This year, we mourned the deaths of the beloved Farrah Fawcett, photographer Irving Penn, Gap's co-founder Donald Fisher, and the king of pop, Michael Jackson. Each made a huge impact in the world and we will always remember them for their stellar style and contribution to the industry. Also recognized were shuttered fashion houses Christian Lacroix and Luella Bartley — what a shame.

There have been many victims in the fashion world, but this year the two which have stood out for me are Christian Lacroix and Luella. Lacroix has been battling with his couture house for some time, but with so much love for the French designer it seemed likely that a backer would emerge.
Biggest Headline of 2009: London Fashion Week's 25th Anniversary
One of the biggest stories in British fashion in 2009 was London celebrating 25 years as a fashion capital. The week has faced a lot of pressure in recent years as it lost some its biggest names and New York threatened to overlap with it. Fortunately, some of the biggest names in the industry, like Erin O'Connor and Naomi Campbell, came together with Sarah Brown and Boris Johnson to help rescue it.

The British Fashion Awards take place next week and most of the nominees have already been announced. Before they announce designer of the year, I want to know whose been your favourite over the past twelve months. Fab Flash: A Luella Update
Yesterday, I shared the sad news that Luella had lost it's license and financial backer. The British fashion house is loved by celebrities and mere mortals alike with Bartley scooping Designer of the Year in 2008. Luella is now seeking a new financial backer and looking to the future.
Breaking News: Luella is No More
I unfortunately have to break some very sad news to you as one of London's best loved fashion labels, Luella, is no more. The announcement came today as WWD revealed that the long term investor Club 21 have walked away from the design house.
According to a statement, VSQ Limited who operated the Luella business have reluctantly “taken the decision not to invest further in its relationship with Luella Bartley Limited.” Bartley commented, "This is a very disappointing situation for everyone involved with the brand…I very much appreciate the support that VSQ has given me, but it is upsetting not to be able to protect jobs in this difficult economic climate.
Which Hollywood Awards Gala Attendee Is Most Fab?
The Hollywood Awards Gala, the first event of award season, summoned a star-studded cast in LA last night. Charlize Theron, Zooey Deschanel, Diane Kruger, Julianne Moore, and Kate Beckinsale all livened up the red carpet with their chic ensembles. Charlize and Kate opted for slimming black, Diane looked angelic in white, and Zooey and Julianne coated themselves in color.
London Fashion Week, Spring 2010: Luella
Luella is definitely a personal highlight of London Fashion Week. Last season was a slight disappointment, but it looks like all is back on track for Spring. The collection included tea dresses with cute Minnie Mouse style polka dots, cut out heart detailing and voluminous skirts.
