Movie Preview: Amanda Seyfried in Letters to Juliet

Amanda Seyfried's latest film Letters to Juliet looks like a mash up of her other work. First off, her character's name is Sophie, which brings Mamma Mia to mind, as does the romantic foreign locale. But even the title itself made me do a double-take - wait, isn't she already doing a book-turned-film about letters called Dear John?! Still, I'm not writing it off just yet. (No pun intended). I can be a sucker for a love story, even if it's a bit sappy.

The film follows Seyfried as an American tourist who discovers an unanswered "letter to Juliet" while on a trip in Verona, Italy. (The notes are left by visitors asking for help from Shakespeare's famous heroine.) She responds to the plea, and then sets off to find its author (Vanessa Redgrave) and reunite her with the man she left decades before. Of course, there's a triangle in there too, as Sophie begins to question her own relationship with her fiance (Gael Garcia Bernal) and falls for the woman's grandson (Christopher Egan).

The trailer pretty much gives away the whole movie, but this sort of storyline is usually predictable so I'll forgive the studio for it. Bonus for Taylor Swift fans: her "Love Story" is the theme song. The film doesn't arrive in theaters until May, but check it out and tell me what you think when you read more.

Remember Me - See It or Skip It?

This is quite the week for all us Robert Pattinson fans, as not only is New Moon out tomorrow, but the trailer for his latest film Remember Me has just been released! We saw Robert filming the movie in New York with costar Emilie de Ravin throughout the Summer, and now we've got our first look at Robert in the romantic drama. He plays American college student Tyler, who falls in love with a policeman's daughter, and Pierce Brosnan plays his dad! The new lovers struggle with their relationship as they both try to cope with family tragedies. It's due out in March 2010, so check out the trailer and vote to let me know: will you see it or skip it?

Nowhere Boy - See it or Skip it?

Aaron Johnson and Sam Taylor-Wood recently announced their engagement, and now the movie that brought them together is set to come out. Nowhere Boy is the story of John Lennon's childhood, featuring Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging's Aaron in the lead role, and directed by artist Sam Taylor-Wood. The movie's out on Christmas Day, and I can't wait to see it - but what do you think? Let me know!

Angelina Jolie in Salt - See it or Skip it?

Exciting - we saw Angelina Jolie filming it, but now the first trailer for Salt has been released! She plays Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who is accused by a defector of being a Russian spy, and has to go on the run and try to clear her name. The film's not out until summer 2010, but I'd love to know if you think you'll see it, or skip it!

Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin Will Cohost The Oscars!

The Oscars hosts have finally been announced, and they certainly don't disappoint - Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will be cohosting the ceremony! The two have worked together several times, including in a 2006 Saturday Night Live sketch, an episode of 30 Rock which aired in the UK on Comedy Central last week, and are soon to be seen costarring with Meryl Streep in It's Complicated - check out the trailer under the jump. Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia - See it or Skip it?

Last summer, we saw a lot of Jake Gyllenhaal in London with his girlfriend Reese Witherspoon as he worked on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in the UK. He stars in the movie alongside Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley, and the trailer has just been released! Invictus: See It or Skip It?

The trailer for Clint Eastwood's Invictus has been released, and it's got me excited for the film. It tells the true story of the 1995 Rugby World Cup Championship, which saw newly elected Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) team up with the captain of South Africa’s rugby team, Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon), to unite the country. It's due out in the UK on 5 February 2010, so check out the trailer below and vote to let me know: will you see it or skip it?

Taylor and Taylor Go On a Shopping and Dinner Date!

Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner went shopping at Alice + Olivia in Los Angeles yesterday, before heading for dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House. We've seen the couple on dates in LA and in Chicago, and they looked very happy together as they giggled in the car: so cute! When asked whether they're a couple during a radio show interview, Swift said: "I don't know, he's an amazing guy and we're really close … and ah … yep". She also spoke about how excited she is to see their film Valentine's Day, and said she hopes they will "get to do a private screening" - check out the trailer after the jump. Unsurprisingly Taylor is on "team Jake" when it comes to the Twilight battle, and you can show your allegiance by picking up some cute gear!

Maggie Receives An Education From Peter, Dominic and Carey

Maggie Gyllenhaal joined Peter Sarsgaard at the Paris Theatre in New York City last night for the premiere of An Education. Peter's costars Carey Mulligan and Dominic Cooper were also in attendance, although Dominic's girlfriend Amanda Seyfried couldn't make it. The trio of stars premiered the movie at the Toronto Film Festival last month, and the film is one of several great movies to hit our cinema screens this month: do you plan to see it or skip it? A Nightmare on Elm Street - See It or Skip It?

The first trailer for the new remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street has been released this week, starring familiar faces Thomas Dekker, Katie Cassidy and Twilight's Kellan Lutz among others. I'm not a huge fan of remakes, but I have to say this trailer intrigued me quite a lot and actually looks pretty good!
