Pink Patent Leather Laptop Sleeve: Love It or Leave It?

Pink patent leather? Where do I sign up? The Virginia Computer Sleeve ($98) from fabulous handbag designer Rebecca Minkoff has me wanting to give the bubblegum treatment to my computer.

Oh, there's a conservative part of me that wants to decry this as saccharine and cheesy as some of Juicy Couture's laptop bags, but the fun, carefree part of me (not coincidentally, the same part of me that is sick of all the gray outside and dying for Spring color) says give me that pretty pink patent thing.

It may only be a laptop sleeve that Barbie could love, but then again, I did always kind of admire her style, and it looks like I'm not the only one!

Hot, hot, hot. . . That's the only thought going through my head when I look at this leather MacBook Air Sleeve by Civilian Lab. Soft black supple leather in the style of the now-infamous Manila folder hugs your sexy machine to make it tough and yes, even sexier. Civilian lab took the concept of something that was cute and kitschy - the Air Mail's manila folder sleeve - and vamped it up by just changing the material and the color. Yes, MacBook Air - you do look good in leather.

The moment I saw this gorgeous laptop sleeve on Coolhunting, I fell in love. Made by Byrd & Belle out of soft but sturdy felted merino wool and eco-friendly hand-dyed leather, the sleeve fits both 13- and 15-inch laptops. At $72, it's pricier than many laptop sleeves, but its clean lines, chic design, and cozy texture make it one of my Fall must haves.

Ostrich, Huh? Get a Load of the $1,000 Ostrich Laptop Sleeve

Holy smokes, folks: a laptop bag for $998 before tax (and I thought that $800 Burberry bag was excessive). I don't know if I have ever even seen $998 before tax. But whoever has, I suppose, is in the unique position of being able to purchase one of these delightfully colored ostrich-skin Bodhi Ostrich Laptop Sleeves from Nordstrom (to reiterate, they each cost $998).

Curiously, these sleeves bear a striking resemblance to the $150 Rebbecca Minkoff Virginia Laptop Bag - and I don't know about you, but I'd go Minkoff any day of the week.

This Abby Patent laptop sleeve by Lauren Merkin (a cool emerging designer) reminds me a lot of the oversized clutch trend - the foldover closure makes it look like it's holding your going-out essentials instead of your laptop.

Usually I buy sleeves to put inside a bag, but this one could be comfortable carried on its own. But I worry that the scalloped edge and black patent would get old fast.

It's also available in a metallic version and is $150, down from $225. So what's the verdict?

If I'm in the market for a new bag, I tend to want to pair it with a new laptop sleeve. This is because realistically, it's only a matter of time before my bag (no matter if it's a laptop bag or not) becomes a transportation device for my trusty computer. So when I saw (and salivated over) the Vertical Tote ($155) on Flight 001, I immediately went on the hunt for a laptop sleeve that would match the adorable flower print on the inside lining. Lo and behold, the sexy Trexta sleeves I was raving about at Macworld were just what I was looking for.

The Trexta MacBook Air Sleeve ($100) in Coffee is the exact hue of brown that could pair with the tote like a good cube of cheese to a vintage wine. Yummy. The 14.5 inch opening in the bag makes for a perfectly snug home for your Macbook Air, while the Trexta case keeps your lappy from getting scratched and abused from whatever you decide to toss in the tote.

Plus, the rich blue tone of the bag (and lush leather materials on both the bag and the sleeve) should take you nicely into your Fall wardrobe, getting more mileage for your buck, and making these items a worthy investment.

Rebecca Minkoff Does It Again With the Virginia Laptop Sleeve

I'm basically having a huge love affair with Rebecca Minkoff right now - not only are her handbags soft and luxe, but she also remembers the tech that we fab ladies have to lug around.

She wowed me with her outrageous-yet-amazing hot pink Patent Leather Laptop Sleeve, and she's keeping up her wowing with the Virginia Laptop Sleeve.

It's a bit more subdued, but it's no less fabulous - the exterior is ostrich-embossed leather in soft pinky-gray, and the interior is faced in her signature striped lining and padded enough for your laptop.

The bag is $150 - pretty high for a laptop bag, but actually quite reasonable for the good Minkoff name.

Look, Rebecca Minkoff, do you have a crush on me or something? It's just that you keep designing laptop bags and sleeves that I routinely become obsessed with, and it's like you heard my cries for more chic laptop bags for those of us gals who are constantly toting our computers around. What's the deal?

So I actually spotted this bag while I was shopping this weekend at a shoe store - I saw it on the shelf and, eyes wide as saucers, pulled it down, mouth agape like some creepy weirdo. The salesgirl understood. It's the Ibiza MAB Laptop Bag (part of the Morning After Bag collection.

The all-leather exterior in lapis is dreamy - literally, this bag would only be mine in my dreams. It's $455 on sale, so you know what means: look, don't touch!

A Laptop Bag From Juicy That's Juuuuust Right

It's true, I have complained in the past about the gadget accessory offerings from Juicy Couture. They're just so over the top usually, and no laptop needs to be dressed in a pink sweatsuit like an LA soccer mom.

But finally, it seems they've dropped a new bag that is not only not over-the-top (under the top?), it couldn't be more Spring-appropriate. The Green Paisley Laptop Sleeve ($128) is blessed with a sweet but not saccharine print, nice leather edging, and understated beige straps.

Hard Graft Debuts New Felty, Sexy HIGH Collection

The last bag I saw by Hard Graft made me want to sell all my furniture to be able to afford it.

Now they're back with a new fleece line called the HIGH Collection, and it has me feeling what its name suggests.

The gorgeous set is comprised of cases for laptops, cameras, iPhones, iPods, even a Kindle case (and I know my way around chic Kindle cases).

The felt and leather accents run from about $60 for the cheapest case (for the iPod/iPhone) to $120 for the laptop sleeve.
