Sigh, how I envy the lifestyles of the rich and fabulous. While normal folks worked their 9 to 5, fashion folks attended Proenza Schouler's Ball collection luncheon in Beverly Hills. Like their beautiful designs, the Proenza boys give only the best to their VIP guests.

Women who lust over Proenza Schouler's clothes (present!) can now expand their closet with a full-blown Proenza Schouler footwear collection. Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have inked a deal with shoe guru Giuseppe Zanotti and will produce an expansive women's shoe collection. The first batch will hit stores in time for resort, and the entire collection will launch in September for Spring 2009.

When Valentino recently bought a stake in Proenza Schouler, it allowed Jack and Lazaro to keep doing what they're doing, except with more pocket change to throw around. I was excited to see what they would do with the extra money: nicer fabrics? Killer shoes?

When CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg asked creative director Trey Laird to "Capture fashion — do something fabulous," for its 2009 CFDA nominees photo shoot, Laird took it to a whole new level. Instead of using models, he decided to feature the designers wearing their own work — hence Jason Wu in his green gown. The photos, shot by Craig McDean at Milk Studios, feature all of the nominees sporting their creations in fun ways; for instance, Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez donned their handbags as boxing gloves, and Marc Jacobs sported bunny ears.

Ellen Barkin hosted last night's Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards in NYC. The event, which Council President Diane von Furstenberg made sure started on time, was attended by celebrities such as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Kate Bosworth, Heidi Klum, and Debra Messing, among others, as well as by top designers and fashion insiders.
Oscar de la Renta and Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler tied for Womenswear Designer of The Year while Ralph Lauren took home the prize for Menswear Designer of the Year.

Last night in New York City, the who's who of the fashion community gathered for the announcement of the 2008 CFDA Fashion Awards nominations.
Akin to the fashion Oscars, the actual 2008 CFDA Fashion Awards ceremony will take place at the New York Public Library on June 2, and the nominated designers for the top awards will be judged on both their Spring and Fall 2008 collections.
Without further ado, this year's nominees .

Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, the wonder boys behind Proenza Schouler, are the second nominee for FabSugar Designer of the Year. You all seemed to fancy them when I wrote a Spring '07 runway review and soon we'll all be able to experience this duos designs on the cheap via Target in the Spring (yay!). Though I admittingly still have a hard time pronouncing their design name, a combo of their mother’s maiden names, these boys have earned themselves quite the reputation since their arrival on the scene in 2002.
