart or Main Street today. The crowds are likely to be wackier than Phyllis Diller after a three-martini lunch. Instead, head to your local drugstore (and get bonus points if it's a 24-hour joint). Here are three quick, inexpensive and fun grooming gifts that you can pull together within 10 minutes at Walgreens.

Nail it down Create an at-home manicure set. Choose a simple base coat, a couple of shades of nail polish, a nail file, and a hand cream. Roll it all up in a simple white dish towel-they're always inexpensive-and secure it with a festive ribbon. Simple and fun.

Start off on the right foot Can Dr. Scholl's be a fun gift? Actually, yes. The good doctor's well-priced pedicure products for women are surprisingly cute-looking.
