Rumor has it Scarlett Johansson is topping a list of actresses to potentially play Marilyn Monroe in the film My Week With Marilyn, directed by Simon Curtis. The movie will be "based on the diary of Colin Clark, an employee of Laurence Olivier, who looked after the blonde bombshell when she came to London to film Olivier's The Prince and the Showgirl in 1957." Here's more:
In the diary, Clark talks about showing Marilyn around Queen Elizabeth's private apartments at Windsor Castle and other "behind-the-scenes" trips.

I have always been an Avedon fan, but after viewing his new exhibit at the SFMOMA "Richard Avedon: Photographs: 1946-2004," I look at the iconic photographer in a new light. A raw, intense, emotional spotlight.
New York-born Avedon was an integral part of fashion in the '60s — you probably recognize Twiggy's hair and Dovima with elephants.

Did you know it was Marilyn Monroe's birthday on June 1? Were the bombshell still with us, she would have been 83 years old! In honor of the fabulous icon, I asked you to create sassy outfits she would have worn.

Marilyn Monroe, who infamously sang "Happy birthday, Mr. President" at the age of 35, would be celebrating her 83rd birthday today. In honor of her birthday, LIFE.com released 15 never-before-published photos of Marilyn when she was only 24 years old and far from famous. Her star quality shined through at a young age, but when the photographer sent the photos to LIFE in 1950, the magazine wired back: "Who the hell is Marilyn Monroe?"

My bookshelves are literally bulging with fashion literature. From street style guides, to history books I am constantly improving my knowledge of the industry. Just when I thought I had my fix of books exploring la mode, Fashionista: A Century of Style Icons by Simone Werle (£16.99) lands in my hands.

One thing that upsets me about Google Images is the fact that it's sometimes difficult to find older photos — hey, the Internet is only 39 years old. Google is trying to change this by hosting millions of photos from the LIFE photo archive from the 1950s and onward. Search various categories like people, places, events, sports, and culture or add "source:life" to any Google image search to only search the LIFE photo archive.

Usually I'm in awe of vintage typewriters because they're beautiful and hearken to a romantic bygone era of written letters and carefully taking time to express what you're thinking. Now, however, I'm in hushed awe because of who the typewriter belonged to: This was Marilyn Monroe's.
Part of the collection of photos shot by Mark Anderson after her death, the typewriter is just one of the things she left behind that you can squint at, appraise, and see the essence of the woman they once belonged to.
