Fabcon: Grasie Mercedes

You may not recognize the face of Grasie Mercedes now, but after you get to know her cool personal style, you won't forget it.

Grasie is a Dominican-born actress, on-air host, producer, and wardrobe stylist. She's worked as a producer for MTV (probably where she met her longtime boyfriend and MTV host Damien Fahey), and her passion for fashion landed her a job as a stylist for American Eagle. But enough about her career and more about her style.

Whenever I see Grasie at a red carpet event or at Fashion Week, I am drawn to her outfit. From girlie floral dresses to sharp rompers and leather jackets, she knows how to stand out from the crowd. She always looks put together without being over the top. What I most admire is that she understands the concept of tempering super girly pieces with dark colors and boyish accents.

Glee-ful Highlights and Video From Episode "Ballad"

Maybe it's because Glee set the bar so high last week, or maybe it's the lack of Sue, but this week's episode just didn't do it for me. There are plenty of catchy tunes, but Rachel's all-of-a-sudden crush on Mr. Schue seems a bit forced, and it seems ridiculous that Will and Emma are best buddies again with no mention of their dramatic encounters from a few weeks ago.

It does have some touching moments (along with some sad ones) for Finn and Quinn, so to get into it just read more.

Mr Schue has the glee kids draw names out of a hat and assigns each pair a ballad to help them profess their feelings. He shoots himself in the foot when he throws his own name into the ring and Rachel draws it. One spot-on duet of "Endless Love" later, Rachel's found herself a brand new crush to distract her from her feelings for Finn. I liked this plot line, but something about it felt a bit too forced, like the writers just squeezed it in to have Mr. Schue sing his mash-up. I did kind of love when Terri has Rachel clean the bathroom, though, and when Emma and Rachel are equally goo-goo eyed over Mr. Schue's mini-performance. Speaking of Emma, aren't she and Will supposed to be trying to stay away from each other?

Quinn and Finn's situation comes to a head this week, and both end up breaking the news to their parents. Well, actually, Finn breaks the news to Quinn's parents via a dinner table performance of Paul Anka's "(You're) Having My Baby." While Quinn's parents are heartbreakingly unsupportive, Finn's mom takes the kids in when Quinn has nowhere else to go. The rest of the gleeks profess their own love for the couple with a rendition of "Lean on Me" which is super cheesy, but necessary after the harsh scene with Quinn's parents.
Puck finally breaks down and admits to Mercedes that he's the father of Quinn's baby. Mercedes doesn't even ask questions - just tells Puck that he's already done enough and to back off. Though Puck is staying away for now, it seems like the cat's out of the bag. Plus, did you catch the smirk he makes at Quinn at the end of the episode?

Glee's Amber Riley Weighs In on the Hollywood Skinny

If you watch Glee, then you probably know Amber Riley as Mercedes - the gal that brought the house down on last week's episode singing Jill Scott's "Hate on Me." Like the feisty character she portrays, Amber told Life and Style magazine that as a full-figured actress, it's important to be happy with yourself. She says,

“You’re not your dress size, you’re not your shoe size, you’re not your pants size. If I’m going to wear a name tag, it’s going to say ‘Amber Riley,’ not ‘Fat Girl’!”

The self-admitted shoeaholic, Amber likes formfitting clothes rather than "plus-size clothes that look like tents." She has a shape and she wants to show it. This young actress rocks a size 16, looks up to Queen Latifah and Jennifer Hudson, and is brimming with confidence. In Hollywood, a land where it is rare for women to be satisfied with their looks, body, and weight, I find her positive body image refreshing. How about you?

Fashion Week Swim Scorches Miami

This week kicked off the most sizzling fashion week yet - the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim Miami, Spring 2010. Prominent swimwear lines like Tibi returned, while newcomers like Caffe Swimwear and Marysia splashed around for the first time. Celebs Olivia Palermo, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, and Perry Reeves were there to partake in the sexy fun. Expect Spring '10 swimwear and resort to be characterized by leather, one-shoulders, loud prints, swim caps, and exotic cover-ups. Sounds and looks muy caliente to me!

Lindsay Parties Oscar Weekend Away With Samantha

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson cuddled up to each other at the Mercedes-Benz Oscar party last night in LA. Lindsay paired a LWD with black platforms posing on one of the many red carpets of the night. She addressed her recent weight loss, explaining that stress from work meetings may have caused it, but said she has not changed her eating habits. On Saturday night she attended Harvey Weinstein's pre-Oscar party with Jennifer Lopez and Penelope Cruz. On Sunday she prepped with a trip to the hair salon before watching the show at Asia de Cuba. While many stars were at the Vanity Fair afterparty, LL stayed by Samantha's side as she worked and then supposedly they both headed on over to the exclusive Madonna/Demi party.

All Chace Wants For His B-Day Is a Mercedes (& World Peace)

Chace Crawford looked windswept and dreamy at the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge in the Hamptons on Saturday. The actor turned 23 on Friday and joked that he wanted one of the Mercedes prizes from the tournament and world peace as his presents. Multiple celebrations were in order for the b-day boy who flew in friends to party with him, Blake and Penn. Chace might have blown out some candles this weekend but he is still raising the heat all over with the new steamy Gossip Girl ads.

Patrick Dempsey's a Classic Like His Car

Patrick Dempsey spent some one-on-one time with his shiny Mercedes convertible on Monday, taking it for a spin around Beverly Hills. We're sure he's been enjoying the Summer with his family between work on the set of Grey's Anatomy, but is still making sure not to neglect the other loves in his life: his toys. With all the drama surrounding the fate of Izzie Stevens for next season, we're just glad that Patrick and his McDreaminess are here to stay - at least for now.

Love It or Hate It: Mischa Barton in Berlin

Mischa Barton certainly looks radiant, in the front row of the Hugo by Hugo Boss Fashion Show, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, in Berlin.

I love her full fringe and glowing complexion, but wasn't too sure about her choice of outfit.

While I applaud her studded belt – very next season – I'm not so sure about the strapless dress and numerous silver bangles.

Mischa normally looks edgier than this, and less flesh-flashing – although she definitely has the figure for it.

What do you think of this look on her?
