Beauty Byte: Cheryl Cole and L'Oreal Get Blasted For Illusory Ad

The complaints are pouring in (13 of them to be exact) to the Advertising Standards Authority about the misleading images for the newest L'Oreal Elvive Full Restore 5 haircare products commercial and print adverts starring Cheryl Cole.

People feel that since Cheryl is wearing hair extensions in the ads, they aren't being portrayed as true. However, the complaints have so far been rejected based on the disclaimer in the commercials and the print ads that states that Cheryl's hair is "styled with some natural extensions." This, however, is not appeasing the public, as they don't feel this message is clearly portrayed.

What are your thoughts on these complaints? Do you think that L'Oreal should have been more up front about Cheryl's hair extensions so that people don't think they can have hair just like hers if they use the new Elvive Full Restore 5 range, or do you think that by including the disclaimer they have been responsible?

Normally it's Rihanna's hair style and hair color that changes with great frequency, but last night in London, at the launch of her new album, Rated R, it was all about the eyes. Wearing a bright, cool-toned fuchsia eyeliner on her bottom lash lines, she topped off the look with a contrasting warm gold shadow on the lids and feathery falsies on the top lashes. For a similar funked-up look, try Make Up for Ever's Aqua Eyes in Fuchsia Pink ($17). Hint: you could always line just the top for a more subtle effect. New Product Alert: VO5 Extreme Style

Think about VO5 and you probably think of its hot oil treatment. I remember using it in junior high with good results, and when I gave it another whirl last year, the same thing happened. It's a classic.

Less classic and more modern is VO5's new collection of hair styling products, Extreme Style. I wish it weren't doing that "extreme!" thing, which is too Mountain Dew for my taste, but what can you do? Besides, I'm more interested in what the products do. The seven-piece collection consists of hair spray, two mousses, conditioning spray, styling spray, gel and putty-all of which promise 24-hour hold without stiffness or flakiness. And at $3.49 each, they're a steal.
