Paris Fashion Week, A/W 2009: Miu Miu

Paris Fashion Week closed with a bang on Thursday with presentations by Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu. The younger sister of Prada seemed to come of age this season with an exotic themed collection. There was a very glamorous feel to the Autumn line with sleek silhouettes, pencil skirts and sparkly embellishment. Tapestry like prints dominated the show with plunging necklines and soft tailoring.

Generally hemlines were below the knee or calf length teamed with elegant heels or patent ankle boots. The footwear really stole the show (as always) as ankle strap, zip back heels cemented their place on the fashion radar. Bejeweled tights were also prominent offering a key accessory trend for the cooler months.

Aside from exposed bras, this season saw Miu Miu unveil a new elegance bringing timeless dresses in to the contemporary age with embellishment, prints and carefully draped fabric.

Fab Ad: Katie Holmes for Miu Miu

Earlier today we revealed Victoria Beckham's new ad campaign for Giorgio Armani lingerie, and now it's the turn of her best friend Katie Holmes. The highly anticipated new face of Miu Miu was unveiled today as Katie poses in a dress from the design houses' Spring range.

It was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, who also shot Victoria for Armani. They spoke about this campaign explaining that Katie depicts a "luminous icon radiating a sense of mystery and theatricality" as inspired by the films of Fellini.

It's Katie's first ever fashion campaign so I think a big congratulations in order. Maybe her and Victoria will share a bottle of bubbly later?

Fab Flash: Katie Holmes Is a Miu Miu Model

The swirling rumors are confirmed: Miu Miu has chosen Katie Holmes to be the face of its Spring campaign. Details are still under wraps but we do know that the ads were shot last week - hence the smokey eye makeup residue caught on Holmes face seen left. With Miu Miu's past history of choosing celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan, Kirsten Dunst, and Vanessa Paradis, does this come as a surprise to you?

Love it or Hate it: Miu Miu Embellished Socks

Michael Jackson's style has affected the fashion industry this season as military jackets, black loafers and embellished socks are back on trend. Bejewelled tights and socks appeared on the catwalk at Doo Ri and were a key item in the New Look Autumn collection.

Miu Miu have embraced the look with these embellished socks (£245) which could be worn pulled up with a knee length skirt. What do you think of these statement socks?

I don't know what it is about sepia tones, but it certainly complements Miu Miu - these are some of my favorite Fall ads thus far. Shot by Mert and Marcus, the aesthetic is stark, but provocative. The clothes look plush, the accessories rich. The models aren't my favorite - newbies Hannah Holman, Ilda Lundqvist, and Mimmi Söderström; some of their faces are a bit lackluster, but this blond stunner works it. These images remind me what a cool younger sister Prada has . . . what about you?

As long as the Pre-Fall goodies keep coming, we're going to keep sharing. This time, we have collections from Gucci, Prada, and Miu Miu. I like how Miuccia Prada experimented with texture in both of her collections. The Miu Miu line offered more whimsical pieces while Prada stuck to luxurious sophistication. For Gucci, Frida Giannini stunned me with slick, British intention. I'm in lust with the abundance of turquoise plaid and argyle like this outfit. It's so grungy cool. Fab Ad: More Katie Holmes for Miu Miu

Earlier this week I revealed the first Katie Holmes for Miu Miu ad and today another has been unveiled. This shot sees Katie posing next to a bowl of fire and looking smoking hot (pardon the pun). It is a slightly more dramatic picture than the previous image, I'm enjoying seeing this side of Ms. Holmes! The Spring campaign was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott who also shot Victoria Beckham for Armani. What do you think of the latest installment?

The model's been prepped and the photo's been snapped - meet the face of Miu Miu Spring '09: Katie Holmes. This pairing came as a bit of a surprise to us, and we can now properly judge.

Katie's strong bone structure always photographs well and the sepia tone of the ad delivers a cool, vintage feel. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the ads were inspired by Italian director Fellini, and hoped Katie would appear to be a "luminous icon radiating a sense of mystery and theatricality."
