Lucy Davis and Anna Friel Beam With the Boys at BritWeek

A selection of British stars based in Los Angeles attended the champagne launch of BritWeek 2009 at the British Consul General's official residence in LA last night. The English celebrities will have been able to toast St George's Day together, and chat about what they love about Blighty. Lucy Davis revealed that her fitness routine includes British classics like the Jane Fonda workout, saying: "It makes me roar with laughter and that's why it's good". FHM's ninth sexiest woman Anna Friel attended with her partner, English actor David Thewlis, and told reporters she'd be happy to do a zombie film version of Pushing Daisies. Kenneth Branagh, Eric Idol and Lost's Naveen Andrews were amongst the other stars from the British Isles.

Lost Episode 8: "Meet Kevin Johnson"

This is it, folks! The last new episode of Lost until April 24. It gave us plenty to chew on and yet more crazy-making timeline twists. But is it enough to hold us over until Lost returns?

Can you tell how much I'm loving that we've gotten so much Desmond time this season (see image)? He didn't even have that many lines this week, but I just had to use this picture. Sigh.

Darn near everything there is to say is a spoiler, so to discuss this week's last episode for a while, read more.

This whole time when everyone's wondered where Michael went to and what he was doing, he was back in the U.S.! He was just living his life, Walt was fine and everything. Crazy.
So, Ben gets Michael off the island and back to New York, so Michael is not part of the Oceanic Six. Once I learned that, I had this hope that Sayid would be in the same situation (not in the Oceanic Six) and we'd still have another member of the Six to figure out. No such luck. And according to the final preview thingy at the end there, they said that we now know all the members of the Oceanic Six - and they flashed an image of Aaron. I guess he does count.

What's super cool about this episode is that it sets up the possibility for a number of people to get off the island, courtesy of Ben, as long as they work for him. This - and the flash-forward device they've started using - provides more options when creating storylines, rather than just being stuck on the island and seeing peoples' flashbacks. I like it.
For whatever reason, I totally thought Claire would be the one to die this week. I never suspected Rousseau, but then again, I often forget about her entirely. It's a shame she died, I really liked her.
Poor, tortured Michael. I feel for the guy, he's so miserable and haunted and he can't do anything about it.
That Miles has some sassy lines this week! He's fast becoming another character I love to hate.
There is something so fishy about the whole thing with Ben sending Rousseau, Alex and Karl into the forest. He gives Rousseau such a meaningful stare when he says, "Your mother will protect you," and he'd been glaring at Karl just before he gave them the map. I almost think that he arranged this somehow in order to get rid of Karl because Alex is "his." In the jungle when Rousseau is telling Alex to take her hand and that she loves her, her eyes are full of tears, like she knows what's coming. The whole thing is sad and eerie.
It's heartbreaking to see Michael pawn the watch Jin eventually gave him in order to buy a gun. A gun that doesn't even succeed in killing him.
So, Tom's gay. And he can just "come and go" between the island and the mainland as he pleases. This newfound info makes me want to go back and watch all of Tom's scenes again.
I'm glad they explained where they came up with all those bodies for the fake Flight 815 wreckage, but Tom talking about all that - the cemetery in Thailand, etc. - made me queasy. It's so morbid.
That bomb trick is cruel. "Not yet." I would have laughed if I weren't so exasperated.
"There are people on your boat who are innocent. . . I will not kill innocent people." Really, Ben? Because I'm pretty sure you will.
Again with the "good guys" label: "Then consider yourself one of the good guys."
Sayid tells the captain that "Kevin Johnson" is not who he says he is. I kind of expected the captain to just be like, "Yeah, I know."

Movie Preview: The Brave One

I saw the trailer for The Brave One before seeing The Invasion recently and was instantly intrigued. Not only do I appreciate that Jodie Foster is at the center of this drama, but it also stars Terrence Howard who always turns in compelling performances (his role in Crash moved me to tears, for one). Naveen Andrews from "Lost" also stars. Most of all, however, I'm curious about the subject matter.

Foster plays radio host Erica Bain who falls victim to a horrific beating that her fiance (Andrews) does not survive. She purchases a gun and becomes obsessed with finding her attackers. Yet now armed with the gun, she starts to use it on various violent perpetrators she encounters in the city. Howard plays the official on the hunt for this "vigilante," unaware that she's right in front of him. I'm fascinated by this story mostly because any woman who lives in a city - especially anyone who has been attacked in some way - can relate to the sense of powerlessness and the desire for revenge, or at the very least the desire to never feel powerless again. Variety has a really great interview with Jodie Foster all about these issues her character faces in the movie.

VarietyAsiaOnline is reporting from Cannes that "Lost"'s Naveen Andrews and Parminder Nagra from "ER" and Bend it Like Beckham will star together in Fallen Hero, a movie about an Indian soldier.
NME has the rundown of the first Smashing Pumpkins show since 2000.
Reuters brings us news that Mike Meyers will star in the remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
USA Today has the story of the guys who wrote that cheeseball "Idol" single.
Andrea Bowen, better known as Julie on "Desperate Housewives," is starring in a Lifetime Original Movie about a teen girl with HIV, writes the Futon Critic.
Ethan Hawke's next film Hottest State already has an awesome soundtrack, with songs by Norah Jones, Feist and Bright Eyes, among others, reports Billboard.
Bob Barker's final episode of "The Price is Right" will air June 15, both during the day and in prime time, Zap2it reports.
Variety says indie films are doing better than ever at the box office.

Robert Downey Jr. Makes One Brave Fashion Choice

While the Toronto Film Festival rages on up north, last night in Manhattan The Brave One premiere was its own little party. The films stars - Jodie Foster, Terrence Howard, and the gorgeous little Zoe Kravitz all graced the red carpet. Unfortunately for Terrence, his snappy fedora was completely upstaged by Robert Downey Jr.'s ridiculous striped one (zebra is that? nice), who was out to support his wife and the movie's producer, Susan Levin. Speaking of the awesome RDJ, check out the first trailer for next summer's Iron Man! Looks pretty awesome, right?

Grindhouse Coming to a Theater Near You

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's double-feature of sex, violence, and gross-out humor, Grindhouse, premiered in LA last night. The film was reportedly so offensive that scenes had to be cut to avoid a NC 17 rating, but the trailer shows us that it will still be a stomach churner. Eva kept it casual while out to support her friends, but obviously was fine to let the other girls shine. Rose McGowan is always up for that task and worked her black hair magic on the red carpet. We're not sure we have the stomach for this one, but we're always happy to see glammed up stars.

Young Hollywood Gets Some GG Love Too

Most of young Hollywood may not have been at the awards but that doesn't mean they couldn't be at all the after parties. Especially when you are Paris Hilton. It's not like she is ever going to win a GG (oh wait she is taking acting lessons) but she certainly would not miss a good party. Paris was one of the many in metallic that attended the The Weinstein Company party at Trader Vics. There she was able to rub shoulders with those who were lucky enough to make it in - like Vanessa Minnillo who changed into a different dress for the occasion! We liked Mischa's very put together look but once again, we are not feeling the Rosario Dawson bangs.

The Men Go Old School At The Golden Globes

Well what is there to say about the men? They clearly went for a super traditional tux this year considering they all look the same in the photo below. You can tell the only major fashion decision this year was black bow-tie or just a tie. But, I guess that's what you get when you get the classiest men in the industry walking the red carpet. These are guys who are old school or at least want to be remembered that way. While most people will be talking about Brad, Ben, Patrick and Leo, we must say one of our favorites of the night was John Stamos. We don't know what Rebecca Romijn was thinking when she ended that marriage.
