What to Expect on the High Street Next Spring

Attending catwalk shows and reporting back is always exciting, but when you see the High Street interpretations it gives you an idea of how the trends will really manifest. Yesterday, Arcadia held their Spring press day which presented the items due to hit store from January 2010. Although I can't show you any images just yet (patience is a virtue!) I wanted to tell you a bit about what to expect.

First up, I checked out Miss Selfridge which was very girly. It was divided in to two key trends; neutrals and '90s florals. There were nude shades covered in sequins for flapper style dresses with subtle jacquard floral prints and delicate feminine fabrics. These were contasted against bright, floral prints, grungey designs and '90s boho.

Next up was Topshop, which is always the most trend driven of the High Street stores. They split the Spring collection in to four key themes; body armour, la latina, meadow and techno traveller. Body armour was my favourite part with sportswear inspired designs and '90s column maxi dresses. La latina is the high Summer collection with bright fun prints, whilst meadow is a bit more subdued with soft floral prints. Finally, techno traveller will appeal to festival fans as pieces were bright, cheerful with embellishment and fringing.

Buzz In: What Is Your Favorite Musical-Turned-Movie?

This is the week for Broadway shows! Not only are the current theater selections raking in more cash than usual despite the economy, it also sounds like we'll soon be seeing two more musicals move to the big screen. I already told you about the plans for a Rock of Ages movie musical, and now comes word that Miss Saigon may be getting the film treatment too, with Lee Daniels in talks to direct. (You may recognize his name as the director of Precious. Check back next week for my interview with him!)

I've seen Miss Saigon on stage, and I think Daniels is a solid choice for the musical. Based on his past films, I'm guessing he'd shape it into more of a gritty drama than a flashy Hollywood number - and that's a good thing given the show's darker subject matter.

While some shows have made the transition to film with only lukewarm success in recent years - hello, Phantom of the Opera - I still have a soft spot in my heart for them, especially when it comes to classics like My Fair Lady or West Side Story. Steve Carell Teeing Up For the Missing Links

So I may not play golf, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a good comedy based on the game. (Remember that scene in Happy Gilmore when Adam Sandler squares off with Bob Barker? Classic.) Now Steve Carell may be joining the ranks of Sandler and Chevy Chase (Caddyshack!) with a golf movie of his very own.

The Office star is reportedly in talks for Missing Links, based on a novel from ESPN sportswriter Rick Reilly. The film follows a golf enthusiast and his buddies as they hatch various elaborate strategies to get onto an exclusive course. Costars haven't been announced yet, but I'd love to see Paul Rudd or maybe Thomas Lennon as other members of Carell's foursome - just picture those guys donning goofy checked caps and argyle socks!

Carell is always reliable for a few laughs, so I have high hopes for this one - what about you? Who would you cast as his golfer friends?

Sienna Sparkles at After Miss Julie Opening Night

Sienna Miller looked stunning last night at the afterparty following the opening night of After Miss Julie on Broadway, in which she stars alongside Jonny Lee Miller. Hugh Dancy, Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams and Anna Wintour were among those in the audience, and Sienna beamed during the curtain call. Reviews have been mixed so far for her Broadway debut, but Sienna looked relaxed and happy at the afterparty in a gorgeous Balmain dress. Stunning!

Not Fake: Hungary Crowns Miss Plastic Surgery

Perky contestants vied for the crown of Miss Plastic Hungary this week. Only women who have gone under the knife were invited to participate in the artificial-beauty pageant held in Budapest. Botox wouldn't qualify you, but one contestant's surgically adjusted toes did get her included. Reka Urban, 22, won the (plastic?) crown, and she received an apartment in Budapest as her prize. Eva Rallies Engines in Her Bikini For a Good Cause

Eva Longoria kept her bikini body under wraps over the weekend as she hit the beach in Miami. She joined friends at the Eden Roc Renaissance hotel in a sparkly two-piece, though she kept her famous figure covered with either a towel or her long-sleeved shirt. Eva was in Miami for Saturday's ''Rally For Kids With Cancer," which saw the actress don a variety of funny outfits to entertain children during the philanthropic event. We didn't get our usual dose of Eva as Gaby Solis on Desperate Housewives last night due to the American Music Awards, but next week's episode looks like it can't be missed.

Natalie, Tobey, and Amanda Bring Family to See Brothers

Natalie Portman in brilliant blue stole the spotlight last night at a screening of Brothers in NYC. One of her two leading men, Tobey Maguire, joined her on the red carpet along with his wife Jennifer Meyer, though Jake Gyllenhaal missed the event. Amanda Peet was right by her husband David Benioff's side, supporting his latest screenwriting effort. Natalie was caught up in New Moon mania last week, but yesterday was all about her own upcoming project - check out the moving trailer before its release on December 4.

Abortion Coverage: Missing What Many Never Knew They Had

One of the most convincing arguments for passing the public health plan without abortion coverage is that very few women use insurance to cover abortions to begin with. But if you've heard the statistic that only 13 percent of abortions are billed to insurers, that's not exactly the whole truth.

The Guttmacher Institute, the pro-choice organization responsible for the study the stats were pulled from, contests the 13 percent statistic has been taken out of context and widely used through the media - like, say, in the Wall Street Journal article we linked to yesterday.

While the study does say only 13 percent of first-term abortions are billed to private insurers, that figure is skewed because it looked at all women who had abortions and not just those who had insurance. You can't bill an insurer if you don't have one! The study also did not include women who paid for abortions up front and were later reimbursed.

So what's a realistic number? Nobody really knows because of the private nature of abortions. Another Guttmacher study found that 87 percent of employer-based insurance plans covered abortions, but a Kaiser Family Foundation study found that only 46 percent of covered workers reported coverage. Why such a big a difference? Many women just don't know their insurance covers abortion.

As Congress continues to debate the public health plan, do you care if it includes abortion coverage? Can we miss something so many women never knew they had?

Girls and Guys Get Glam For the American Music Awards!

The American Music Awards took place last night in Los Angeles, celebrating the best in US music from the past 12 months! Taylor Swift was the big winner of the night, dominating the female categories and getting gongs for favourite artist in both pop and country categories as well as beating Michael Jackson to the huge award - Artist of the Year. Taylor's in London at the moment and missed the ceremony, but Michael's family Jermaine and Janet were at the ceremony and picked up the late singer's four awards.

Country act Gloriana were shocked to beat Lady GaGa to Breakthrough Artist award, while Twilight picked up yet another award for Favourite Soundtrack. Performers included Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, Rihanna, Lady GaGa as well as a performance by Adam Lambert that's got everyone talking - see why under the cut!

Wills Parties Like a Prince and Supports Charity and Country

Prince William wore a casual outfit of bodywarmer, jeans and trainers for a night out at Raffles on Saturday, grinning wide as he climbed into his car after leaving the club at 3.25am. It's been a couple of months since we last saw Wills out clubbing, and just last week we spotted Kate Middleton at a film premiere. Wills has arranged his trip to New Zealand and Australia to make sure the couple will be together to celebrate Kate's 28th birthday on 9 January, as he missed her last two birthdays. It looks like Wills is doing a great job balancing his social and personal life with his official duties, and has set up the Charitable Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, which will give grants to needy young people and wounded service personnel. As FA President, Wills has also given his backing to England's 2018 World Cup bid, saying:

"England's love for the game is world renowned. Football is in our blood. We're proud of our great cultural diversity. We will offer a warm, home-from-home welcome to all the participating teams and their supporters. As a nation, we are united behind the bid. Speaking personally, I am very proud to be supporting it. I believe, with England's great passion for the game, we will stage a World Cup to remember forever. A first-class festival of football. 1966 and football are one in England's psyche and collective memory. It is the stuff of legend. For young people like myself, who were not around to experience the pride and excitement of that time, the opportunity to live it first hand will be an enormous privilege."
