Remember the mirrored furniture trend that I alerted you to in August? Well, the trend is still in, and west elm has just come out with a chic mirror coffee table ($449), so your living room can be dressed in the latest fashion. The table is pretty similar in shape to their popular Parsons table as well. They're calling it, "Something for hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and holiday décor to reflect on." What could be better?

Crave Worthy: Symi Tray Coffee Table

If you want to get your hands on this elegant table as much as I do, read more and start saving! The Rian Rae Symi Tray Coffee Table ($2,145) is, to say the least, a little out of my price range. But a girl can dream, right? The 36-inch diameter table, which features a round mirror top and a folding base, is made of hand-forged wrought iron and plated in reflective nickel. Maybe channeling Narcissus isn't such a bad idea, after all . . .

Roundup: Mirrored Cocktail Tables

I was taking a look at some set photos of Melrose Place and noticed this showstopping clover-shaped mirrored cocktail table. It was from Horchow/Neiman Marcus, but it doesn't look like it's available any longer - to be honest, this whole room looks like it could have been furnished by Horchow. Anyway, you know how I love mirrored furniture, so it's no surprise that this caught my eye. But seeing it makes me think if you're going to go for the glitzy trend, you may as well show it off to your cocktail party guests. Ask Casa: Furnishings For My New Sofa

Hi Casa,
I read your post about your new favorite color - that slate color with the blue/purple undertones - and I have to say that I totally agree. In fact, I just moved to a new apartment and bought a couch from West Elm in that color. I love the couch! It's called light charcoal, but I saw the fabric in the store and it has wonderful blue undertones. Anyway, I bought the couch and don't know what else to do in my living area! I thought decorating it would be so much fun, but I don't know where to go with chairs and the coffee table. I want to make the space have a light feeling, so obviously I need to start incorporating some lighter pieces. Do you have any suggestions? I have tons of space, so size isn't too much of an issue.

Great question! I'm glad I'm not alone in my love for this color! While I think the blueish slate color looks great with dark elements, I know what you mean about wanting to keep your space light. I'm not sure what your aesthetic is or exactly which sofa you chose, so I'll do my best to help you.

I think something like this West Elm Bridge Coffee Table ($299), which has a beautifully grained natural sungkai wood veneer, would look fantastic with a blueish gray and keep things light.

You can also lighten the room by choosing an upholstered chair or ottoman with a white pattern on it. For example, I think this Urban Outfitters Lulu Chair ($425) with its smokey background would look great with charcoal, but the white design really brightens things up. Head to your local fabric store to find a textile with a light or white pattern that works with your tastes and have a chair reupholstered in it.

If you go with drapery with a bit of shimmer to them, like these West Elm Silk Dupioni Window Panels ($69-$109), you'll instantly lighten things up. Or, you can go nearly transparent with simple Sheer Linen Window Panels ($24-$44).

You should definitely also hang mirrors on your walls to reflect your natural light. As I've mentioned before, mirrors do a fantastic job of opening a room up. You can even try using mirrored furniture to really reflect light around the room!

I've been loving all of your bedroom ideas lately! Since I am currently thinking of redoing my bedroom and sitting room, I was hoping you'd be able to help me with some imagery or ideas. I want darker walls, vintage movie posters, and a dresser like the ones they use "backstage" in movies with rows of light bulbs. I'd like to incorporate a bit of a Broadway theme into my room. I want the sitting room to be colorful and crazy, but still comfortable and cool. Do you have any thoughts for me?

You've imagined a very inspired space. How fun!

I assume when you say "dresser" you mean a vanity, where you sit down to get all dolled up. I've gone ahead and rounded up a bunch of furniture to help you achieve this look you've dreamed up. First, you'll need that vanity, and I've selected a few for you. I think a dark wood one would be ideal, but you can always paint a more affordable white one. If the vanity you choose doesn't come with a mirror, I've picked one for you. If you want the real thing, check out this 1970s Mirror From a Dressing Room in the Moulin Rouge ($750).

Beside the mirror, you'll want to install bathroom light bars on the wall. Depending on the size you want, you can find them at Bathroom Lighting Source for $37.50 to $93.50.

For seating, go with a tufted velvet stool for your vanity and a relaxing fainting sofa. Set a mirrored coffee table beside it. Velvet curtains will coordinate and add glamour. To achieve that "crazy" quality you're aiming for, choose a theatrical rug, which will become the focal point of the room.

I'm partial to original movie posters, and MoviePoster.com is a great source for them. Pick a few of your favorites and have them framed. Try La Dolce Vita ($16), Barbarella ($16), My Fair Lady ($15), or Lolita ($16) to add some color and spice.

Get the Look: Selina Lake Style

Interior stylist and author of Bazaar Style Selina Lake has done it again, spellbinding me with fresh photos in her portfolio. Her talent at styling everything from a mantel vignette to a tented outdoor sitting area is insurmountable, but I will take a shot at recreating one of the stunning rooms in her portfolio. Beyond its architectural details, the elegance of this room relies heavily on accessories and curves. Without the cohesive palette of its pillows, throws, candlelight, and ornate mirror, this room would be quite lackluster. Beyond that, the furniture doesn't necessarily make a bold statement, but the curves of each piece tie it all together and parallel the femininity provided by lush textiles and ornate details.

But first, begin by painting your walls a chalky gray like Benjamin Moore Cloudy Sky (2122-30).

On to furniture. A Chesterfield sofa like the one shown here with nice, rounded arms isn't hard to find. Use a nightstand with feminine curves as a side table. If you can't find a gilded one, lay on a couple coats of gold paint. Choose a dark wood coffee table with a nice silhouette. Your armchair should have comfortable curves, and a soft fabric like velvet.

Get the Look: Dark and Cozy in Stockholm

I spotted this home in Sweden's design glossy Skona Hem, and loved the coziness of the living room, and how courageous, rather than predictable, the dark colors are. The mix of materials - velvet, silk, leather - brings so much texture and life to the room. In most rooms, a purple velvet sofa such as this one could be abrasive, but the palette here welcomes it; it belongs in this room. I thought I'd show you how to get the look of this room, since I love it so! It's not the type of space that comes naturally to most; it's quite eclectic. Start by covering your walls with the Cole & Son African Tree wallpaper (inquire for price). Next, you'll need a velvet sofa with defined curves in a deep purple or blue color. Lay down a patchwork cowhide rug. Instead of a coffee table, go for a Moroccan-style tea table. Glam it up with a scented candle and some fresh tulips. For storage, get yourself a Chinese armoire or cabinet. Top it with some bulbous metallic vases. Center a round mirror over the fireplace as a focal point. And, for

Ask Casa: A Table for These Chairs

I have two amazing chairs that need a coffee table to sit in front of them and I am absolutely stumped as to what would work with them. I've just had the chairs reupholstered in a silver-grey velvet. Any suggestions?

You're right-those chairs are amazing! This room looks great as is with your mirrored console and silvery taupe color scheme, so you have a lot to work with.

My immediate thought was that you should go with something round to mimic the feminine curves of your wonderful tufted chairs. Your hardwood floors are also magnificent, so a glass-topped table would be an excellent way to highlight the floors. The room also has a French Art Deco vibe going on with the mirrored console and lavish textiles, so it would be nice to echo that in your table. There's a lot going on already in the room, but in a good way, so your table doesn't necessarily need to be a statement piece, but just something that brings the other great elements of the room together.

Ideally, I'm picturing a round or elliptical glass top table with a finished metal base, with tapered legs and a French Deco feel. While you can't always get what you want, I've come up with suggestions that will get you (hopefully) there.

Steal of the Day: Brocade Home Silhouette Coffee Table

So, I told you recently that Brocade Home is back after a Summer respite, with sadly only one notable new item. But, did I mention that it's offering killer discounts? The Brocade Home Silhouette Coffee Table ($99, reduced from $399) is discounted a whopping 76 percent. The table is made of solid oak, and with a basic square shape updated with classic, feminine curves. It's not a piece that will be out of style in a few years, like mirrored furniture. Midday Muse: Luggage Furniture

We've all heard the expression, "living out of a suitcase." And, until now, it's been associated with temporary, not ideal living situations — "slumming it." But, Marie Claire Maison has envisioned tes valises in a whole new form. Here, inspired by traditional hard-case trunks (think Joe Versus the Volcano), two wooden shelves painted fluorescent yellow were installed in a metal suitcase to store Summer attire, like a mini closet.
