Sep 16 2009 - 9:39am When was the last time you were transfixed by a preview completely without dialogue? The trailer for the 1960s-set A Single Man instead relies on its visual strength, which it has in spades — not a complete surprise considering this is designer Tom Ford's directorial debut (and
word is they have Mad Men's production design group).
Based on the Christopher Isherwood novel of the same name, A Single Man focuses on the unraveling of a man (Firth) after his partner dies.

Seems like a good film; I'll have to check it out.
1Wow, the trailer has really beautiful images, but I found the musical score to be too art-house for mass appeal. I do love Colin Firth however.
2I'll watch anything with my Mr. Darcy in it.
3Was that Lee Pace I saw?
Seems interesting. I think I'd like to see it.
4I'd watch anything with Colin Firth (who won Best actor at the Venice Film Festival for this role) so I was sold a long time ago.
5But, after seeing this trailer and the man of my dreams (aka LEE PACE) in it, I must admit that I am foaming at the mouth to see this! It looks absolutely stunning.
Plenty of melancholy beauty and angst so I shall definitely go see it. And glad to see Lee Pace in something new .
6this looks beautiful and is actually one of the best trailers I've seen in a while. I love the ominous, sensual song playing - it's very Hitcockian (which I'm hoping the movie will be; the tone reminds me of Rebecca). could you ask for a better cast to guide you through the invigorating Tom Ford's try at directing? plus the adorable and talented Matthew Goode for eye candy? cue me in theatre on opening day with popcorn...
