Do You Prefer Natalie Portman as a Brunette or a Blonde?

Natalie Portman lightened up her typically brunette hair for the April cover of UK Marie Claire and for her press tour for The Other Boleyn Girl. I never pegged her the type for wild and chunky highlights, but she happens to look gorgeous in these photos. Do you like Natalie more as a brunette or a blonde?

2009 Oscars: Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is killing it on the red carpet. She wore a lovely lavender-colored strapless gown, which was a great foundation for her overall look as she mimicked the color on both her lips and her cheeks. In almost exact opposition were her brightly hued, blue-shadowed eyes and long, long lashes. In a way, it's almost a bit '80s, but in the most elegant sense - especially with the pulled back hair. What do you think of Natalie's look? Is it retro in a good way, or are you not feeling it?

Love It or Hate It? Natalie Portman

Actress Natalie Portman is working a youthful look at the Venice Film Festival, complete with glowing skin and fluffed up, candyfloss hair.

She's matched her eyeshadow with her navy blue dress, and although this look is not for everyone, the blue does seem to make her eyes look extra sparkly.

The red carpet was red hot last night filled with the most acclaimed stars from 2009's silver screen. Everyone arrived decked out to the nines, just as you'd suspect for the biggest night in Hollywood. The beauty looks (don't forget to vote on them here) were polished, simple and elegant this year with no overly surprising or dramatic makeup looks, however, the hair was something to talk about. Intricate updos, retro waves and half-up, half down hairstyles abounded. Out of these eight diverse looks, which do you like most?

How-To: Get Natalie Portman's Oscars Hairstyle

In my opinion, Natalie Portman was the shining star on the red carpet last night. Her Grecian Rodarte dress was young, fun, flattering, and I just adored the happy and bright bubblegum pink colour. Her makeup was also girly perfection. She wore pretty purples on her lids, pale pink on her cheeks and lavender on her lips. Lucky for us, I've also got the skinny on her hair. Kevin Mancuso, the Creative Director for Nexxus, created an intricate retro-waved updo for the ultimate glamourous old Hollywood look.

STEP 1: Begin by applying a volumizer to the hair to the roots of wet hair for body and texture. Next, use a palm-sized amount of medium-hold mousse such as Nexxus Mousse Plus Volumizing Foam Styler and distribute evenly.

STEP 2: Then, use a large round brush, and blow-dry hair concentrating on the ends so that it stays smooth. When hair is 100% dry, take a one or one-and-a-half inch curling iron and create waves making sure to curl hair away from your face.

STEP 3: Once your're finished, make a slight side-part and pull hair back and away from the face. Then, section hair off, twist it back and pin it so that the finished look is a knot-inspired updo. To add a little sparkle, pin a brooch or pin into the back of your hair.

STEP 4: Lastly, mist your entire head with a light-hold hairspray, such as Nexxus Comb Thru, to help secure the style throughout the evening.

Get Natalie's Yellow Nail Polish Look

I never thought of Natalie Portman as being too over-the-top crazy with her hair, makeup, or outfit choices. So I'm somewhat surprised to see her wearing bold, bright yellow nail polish. I guess it's not too outlandish. Pantone, the company responsible for predicting color trends in the home and fashion industries, did predict that the bright and sunny shade of mimosa would be the color of 2009, after all.

As for the polish, I'm not sure if I've embraced its hue quite yet, but I'm digging how Natalie chose to wear it with a crisp white shirt, simple blazer, and dark denim. This shade harkens back to the punky days of the late '70s and early '80s - skinny jeans and black and white striped t-shirt included. Thinking yellow might be in your forecast? Tips For Trimming Your Own Bangs

Kevin Mancuso is on a roll. Not only was the Nexxus Creative Director nice enough to share recession-proof hair color tips, he recently styled Natalie Portman's hair for the Oscars. Next up: his advice on trimming your fringe.

If women want to cut costs by trimming their own bangs, are there any good tips to ensure a good cut?

Women tend to only need one or two bang trims in between their full cuts. Since most salons offer their clients discounted (if not free) bang trims, I generally suggest leaving the cutting to the professionals. However, if you are dead-set on trimming your bangs at home, I recommend starting with dry hair. Separate out the front section of bangs that you want to trim and pull to a point in the center of your face. Twist the gathered hair three or four times. Cut straight across at the desired length. Try trimming on the long side at first to prevent over-trimmed, super-short bangs. The twisting will produce bangs that are slightly longer on the sides than in the middle and also give the ends a wispy look. The twisting also helps to prevent the over-trimmed look.

Angelina Gets Cuffed on the Set of Salt

Angelina Jolie's character Evelyn looked like she hit a bit of trouble in a Salt scene filmed in NYC earlier today. Her costar Liev Schreiber didn't look so happy in the scene. From climbing buildings to running from the law, It seems like there's never a dull moment on the set for Angie while Brad and the kids are having their own fun off camera. The family is in New York for now, but Brad just signed on for a romantic comedy with Natalie Portman so we'll have to see where the Jolie-Pitts are off to next.
