How-To: Liv Tyler's MTV Movie Awards Hairstyle

Liv Tyler looked gorgeous last night on the red carpet. Her skin was pale, yet slightly dewy and radiant. Her makeup was minimal, and her hair looked relaxed in loose, effortless sexy, beachy waves.

I love a girl who can look comfortable at a big-time Hollywood event, don't you? If any of you are interested in re-creating this hairstyle at home, all you'll need is a product that provides slight hold, a hair dryer, a curling iron, and a wide-toothed comb.

STEP 1: After you wash and condition your hair, gently towel dry and get rid of snarls and tangles by using a wide-toothed comb. Either get dressed or apply your makeup so that you hair has time to air-dry a little bit.
STEP 2: Apply a texturizing styling product such as Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray to your damp hair from roots to ends. Tip: Keep in mind that if your hair is slightly curly or thick, you'll want to apply product while your hair is still very wet, fresh from the shower. Also, if your hair is oily, only apply product to the lengths and ends, avoiding your roots.
STEP 3: Once you've applied the product, it's time to dry your hair. Set your hairdryer to the coolest, lowest setting and tousle hair until it's dry.
STEP 4: Since this is a sleeker version of the typical wavy, (slightly frizzy) beach hair, you'll want to add shine and refine the waves. Take a curling iron and use it like a flat-iron on the roots of your hair to make it smoother. As you get a third of the way down, curl hair around the barrel and let it sit for about 10 seconds. When you are finished with your entire head, shake out the curls, finger a few back into place and mist your entire head with a light-hold hairspray.

I’ve heard of rinsing your hair with cool water after you condition, but I much prefer this alternative. Nobody likes cold showers, even if it’s just for a few seconds. Who would have thought a solution could be this simple!

The Costume Gala Delivers the Glitz and Glamour!

The Met's Costume Institute Gala did not disappoint last night in NYC, bringing us one of the most star-studded red carpets of the year. The theme was "Model as Muse," which apparently brought out some interesting fashion choices. Kate Moss and Marc Jacobs were two of the hosts and had all eyes on them when they arrived first and her outfit included a turban. Justin Timberlake was also the man of the evening with Jessica Biel on his arm.

Rihanna switched it up for her first red carpet appearance in months and still looked sexy in her dramatic menswear. Josh Jackson and Diane Kruger can do no wrong in our eyes so it was not a surprise that they're perfectly put together. Something must have gotten into the Gossip Girl ladies because they both went with bold choices - Blake slicked down her hair and showed off a long sexy slit while Leighton might have landed herself on a few worst dressed lists.

In case you missed it, Gisele Bundchen accessorized her hot dress with her new big diamond ring and hot husband. Plus I have to give a shout out to the Olsens who looked totally different but both great. Love Ashley's sexy open back dress. Celebs Get Creative At The Costume Institute Met Gala

Last night was a very starry night in New York, as celebs got all dressed up for the Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. There were outfits ranging from the classic to the costume-like, with the stars showing how daring they were with their clothing choices! Leighton Meester took a huge step away from the classic look of her character Blair Waldorf in her patterned outfit, Agyness Deyn rocked a silver dress with big hair, Kate Moss was dressed by Marc Jacobs in gold, Victoria Beckham showed off her pins, and Kate Bosworth went a little gothic in her number.

Madonna played up to her daring reputation in a surprising outfit, Emma Roberts went for a hip-extending sparkly red silhouette, while dashing men Joshua Jackson, Josh Hartnett and Ed Westwick all looked very handsome as they walked the red carpet.

It was ladies' night at the Rockefeller Center Loft and Garden with cocktail dresses and hot shoes galore. Piaget hosted the Limelight Paris-New York jewelry collection for the beautiful familiar faces including Maggie Gyllenhaal, Liv Tyler, Emmy Rossum and an extra light haired looking Leighton Meester. At the party Leighton talked about feeling comfortable but a little bit sexy as well as revealing some about her new royal Gossip Girl love interest. With the jewels on display and all these pretty ladies to admire them, looks like a shining night in the muggy Manhattan Summer.

Love It or Hate It? Liv Tyler's Blue Eyeshadow

Liv Tyler went for a classically grown-up look at the Incredible Hulk premiere in California, in a stunning one-shoulder blue satin dress and chandelier earrings. Makeup-wise, she matched her eyeshadow to her dress - something I am always slightly dubious about.

Although the look was undoubtedly elegant, I thought the chalky foundation, blue eye-shadow and severe Victoria Beckham hair were somewhat ageing, on the normally picture-perfect Liv. I love the lip colour though! But what did you think of this classic red-carpet look?

Liv Tyler is absolutely radiating in her pretty-in-pink frock. To go with her dress, Liv chose a complementary soft pink lip shine and a similar shade for the shadow under her perfectly plucked brows. Even more perfect is the shoulder length, wavy hair. Her look is very pretty, not scary at all like her new movie. What do you think?

Celebrity Colorist Marie Robinson Reveals Pre-Fall Hair Trends

Marie Robinson's client list looks like, well, the A-list (Naomi Watts, Liv Tyler, and Taylor Momsen recently sat in her chair). Robinson, who works out of Sally Hershberger Salon in New York City, is also one of the most sought-after colorists for beauty campaigns and color changes for films (from what she's told me, directors can get verrrrrry specific). I consulted her about what her well-heeled clients are doing to transition their hair from Summer to Fall.

Are women coming in to take out their summer highlights?
These last few weeks, it seems like women are touching up their blonde one last time before it gets colder. But I'm also seeing a lot of people going to strawberry blonde. It's a way of slowly going to red or brown for Winter so you don't freak out when they miss being blonde.

Is it just a flat strawberry blonde, or are you putting in highlights or lowlights?
I've actually been doing this thing where I make the roots a reddish brown that fades into blonde. It kind of goes from a copper to a gold to a strawberry with the tips really blonde, kind of ombre. I think people are liking having definition but they don't want stripes or chunks of color. It's a new twist.

What is the trend in hair color for Fall?
Brown, but a cool, mink-y brown. A lot of people bring in that Estee Lauder ad with Hilary Rhoda.

What other celebrities do people want to copy, hair color wise?
[Model] Lily Donaldson, for blondes. Jennifer Aniston. A lot of times people bring in pictures saying they want a drastic change, but they don't really want to change the color as much as they say. They never take it as extreme as the pictures they bring in!

Liv Tyler is sporting ultra shiny (or is that greasy?) hair as she arrives back at LA airport, after her trip to Japan.

Her hair is looking lighter than usual, and she has sleek, subtle waves. Very Veronica Lake-esque, or just-slept-on-the-plane, depending how you see it.
