In the '90s, one hairstyle reigned supreme: the Rachel. When Jennifer Aniston debuted this layered bob for Friends, it seemed like half the women in America followed suit. It truly is the era's iconic haircut. Now, The New York Times makes the case for Blake Lively's hair being the It style for this decade. "Her hair right now is a big trend," said New York stylist Nuri Yurt, adding that it works only for tall, thin women.

Blake Lively does have beautiful hair, but is it groundbreaking and iconic the way the Rachel was? I'm not convinced. What about you - do you think this is the new iconic cut, or is it just a bunch of buzz?

Product Review: HerCut, Made Just For Your Haircut

In an attempt to offer a new twist in the haircare market, HerCut, a line of products tailored to the form and shape of your actual haircut, launches online today. Earlier, most of you said you'd at least give it a try, but as expected, there were some rumblings about whether or not these products could actually work, as they eschew something rather important when it comes to your hairstyle - its texture.

HerCut offers five styling "Catalysts" ($22 each) that pump out a cream on one side and a gel on the other, to complement the foundation of the haircut (think multichambered toothpaste dispensers). Those haircut foundations are the Bob, the Blunt, the Shag, Long Layers, and the Pixie. The product lineup also includes three different types of paraben- and sulfate-free shampoos ($19 each) and conditioners ($19).

More Tips For Stretching Out a Haircut

Are you in between haircut appointments? Or maybe you're like me, and you're looking to save money by going to your stylist less often. While we're on the topic, be sure to check out some recession-proof hair color tips for low-cost ideas on keeping color looking fresh. Earlier, I shared with you a few tips on stretching out a haircut, and here are some more:

Protect yourself: Sunlight and damage from heat can result in unhealthy, fried-looking hair. Keep your hair on track by using heat protection before plugging in that flat iron or curling iron. Also, consider using a spray-in sunscreen on your locks, like Aveda Sun Care Protective Veil ($20).
Big bang theory: Take up those offers on complimentary bang trims. You'll look instantly more polished. Better yet, give yourself the DIY treatment.
Fake it: Frustrated? Try fake-it style to experiment with different lengths. Bobby pins are always your friend, especially when they have a little something extra special, like these Gem Bobby Pins ($10) from Free People.
Time crunch: If you don't have lots of time for regular trips to the stylist, consider a medium to long style with subtle layers. It should grow out nicely and leave you with lots of room for styling options.

Kristen Stewart was shyly hiding her new haircut under her hood as she left a recording studio in LA yesterday. It looks like her hair's been cut again, there certainly seem to be some more layers in there compared to yesterday's photos, as she morphs into Joan Jett for her new movie The Runaways. Kristen's been learning the guitar for the movie, and it's been announced that she has a new recently cast bandmate - Alessandra Torresani will play Lita Ford, alongside fellow Runaways Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie and Stella Maeve as Sandy West. Exciting!

Would You Buy a Haircare Line That Caters to Your Haircut?

Do you have a shag haircut? A pixie? Perhaps you're rocking a long, layered look. Whatever the case, HerCut, a haircare line that launches in June, will provide products that cater to a woman's particular haircut, as opposed to her type of hair. WWD reports that HerCut will offer a shampoo ($19), conditioner ($19), and a styling product ($22), in each the following hair categories: the Blunt, the Shag, the Bob, Long Layers, and the Pixie.

I've heard of Sally Hershberger's Supreme Head Shagg Spray ($12) before, and I'm all for products that are customizable. But what about haircuts beyond those five? The Chicest Hair Length For Spring Is . . .

Celebrity stylist Charles Baker Strahan has styled the likes of Molly Sims and Leighton Meester. And now, working in conjunction with the Herbal Essences brand, he's sharing hair tips for the warm months ahead. Over the next few days, I'll be bringing you a few of his expert tidbits, but first, let's get to the long and short of it.

According to Strahan, the length that feels the chicest and most current right now is a mid-shoulder-blade cut with long, face-framing layers that start below the chin. "It’s the healthy haircut from the long tresses that may have been taxed from over styling and growing out," he said. "This length, look, and shape is fabulous for the modern girl because waves and curls still drop below the shoulder as opposed to 'lamp shading' at the shoulder."

But if you're worried about sacrificing length, don't. According to Strahan, the blunt base of this hairstyle carries with it a line that still looks long, but polished.
