Cover songs typically get a bad rap, but every once and a while a remake of a catchy track comes along that's worthy of its predecessor. (Just take Sinead O'Connor's version of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U," for instance).
Kelly Clarkson did her own renditions of The White Stripes's "Seven Nation Army" and Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" in concert earlier this week, and her samplings weren't half bad.

We've been nodding our heads like yeah to our new guilty pleasure, "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus for a couple months now, but it turns out Miley's not ashamed to say she has no idea what she's singing about. In the same interview where she chatted about sharing a dress with Kim Cattrall, Miley admitted she's never even heard a Jay-Z song in her life. When asked what song inspired the line, she said,
"I don't know, I didn't write the song so I have no idea.

Rob Marshall's long anticipated movie musical Nine won't hit theaters until December, and I'm practically counting the minutes until I can see all the talented ladies (Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, the list goes on) singing and dancing with Daniel-Day Lewis. The songs are showstoppers for sure, and now you can have a taste of the upcoming soundtrack. Give a listen to Fergie singing "Be Italian," one of the show's biggest numbers, and tell me what you think — nailed it or not impressed?

It's been seven years since Norah Jones burst onto the music scene with her debut album and mega-hit "Don't Know Why," and the talented chanteuse has continued to make beautiful, jazzy music (and one movie, which we'll just forget about) ever since.
Her latest album is The Fall, which comes out Nov. 17, and I'm already entranced by the soft, haunting "Light as a Feather."

For the third year in a row, I'm off to the Treasure Island Music Festival! Now that I'm a seasoned veteran, I can't wait to settle in for two days and listen to some tunes. The other day I highlighted Thao With the Get Down Stay Down, but there lots of other acts I'm psyched about.

New DVD and music releases are the perk of Tuesdays, and today's album picks are fresh, fun, and guaranteed to liven up your iPod. I've checked out today's new music and have some advice for what's worth the download.
Don't stop partying: I'll resist doing a full-on album review for Weezer's Raditude; it's tempting, because I've always been a fan and have much to say about the band's transformation over the last 15 years.

I rarely sweat it out without music cranked up — I even use music to motivate me before a workout. Although I mix it up and listen to different playlists, there are a few songs that really pump me up like "SOS," by Rihanna, "No One," by Alicia Keys, and "4 Minutes," by Madonna. These songs often make it into my workout playlists.

It also coincides with the debut of her new video for "Wait Your Turn" — check it out after the jump. Rihanna has remained silent about the incident with Chris Brown thus far, but she's finally opening up about what happened.

Maybe you're like me and you have an iTunes filled with thousands of songs and personalized playlists, but you're sick of your music and couldn't care less about listening to your library. Sites like Last.fm and Pandora offer great variety for a Gemini like myself, but once in a while you really need to mix it up — and by mixing it up, I mean by taking a trip down memory lane.
The site Songs You Used to Love may not have lengthy playlists for you to swoon over, but they do provide you with popular audio streams from the sixties up until just a few years ago.

Ever since my first Google search, life as I knew it changed forever. Google is really revving up their search engine thanks to small but helpful enhancements like being able to find your friends on social networking sites or by refining your search results by date and time.
And now that Google has teamed up with companies like imeem, Pandora, Lala, Sony Music, EMI, and WB, they are now able to deliver a new music search feature that makes it easy to discover music and listen to the track from one of these partner companies.
