The Look For Less: Lanvin Strass Necklace

I adore how ribbon necklaces look simultaneously whimsical and elegant; kind of like a fancy DIY. The dramatic nature of this Lanvin Strass Necklace ($469, originally $935) would add decadence to my wardrobe, but even at the sale price, I can't afford it. Seriously - does it really cost that much to make this necklace?

This Forever 21 Jewels & Lace Ribbon Necklace ($7) is just as breathtaking without the crazy price tag. I can already picture the lace and jewel trim against a simple white tee for maximum contrast. Done and done.

Pearls are fabulous, but they tend to give off a highly-sophisticated vibe. For those times when you want a more quirky option, there's Lanvin's Pearl & Folded Satin Necklace ($715). I first crushed on it when I saw a similar version around the delicate neck of Sarah Michelle Gellar. It's chic without being stuffy . . . and way out of my jewelry budget.

What I love about Marciano's Pearl Necklace with Bow ($68), besides the price, is the femininity of the gray pearls and the chiffon ribbon. Fab ladies who are looking for tasteful and fun jewels should take advantage of this one.

Fall Glimpse: Neck Fest

If Spring dabbled in statement necklaces, Fall was a full-on neck fest. Nay a dainty necklace here, a dainty necklace there; yay layers of chunky chains (Givenchy), costumey rhinestones (Balenciaga), jagged Swarovski crystals (Burberry), mixed media (Lanvin), and antique Indian masterpieces (McQueen).

The most innovative was perhaps Dries Van Noten (left), who fashioned his super-colorful, and no doubt super-heavy, neck pieces out of other jewelry items: ethnic bangles. Add a fur collar atop a stellar collection, and this neck fest would make any vampire pounce.

Fab Finding Follow Up: Sad But True, A Funeral

Funerals are never planned, but we all end up attending one sooner or later. I always find choosing the appropriate thing to wear a difficult task - you have to balance subtle with chic, and even err on the conservative side.

Oh say can you see Diane looking amazing?! This girl has style that keeps on giving. Last night, she looked flawless at the Courage in Journalism Awards in Beverly Hills. Her silver strapless J. Mendel dress has the right amount of pouf and her Lanvin clutch just enough wildness. A delicate rhinestone necklace, layered bracelets, and ankle-strap black sandals make Diane even more divine.

There has been a retro feel on the set of Gossip Girl recently. The cast and crew are currently working hard on the third series but my girl PopSugar UK has been providing us with sneak previews of the action happening in the Big Apple. Hilary Duff has joined the show and got in to the '20s revival. I noticed that both Hilary and Taylor Momsen have been spotted in layered necklaces which is sure to spark a comeback. I like to have fun with jewellery, which usually includes bright coloured fun pieces. So imagine my excitement when I spotted these funky creations by Sabrina Dehoff. The German designer trained in London before working with Lanvin and DKNY and now creates unique jewellery from coloured cord for her own label. The multi-coloured necklace (£160) is a statement piece and great with a plain dress on a Summer day. I also like the turquoise bracelet (£80) which is great for daily wear. What do you think of Sabrina's designs?

Charlize Theron in Lamé Lanvin: Love It or Hate It?

To say Charlize Theron brought major shine to the Parisian premiere of her latest movie - The Burning Plain - would be an understatement. If her Lanvin pre-Fall gold lamé dress is this shiny in photographs, I wonder how blinding it is in person! I have to say, it's a hard one to pull off, but nothing stands in Charlize's way. The knot detail adds dimension while her Christian Dior pumps lift her up. The Roger Vivier clutch also matches seamlessly. On the runway, the dress was paired with a chunky necklace, but Charlize let it shine for itself. Are you feeling this or is it too loud?
