Model of the Week: Lisa Seiffert

This post marks a milestone for our Model of the Week feature! Lisa Seiffert is lucky model number ten. This feature has been one of my favorites because I find these ladies so interesting. They have all been very smart, articulate, friendly, and of course knock down gorgeous. To read the other nine Model of the Week interviews click here.

Here's some background on Lisa Seiffert. She was born in a small town by the Great Barrier Reef, in Australia. She loves animals and wildlife and when she's not modeling, she can often be found donating time to the World Wild Life Foundation. She began modeling at a young age and by 16 she had already graced a dozen magazine covers.

You may recognize her from Australian and American Vogue Elle, American and British Harper's Bazaar, hundreds of catwalks she has walked and a multitude of ad campaigns. She also appeared in the Robbie Williams video "Road to Mandalay and Eternity."

Lisa's future is as bright as a shining star and she shows no signs of slowing down! She is currently living in New York and loves spending time with her family and friends whenever she has the chance to see them.

BELLA: What is your secret to beautiful skin and hair?
LS: Drink a lot of water and aloe juice. Exfoliate with dead sea salt and use a hair mask/treatment weekly.

BELLA: What is the one product that you can't live without?
LS: There is a coconut oil I get from health food stores, that is %100 natural and makes my skin yummy and moisturized.

BELLA: What is your guilty pleasure?
LS: Staying in bed with my cats all day and talking to my friends and drinking rose while watching antiques roadshow.

BELLA: What is your favorite drugstore product?
LS: Johnson and Johnson Baby Balm, $4.39. You can put it basically anywhere and it's gentle and smells good.

BELLA: Happiness is...
LS: Eating caviar and fruit on a secluded private beach! Just playing in the sun and surfing.

Bella Brand: Lisa Hoffman Skincare

You may be familiar with the name Lisa Hoffman as the wife of actor Dustin Hoffman, but what you may not know is that she's also a lawyer, mother, grandmother and creator/owner of Lisa Hoffman Skincare. The concept for her company was inspired by all of the years she spent travelling with her husband and family.

Lisa has always had an affinity towards skin care. She used to add essential oils and softeners such as jojoba to existing products so often that she acquired the nickname "Little Estee" from her friends. Her own collection is packaged in individual pouches that are numbered for convenience so they can be applied in the correct order for optimum results.

There are two collections (night and day) consisting of five products each: cleanser, serum or toner, moisturizer, eye cream and lip cream. They come in full-size bottles for home use as well as small ampoules for travel. All of the formulas work together to help improve the overall look and condition of normal to dry skin. I love the concept-it's so easy to follow each step. Plus, the products smell amazing! Is this line something you'd be interested in trying?

Two Lisas Are Living It Up at TV Summer Schedule Launch

Living TV launched its summer schedule at the Dorchester in London yesterday and prints were certainly the look du jour, with Toyah Wilcox blending into the backdrop and Yvette Fielding suitably dressed in skulls. Both are involved with Living TV's paranormal shows, while the Cheeky Girls have their own reality show with the channel, which will no doubt be gruesomely fascinating. Lisa Scott-Lee, who also championed prints in her maxi dress, will be starring in Extreme: Skinny Celebrity Mums 2 and an absent Kelly Brook (who was busy with Billy) will be a judge on Dirty Dancing: The Time of Your Life. Thank goodness for Lisa Snowdon, who represented Britain's Next Top Model, and Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Hardy and Matthew Cutler (love SCD) who will be appearing on the channel. Siting.

Lisa and Natalie Promote Love and Other Impossible Pursuits

Lisa Kudrow and Natalie Portman brought their colourful outfits to Canada for the premiere of Love And Other Impossible Pursuits at the Toronto Film Festival yesterday. They were joined by costar Scott Cohen for the premiere and press conference for the film, of which Natalie is also an executive producer. It's great to see Lisa making movies again, as she has said TV offers women better roles than film. The fruits of her TV role as Phoebe in Friends are still making headlines, with "Smelly Cat" being reworked as a dance anthem, about which Lisa said: "That's fascinating - I can't wait to hear if it is any good. Because it is a good tune."

Lisa Hoffman Variations Fragrance Collection

Lisa Hoffman has recently released her new line of fragrances called Variations, and these aren't your average "spray once in the morning" kind of scents. Each of the three types (Clary Sage, Tunisian Neroli and Tuscan Fig) come with four roll-on oil vials that vary in strength to be used at different times throughout the day. The concept stems from the idea that not all fragrances are suitable for both daytime and evening. Having four different versions of the same scent gives you the opportunity to smell equally lovely before bed and in the afternoon.

The Morning variant is light subtle, the Daytime variant is rich, the Evening variant is deep and sensual, and the Bedtime variant is powdery and gentle. The fragrances come packaged in a leather pouch and sell as a set for $150.

Tuscan Fig (orange) is made from a blend of fig, amber, woods, jasmine, honeysuckle, osmanthis, vanilla, gardenia, Tahitian tiare flower, Tuscan fig and sensual musks.
Tunisian Neroli (red) combines ylang ylang, golden amber, lemon, buchu leaf, and Tunisian neroli.
French Clary Sage (green) is light, fresh, clean scent created from linen accords, Sicilian bergamot and French clary sage.

Lisa Has Been Evicted From the Big Brother House!

Lisa Wallace has become the thirteenth housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother house with 68.59% of the public vote, a huge percentage considering all six of the remaining housemates were up for the vote. The vast majority of you guys predicted Lisa would go.

In her interview with Davina McCall, Lisa came across as feeling uncomfortable, asking for water and needing Davina to repeat questions, but it's no wonder she was phased as the crowd didn't hold back on the boos as she walked to the studio. So now there are five housemates left for Friday's final, who do you want to win?

Lisa Katayama of Tokyomango: Geeky Girl We Love

If you're into gadgets you've probably realized some of the coolest, strangest and geekiest gadgets and gizmos come from Japan. If you're a real webmeister, you've probably noticed the hottest Japanese items are often premiered to the US (and the rest of the world) via Tokyomango, a site started by Lisa Katayama nearly a year ago.

Lisa, who grew up in Tokyo and now lives in San Francisco, has been sharing her insight into Japanese culture and gadgets (as well as her general knowledge of techie things) with Wired Magazine for two years and is also the associate editor at PLANETº Magazine. She has a book coming out in Spring 08 about secret Japanese tips and tricks and has quickly gained a reputation for her witty, hilarious and insightful pieces. Think golden poop. Think cell phone straps. Think beer for dogs. Think anything you ever wanted to know about Japan's "Beauty Adviser" Nintendo DS games. Think where does Lisa find all this goofy stuff?

When she's not writing, she's game for any team sport or activity (like speeding down hills on skis or a bike), crafting, eating, watching chick flicks, playing video games and traveling all over the world. Geeksugar: You seem to have an endless supply of amazing gizmos and off beat news, without revealing your secrets and sources, please tell us about your experience and how you came to love Japanese culture and gadgets so much.
Lisa: I was born and raised in Tokyo, so Japanese culture and gadgets are just a part of my existence. It was only when I started working at Wired that I realized that people considered things like Tokyo street trends and novelty gadgets to be newsworthy. I started Tokyomango as a dumping ground for stories that wouldn't get published in the magazine, and also for a place to debunk common myths and sensationalized conceptions of Japanese pop culture and lifestyle. A lot of people write about Japan, but most of them aren't Japanese.

Geeksugar: Do you use a PC or Mac?
Lisa: I use my 15" MacBookPro at home.

Geeksugar: How many hours are you online everyday?
Lisa: 8-10. On weekends, I try to stay completely offline.

Geeksugar: Your first computer was a ...
Lisa: Sony Vaio.

Geeksugar: How many gadgets do you carry in your purse? What are they?
Lisa: My cell phone (Nokia 5300) and if I remember to bring it, my iPod video. I don't like carrying too many things around, it gets confusing.

Geeksugar: What’s your favorite item or news story you’ve ever written about?
Lisa: A couple months ago, I walked around my neighborhood investigating the life and death of a homeless man I was good friends with. That was really meaningful and fascinating in a much more human kind of way than the tech/culture stories I usually do.

Lisa:

That dude with the iPhone-Have you seen how those fingers roll smoothly across the touchscreen? Hot!

Geeksugar: How do you feel about being called a "geek” or “techie”?
Lisa: Am I a geek? I think you're the first person to call me that. But I'll take it as a compliment.

Geeksugar: What are a couple tech/gadget trends you adore?
Lisa: love that video game music has taken on a following of its own. Have you seen the Mario Piano Guy or the dude who plays the Zelda track on two guitars? Pretty cool. Other than that, I'm not so into tech trends. I follow them, sure-but only in an objective, journalistic way. My day-to-day life is pretty analog.

Geeksugar: What is one item you’ve featured that you had to purchase?
Lisa: The golden poop cell phone strap. I actually bought these in bulk and had a contest where I gave a bunch of them out to people who best answered the question: Why do Japanese people love poop so much? We really, really love poop. I just Googled my blog for the word "poop" got 156 hits. That means I've written about poop every other day since I started Tokyomango.

Geeksugar: What’s the most useless thing you’ve featured?
Lisa: I don't know where to start! When looked at a certain way, everything on my blog is utterly useless; but take into consideration the odd, quirky ways in which the esoteric few will find these products pleasurable or convenient, and anything has the potential to be surprisingly useful. Take the portable heated wooden toilet bowl, for example. Why would anybody want to carry around such an expensive, awkward toilet contraption? But maybe some people would really appreciate the butt shower. Aside from that, this CD crusher is probably the stupidest thing ever.

Few Fab Words with Lisa Tsang

When you think of knitwear you probably think of crew or v-neck plain jumpers or else a horrible Christmas gift a la Bridget Jones. Well, Lisa Tsang (known as Lisa T) is on a one woman mission to change all of that. "That's exactly the problem," she tells me, "I want to change people's perception of knitwear." In the sweetest tone Lisa explains that there are no set rules with her approach to knitwear, "rules are there to be broke... In the nicest possible way!" And her approach is just that, nice. She excitedly tells me about her baby range which leaves me coo-ing as she explains there is a cashmere blanket folded using origami in to the shape of a bunny.

Lisa hails from Hong Kong but trained in London at Central Saint Martins. She continues to split her time almost exactly between the two countries which means she's racked up a fair few airmiles. Knowing this, it isn't surprising that she's trying to get airlines to upgrade their scratchy blankets to her 100% cashmere alternative.

"I would like to provide for all classes, I travel economy! But it's expensive for the airline. So for now I'm in talks to provide blankets and sleep masks." She had previously also designed a cushion, slippers and wraps but it's a work in progress.

Wanting to offer alternatives for all class of customer is central to Lisa's creative aim. She tells me that she wants to offer "affordable luxury knitwear which is creative yet commercial." She is heavily influenced by the golden age of couture by designers such as Balenciaga and Lanvin and applies their influence to her work. She wants the high quality and finish of couture and this is reflected in her attention to detail.

In the future Lisa is looking in to organic knits as she realises the growing importance of eco fashion. She is also introducing eveningwear to her line which is very intriguing. She is definitely not afraid to interact with customers to find out what they're looking for and has even spent time on the Harrods shop floor. If that kind of hard work and enthusiasm doesn't pay off then her then her innovative designs definitely speak for themselves. See below for images of Lisa's Spring collection.

Colette Commissions Lisa Fontanarosa Collection Wire Art

You may not know your Left Bank from your Right Bank, or have ever stepped foot on French soil, but you've probably heard of Colette, the fashion and design temple of Paris. The preeminent concept boutique hails art-loving hipsters from near and far, and regularly organizes exhibitions with both up-and-coming and established artists - including my beloved interiors photographer Todd Selby. Colette's latest exposition is MeWeCycle, a project curated by Karta Healy featuring a collection of designers’ work, based on their love of the bicycle and creative recycling. Some of the most innovative designers around have created furnishings, lighting, clothing, accessories, and design objects for the shop all from recycled materials.

Always on the hunt for international talent, Colette called upon Lisa Fontanarosa to tap her stable of European and American designers to create bespoke pieces for the show. Lisa asked Marie Christophe, known for her exquisite, whimsical, wirework light fixtures and sculptures, to create a life-size bicycle in wire with a transparent crystal seat and a crystal bell. The bicycle, shown above, hangs in the window of Colette. Another wire artist from Fontanarosa's collection, Barbara Gilhooly, made industrial hearts from vintage erector sets exclusively for Colette. Both are magnificent proof that "recycled" and "refined" can be one and the same.
