At the Avon Hope Honors Gala, all the celebrity Avon ladies (and the Avon man) were out, including Courteney Cox, Reese Witherspoon, Fergie, and Patrick Dempsey. Of course, no Avon lineup would be complete without Lauren Conrad, the spokeswoman for Mark. To complement her gray cocktail dress, Lauren opted for a 1940s glam makeup look, complete with glowing cheeks, winged-out liner, and warm red lips. I ordered this in Kitten Glo and After Glo (a much-loved duplicate for NARS Orgasm). The color payoff is pretty crazy, so you have to keep a light hand with these, but they're definitely worth it. After Glo is my favorite! It's the perfect peachy color and adds a nice, natural color to my cheeks.

How-To: Ashley Greene's MTV Movie Awards Makeup

If you're a fan of vintage styles, you're going to love this how-to. On Sunday, makeup artist Jamie Greenberg helped to transform Twilight's Ashley Greene into a 1940s siren at the MTV Movie Awards. The majority of you were loving it, and now I've got tips straight from Greenberg on copying the glamorous look on your own, all using products from Mark. For the scoop, read more.

Eyes: Apply Custom Pick Eye Color in Whisper ($4.50) as a highlighter under the brow, and Custom Pick Eye Color in Latte ($4.50) on the lid, up towards the crease. Next, use On the Edge Hook Up Liquid Liner in Cleo ($5.50) for a cat-eye effect. "Just dash along the lash line, then go over it again. You can always go even thicker for more drama," Greenberg said. Next, curl lashes and apply two coats of Scanda-Lash Hook Up Mascara in Blacklash ($5.50). "You can even take some Eyemarker Color On Line in Java ($5.50) and blend into the lower lash line for definition," she added.
Face: Start by applying moisturizer. ("Fresh skin makes any makeup application look better," Greenberg says.) Face Xpert Flawless Touch Foundation in Ivory ($8) gave Ashley a porcelain-skinned look. To complement the red lips, Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Berry ($6) was then applied. "You also want to highlight right above the cheekbone with some Get Bright Hook-Up Highlighter ($6)," recommended Greenberg.
Lips: A sweep of KissInk Lip Tintmarker in Red Siren ($7) was used to give Ashley an old Hollywood matte-lip. But, if you prefer a glossier finish, Greenberg suggests Lip Exotics Lip Lacquer Hook Up in Fever ($6).

Mark's Latest Destination? Costa Rica

Avon's hip brand, Mark, has been known to take us to exotic locales through its "Instant Vacation" fragrance collections. And now, it's time to go south, to Central America. How-To: Miley Cyrus's Makeup at the Golden Globe Awards

When you're sixteen years old, the most flattering makeup is fresh and light, much like Miley Cyrus's look at the Golden Globes. Makeup artist Mai Quynh, working with Mark cosmetics, created this easy look for the teenage superstar. I like it on the red carpet, but it would be just as appropriate with jeans and a tee. Here's how to steal Miley's makeup look:

Face: For everyday wear, stick with a tinted moisturizer that lets your skin show through. Use a sheer cheek stain (Miley wore Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Nude) on the apples of cheeks. Let your cheeks capture the light by applying luminizer or a sheer gold powder blush such as Golden Glo.
Eyes: Create the appearance of larger eyes by sweeping shimmery eye shadow on the inner V of your eyelids. (Quynh used Shimmer Cubes in Moonlight and Shimmer Bars in Twilight on Miley.) Then, use a shimmery bronze eye shadow in the creases of the eyelid; use the same color to line the bottom lash line. Follow with black mascara.
Lips: Quynh played up Miley's lips in two steps. First, she applied Gleamstick in Platonic, a neutral pinky brown. She followed with a sheer pink gloss - in this case, Glow Baby Glow gloss in Smooches.

Tonight's Eyeliner Will Be Bright and Blue

If you can't wear bright colors on New Year's Eve, when can you wear them? I'm not one to go all out with a bold hue, but a hint of tint? No problem. Inspired by the Fall Proenza Schouler runway makeup, I used Mark Metalliner ($5) to draw a thin line of shimmery blue along my upper lash line. This liner gets the thumbs-up from me because it's inexpensive, the color is bright, and the tip is extremely thin - so it's easy to use even if you're a liquid-liner novice. And even in a blurry camera-phone shot, it grabs your attention. So go ahead, have a little fun with your makeup tonight - or make it a resolution to do so in 2009.

Mark Makes a Greek Vacation Into an "Instant" Reality

This summer, two huge films feature the Greek Isles in their backdrop: Mamma Mia! and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, which opens today.

While a trip to the Greek Isles will have to remain a fantasy for me just this second, I can thank Mark for bringing an "instant vacation" right to me with their Mark Instant Vacation Greek Isles Fragrance Mist ($15).

I love the turquoise blue bottle, which reminds me of the bright waters and skies of Greece. Floral notes such as gardenia and white freesia impart a lighter tone than the predominately honey-and-coconut scent. It's a warm, slightly fruity fragrance with decent staying power (plus, it's not overwhelmingly heavy). I also like the fact that even though it is reminiscent of warmer climates, it can be spritzed well into any season. It isn't the most distinctive scent you'll ever try, but it's pleasant and fresh. One day I hope to spend more time in this beautiful Mediterranean island. For now, I'll take this journey - even if it's really only in the aromatic sense.

Lauren Conrad Has a Heart, and Beauty Tips Too

The Hills are alive... with the sound of charity. This week, I had the chance to chat with Lauren Conrad in New York. You might know that she's a spokesperson for Mark cosmetics, but her partnership with the brand is growing in big ways. Mark has announced a new initiative, m.Powerment, which aims to raise awareness and stop relationship abuse. As part of the program, LC has designed the "Have a Heart" necklace ($22), and all proceeds will go to the cause.

Until the necklace goes on sale in September, though, LC is staying busy with her clothing line and - of course - the next season of The Hills. Since she's got the pretty SoCal girl thing down pat, I asked her to share some of her beauty tips. To find out how she gets her eyeliner just so, read more.

LC on her signature cat-eye eyeliner:
"I have the same makeup artist who actually works with Mark in LA, Amy Nadine. Now she’ll do my whole face and everything on, but when it comes to eyeliner, she just hands it to me because she knows I know how to do it. The brush on On The Edge is really thin, so all you have to do is hold it there, and you just push it down against your lashes and drag it. I just close my eyes and drag it along, because if you stretch out your eye when you let go it goes thicker. You just do both eyes and the winging is just what you have to practice. And honestly I do a different size and shape every day; I just have to try to do one and then try to match it. I think it’s a little bit of muscle memory every day. You just have to get used to it, because now I can do it in my rearview mirror - but it took me a while to get it down."

LC on the best beauty advice she's ever received:
"Less is more. I think that when I started doing makeup, I would get so excited that I was allowed to wear it that I would match my blue eye shadow to my blue top every day and it would be too much. And my mom always said to me, take it down a little. Less is more with makeup."

LC on her trendsetting nail polish choices:
“I got into ridiculous colors. I just bought an electric blue, and then in Sephora they have press-on foils and it lasts just like nail polish. ... I just got glitter, too, I found it in like a cheap party store. But if you layer it on it’s just solid glitter. Your nails look really cool. That’s a place where you can experiment.”
