For times when the sultry bedhead hairstyle or tousled beach waves aren't what you're going after, why not play up the sexy side of curls with something a bit more mellow? You can still rock a come-hither look, without going the route of the old-timey roller set-style, either. At Milan Fashion Week, Hilary Swank looked stunning with waved hair that avoided being too prim and proper. What I like most about her loose, softly rolled curls is that they're not perfectly pouffed, but they still have that sensuous factor without being too in-your-face sexpot. This is a look I do about once or twice a week when I've got about five extra minutes in the morning, and by nighttime, it's perfectly tousled for cocktail hour. Get Emma Watson's Harry Potter Premiere Makeup Look

Despite the torrential rains at last night's UK Harry Potter Premiere, Emma Watson glowed like a sparkling ray of sunshine. She stood under an over-sized translucent brolly wearing a vintage Ossie Clarke gown and minimal jewels. She was smart to wear her hair up (get her hairstyle here) to avoid frizz, however, her makeup remained in tact all evening long.

Whilst I only officially know that her makeup artist used Lancome Oscillation Mascara in Black Motion as a finishing touch (apparently Emma swears by it), I've studied her look and have drummed up product recommendations for you to re-create at home.

EYES: Apply a creamy pale beige shadow such as Gosh Waterproof Eye Shadow in Love That Champagne all over the lid. Then, using a tapered shadow brush, blend a deep pink shade such as i.d. bareMinerals Eye Shadow in Shantung to the crease. Next, line the top of your eyes only with something like Benefit Waterproof Bad Gal Liner in Black. When it's dry, apply two coats of mascara, fill in your brows and as a finally dab a little bit of white shimmer to the inner v of your eyes.

FACE: To get Emma's youthful glow, you won't want to choose a light base with minimal coverage. Begin by adding a little bit of concealer (in a shade that's a few shades lighter that your skin) under your eyes, around your nose. Use your index finger gently blend. Next, smooth a tinted moisturser all over your skin like Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser in Nude followed with light dusting of a matching loose powder to help set the foundation.

CHEEKS: Now it's glow time. For this particular look I encourage you to use a medium rose cream blusher (I like No7 Blush Tint Cream Blush in Blossom). Start at the apples of your cheeks and blend outwards towards your hairline. Next, apply a sheen enhancing product like MAC Strobe Cream just above your blusher, to the bridge of your nose, your chin and in the center of your forehead.

LIPS: Finally it's time to concentrate of your pout. Emma has matched her blusher to her lipstick which It creates a simple and youthful effect, especially in her creamy matte, pink colour choice. Make sure lips are exfoliated and with a brush apply a shade such as Clinique Long Lasting Lipstick in Soft Bloom all over.

Elizabeth Banks is often spotted sporting old-school hairstyles. And as the actress walked the red carpet earlier today at the Cannes Film Festival, Fab and I couldn't help but notice. While Elizabeth chose a head-to-toe beaded gown and vintage-inspired hairstyle in a longer length, it was her combination of makeup tones that caught our attention. A smokey palette of dusty purple-gray ones on the eyes, coupled with soft pink on the lips and cheeks, made for a perfect balance of sweet and sexy - ideal for any upcoming Spring or Summer soirée.

Eyes: Generously line both the upper and lower lash lines with black pencil, such as Maybelline Expert Eyes Pencil in Velvet Black ($3). Next, apply the deeper-toned gray shadow from Rimmel Colour Rush Quad Eye Shadow in Smokey Purple ($6.29) on the lids. Tap onto the liner to lock it in. Finally, create a soft winged-out look by adding either of the medium-toned smokey purple shades to the outer contours of the eyes. Smudge into the lower lash line for a cohesive look. For extra drama, try a shimmering pale pink highlighter right below the brow, like Bare Escentuals Eye Color in Cultured Pearl ($13).
Cheeks and lips: Since the cheek and lip colors match so closely in this look, why not go the route of a multitasker? Try Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks ($22) in Powder Pink for that fresh-faced glow.

Bella Donna: Greta Garbo

Swedish born actress Greta Garbo, née Greta Lovisa Gustafson, was known for her alluring, sensual, and extremely private nature. Before striking it big in both the silent and "talkies" film eras, her first job was in the beauty biz (ah, a girl after Bella's heart) as a lather girl at a local barbershop.

Another early job involved modeling hats, which ironically became one of Garbo's trademark accessories. Her slightly curled, medium length hairstyle and highly arched, rounded eyebrows represented the epitome of 1930s style. Pale, flawless skin and precisely lined matte red lips completed her soulful look.

A breast cancer survivor, Garbo died in relative seclusion in New York City in 1990. Her New York Times obituary read, "Mysterious and aloof, she appealed to both men and women, and she exerted a major influence on women's fashions, hair styles, and makeup."

In fact, her stunning, dramatic look was recognized by The Guinness Book of World Records, having at one time been named the most beautiful woman who ever lived. Not one to fuss much with, well anything, really, she was once quoted as saying, "I live like a monk: with one toothbrush, one cake of soap, and a pot of cream."

How-To: Lauren Conrad's MTV VMA Hair

For seasons to come, girls will bring pictures of LC's hairstyle at the 2008 VMAs into salons and confused hairstylists will try to piece together what is going on in the back of Lauren's head. Is her hair braided? Is it curled? Twisted? A bun? A chignon? Those hairstylists will silently curse Christine Symonds, stylist at Warren-Tricomi Los Angeles, who did Lauren's hair for the awards. "It's pretty simple. Just a lot of pins. It's a pin-head 'do!" she said. "We did a similar look at the premiere party for The Hills, but for the VMAs we made it more romantic."

STEP ONE: Part hair in the middle. Use a medium-barrel curling iron to create some defined waves. Symonds then smoothed on Warren Tricomi Finishing Cream to prevent frizz.
STEP TWO: Pull all the hair except the front section on either side into a messy bun. "The kind where you make a ponytail but don't pull it all the way through, not the kind where you coil hair around and put an elastic around it," explained Symonds. Secure with a clear elastic, like Blax Snag-Free Hair Elastics.
STEP THREE: Symonds used blonde bobby pins, like Scunci Classic Pins, to twist up curls from the front and pin them into the bun.
STEP FOUR: Secure the look with hairspray. Symonds used Redken Workforce 09.

How-To: Alicia Keys's Bright BET Makeup

Alicia Keys showed off two distinct hairstyles at the BET Awards, and she took a playful approach to her makeup, too. Her skin's golden glow is perfect for hot Summer nights, and by pairing a shimmery violet eye shadow with a shiny fruit-punch lip, she shows that you can have a little fun on the red carpet. Face: Starting with clean and moisturized skin, apply a medium-coverage foundation such as Iman Second to None ($23), which is available for a wide range of skin tones. Then, blend a luminizer like Smashbox Artificial Light in Glow ($30) on the apples of the cheeks. Then sweep a warm, rose-tinged shade of bronzer on cheeks and the bridge of your nose; Too Faced Caribbean in a Compact ($25) should do the trick nicely.

Eyes: Alicia's eyes sparkle in warm plum and gold shades, and cream shadow is a great way to get the look. You'll need two colors; try Benefit Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow ($18) in Stiletto and Tattle Tale.

Use a brush to apply the gold color on your eyelids, from the lash line toward the brows. Use a narrow, flat-tipped brush to bring the color along the lower lash line near the inner corner of your eye. Next, use the darker shade on the lid itself. Use a black pencil eyeliner to define the upper lash line (aim to get the color in between the lashes, not above them). Alicia is wearing false eyelashes, but you can fake the look with two coats of black mascara. (Just be sure to curl your lashes first.)

Lips: With color this bold, it's best to break out a lip brush for precise application. Choose a bright pink shade such as MAC lipstick in Eager ($14), then use the brush to fill in your lips. Follow with a coat of warm, sparkling gloss; Max Factor MAXalicious in Girls' Night Out will add a little shine to your smile.

The finishing touch: Dust your clavicle, shoulders, and upper arms with a shimmer powder such as Urban Decay Honey ($26) for a little more shine.

How To: Mischa Barton's "O.C." Soft Waves

This week, FabSugar is paying tribute to the trendsetting fashion of "The OC," so I thought I'd join the party with a few posts about the notable hair and beauty looks featured on the indulgent SoCal teen drama. With their side ponytails, long locks, and flawlessly fresh makeup, the "OC" girls always managed to look pulled together and cutting edge.

First up: Mischa Barton's soft wavy style from the show's first season. Not only is Barton blessed with a hell of a body and a gorgeous face, but she's also got great hair: It's not too flat or too curly, and it looks great long whether it's styled wavy or straight.

Shampoo and condition your hair like usual and then towel dry. Brush hair, set your part, and work a small palm-full of volumizing mousse like Kerastase Mousse Volumactive from the roots to the ends.
Blow dry your hair straight so that the cuticles are nice and smooth. Next, section your hair into about eight even parts and secure them with hair clips.
Beginning with undermost layers, take a large barreled curling iron (about 1-1/4-inch) and set it on medium to low heat. Don't open the curling iron - you will get frayed and harsh ends - but instead, wrap your section of hair around the barrel and let it sit for about seven seconds. Repeat this for each section.
When you are finished, you will be left with ringlets. You'll be temped to brush your hair out, but don't! Instead, flip your head over, shake out your hair, flip it back, and gently finger the curls to relax them into waves.
Reset your part gently and then use a light- to medium-hold hairspray to set your hair. If you have bangs, your can brush them lightly to one side so that they blend into the waves, and then spray that area a little bit more heavily than the rest of your hair.
