You know how I love all things Moroccan. Most recently, my eye's been lingering over these gorgeous Recycled Metal Globes (on sale for $118). Their circular shapes and cutouts are sure to transform a room. Made from interlacing recycled metallic bands, the latticework will cast gorgeous, geometric shadows when they're lit up. I can see these looking fabulous in a moody bedroom or over a burled wood table. Where would you put them?

Coveted Crib: Lamptastic in London

Any good interior designer will tell you that lighting is everything. But when we regular folk start decorating our homes, it's usually the last thing we think about. Furniture first. And when designers say "lighting is everything," they're not talking about the style of a floor lamp, but the light it gives off. But, if a lamp is unique enough, it can make a room. Take three wild, fringed Victorian lamps, two oversize candelabras, and a set of candlesticks and put them in one room, and you've got it made. That's what the owners of this eclectic Victorian house in London, which is used for photo shoots, did and I can't help but feel a twinge of "I wish I were cooler" just looking at it. A Shaker rocking chair covered in fabric. A patchwork sofa. A moss-covered loveseat in the garden. This house, with its wealth of theatrical, mix-and-don't-match furnishings set on a solid gray and white background, suggests that overdoing it may be the only way to do it. It may be meant for kids, but I think HoweePup is pretty cute . . . even adults need lights! This lamp comes in six colors and a range of species (from cats to piggies), making it the perfect alternapet for any household. My fave feature is that it comes with a washable marker – write right on the animal to draw silly faces, fancy outfits, or even leave notes to yourself. I'd love to have the whimsical glowing doxie on my nightstand, how about you?

Pimp Your Crib: Light Me Up

I find the perfect kiddie decor in the least likely places. Browsing Urban Outfitters the other day, I dreamed of using knickknacks from the funky store to sass up my daughter's room.

Instead of a boring white lamp base with a green and white polka dot shade, I thought a toot-hootin' owl would be much more fun and imaginative. For a room in need of spunky flair, the hot pink Bambi-esque ceramic base or the silver robot may work wonders. Of course the light-up globe is sure to teach geography in a whole new light.
