One in four adults deal with a diagnosable mental disorder in the US, and about one in 17 lives with a serious mental illness.

I feel like I've been mildly depressed for the last few years, but I'm not sure. A few times a year, I always hit a super low point where I constantly cry. Eventually the sobbing turns to hyperventilation, and I end up a wreck on the floor having terrible thoughts.

Taking the second half of your run at a faster pace is great prep for the negative split racing strategy; where you start out slowly, then push your pace at or just before the middle mark. Aside from being a racing strategy, saving your speed for the second half of the run means your body will be completely warmed up and ready to be pushed. Just because the weather is cooling doesn't mean you should leave your speed work out in the cold.

Sometimes stress brings with it a never-ending tape loop of worries. Once the litany begins, it's hard to quiet it down. I find the best way to battle my tireless tape loop is to get out of my brain or change my focus.

I wouldn't go as far to say that I'm one of those people with a fear of flying, but when I hear a weird sound under the wing, or there's a loud clunking noise right before take off, I can't say I easily shake it off.
During a family trip once, my dad ended up sitting beside a woman who was beyond terrified to fly. She was not only crying uncontrollably, but she also clenched both of my dad's hands during takeoff.

The state that created the concept of hanging loose is unsurprisingly the least stressed-out state in the union. According to a CDC phone survey, involving 2.4 million Americans, fewer Hawaiians experience "frequent mental distress" than anywhere else in the US.
Participants were asked the total days, out of the previous 30, they would describe their mental health as being "not good."
