We've always been told if we could turn romantic love into companion love, then marriage might just be happily ever after. But now more and more scientists agree that companion love is not the answer to a happy marriage; staying madly in love is!
A UC Santa Barbara study looked at brain scans of couples who claimed to be madly in love after 20 years of marriage and compared them to couples newly in love.

At first, I laughed at these marriage ads — turn me into we! — from Utah. The state is about 60 percent Mormon, so it's no surprise there are ads extolling the virtues of marriage.

After 50 years of marriage, Helen Gurley Brown's husband, David Brown, died yesterday. While he was a notable writer, editor, and producer, his toughest, most rewarding job may have been his successful marriage to the woman who brought sex to the masses.
Despite the make-yourself populism Helen peddled to women each month in Cosmo, she credited her success to her husband in 2008, saying, "I owe him everything.

Take a vacation, buy a new wardrobe, or find a therapist. Even get some friends together and have a dinner party, but don't put on a sash that says "It's All About Me" and throw a divorce party.
With divorce party planners, there are parties that go as far as having bands, caterers, and cakes as elaborate as the tiered, white cakes of weddings.

Filing jointly isn't necessarily the best option for you and your spouse, even if you have promised to be there in sickness and in health. The goal is to collectively pay the least amount of taxes possible, so run the numbers for both filing scenarios before settling.
Couples may benefit from separate filing if one of you had large medical expenses, high business expenses, or if one of you had significant theft losses.

Elizabeth Edwards, wife of perennial presidential candidate John Edwards, has endured a PR crisis since publishing her book, Resilience, last year. Gone is the saintly image of the woman who does nothing but give and gets nothing but the death of a child, cancer, and a philandering husband in return. In its place are accusations that's she's a crazy fame seeker with the grossest disparity between her public and private image.
