My Little Pony Trotting Back to TV

The beloved '80s toy turned movie turned TV show, My Little Pony, is getting resurrected with a series set to air on the new Discovery-Hasbro kids channel.

Makes sense since My Little Pony is a Hasbro creation, but I have mixed feelings over this news. I was nutty for the toys growing up - I even had a tiny plastic pony tent that I used to pitch in my living room. And while I'm glad to see an old familiar friend make a comeback, I hope they don't turn it into some newfangled 2.0 version meant to look more slick, like so many other cartoons nowadays. Don't mess with a classic, people!

Fall TV Update: Eastwick, the Forgotten, and Life Unexpected

A few weeks ago I gave you guys a roundup of the fate of Fall's newest shows, but there's been some shake-ups in the industry this week. The first is sad news for Eastwick fans: the show has been canceled and will be gone after its first 13 episodes are aired. Lindsay Price just can't catch a break, can she?

Elsewhere on ABC, Christian Slater's The Forgotten is still ticking with five more episodes added to the season, but Let's Dance - the newest celebrity dance competition hosted by Kathy Griffin - is dead in the water. Apparently the show runners couldn't round up enough celeb talent, which is good news for those of you who are sick of all the dance shows.

Finally, the CW's newest addition to the prime-time lineup, Life Unexpected, has gotten a release date. The drama starring WB vets Shiri Appleby and Kerr Smith will premiere on Jan. 18, taking Gossip Girl's time slot while GG goes on a hiatus.

Whew! That's a lot to process all at once, but how are you feeling about these latest updates?

Can You See Rachel McAdams as a Villain?

I've been waiting for some kind of casting update on Spider-Man 4 for a while now, and this week rumors are flying about the franchise's newest bad guys. There have been whispers that the next film may feature two villains (male and female), and that Rachel McAdams is in talks to play Felicia Hardy, aka The Black Cat.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but I like the sound of this news; I'm a big fan of McAdams and I think she's too often pigeonholed into playing the nice girl (except for Regina George, obviously). What do you think - can you see McAdams as a villain, or do that big smile and dimples belong somewhere else (like on a new love interest for Peter Parker)?

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Sequel Confirmed

If it's bad, it'll just be drawn that way: '80s animated/live action classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is getting a sequel, 21 years after its release.

The film's director, Bob Zemeckis, has confirmed that a Roger Rabbit sequel is moving forward, and the original screenwriters are working on a script. Zemeckis is looking forward to using digital tools to update this new installment, which makes me wonder just how different this movie will look from the 1988 original. There are also no details yet on the plot or which characters will be returning - though I assume that Roger and Jessica Rabbit will be back, not having aged a cartoon day.

I'm very curious about this project, considering that the original director and writer are on board, but I wonder if the same humor will hold up; it could either be a total disaster, or a modernized take on the movie. What do you think of this news?

We got a double whammy of Matt Damon movie previews: Invictus and Green Zone, and the busy guy is in talks for the next Coen brothers movie.
What shows have been canceled, picked up for full seasons, or renewed? I racked up the results on my Fall TV scorecard and a late-week update.
I chit-chatted with some of my favorite TV stars this week; read my interviews with FlashForward's Sonya Walger and Parks and Recreation's Chris Pratt and Rashida Jones.
Many lovely ladies made movie casting news this week, including Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Biel, Diane Kruger and January Jones.
Michael Jackson's tribute doc This Is It premiered Wednesday, so I caught a show and gave it my review - and stamp of approval.
Good news for Hollywood's funnymen: Ricky Gervais is set to host the Golden Globes, while Steve Carell scored a role in a gold comedy, and Adam Sandler is going to play both Jack and Jill in his next movie.
The Office characters one-upped their own show with the webisode music video for "Male Prima Donna" by Subtle Sexuality.
The Martin Scorcese biopic is full steam ahead, with Leo as the top choice for both you guys and Martin Scorsese.

Lots More Apple Tablet News, but Do You Care?

The mystery surrounding the Apple Tablet is hitting a fever pitch, and this time word is that Apple is shopping the yet-to-be-seen Tablet to Australian developers to gauge interest. In other news, you can now buy SIM card trays for a so-called iTablet online, but then again, a New York Times editor supposedly "spilled the beans" by calling it the Apple Slate in a recent speech. My head is spinning already!

I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a fan of Apple and its innovation, but I can't help but get the feeling that the more we talk about this product, the more we risk serious disappointment. Of course, there are those Mac fans that will buy whatever product Apple puts on the shelves, and are already making room on their desk for the Tablet.

For me though, I'll need to wait until the rumors become a reality before I start saving up for a new purchase. But it leaves me to wonder - are you totally enthralled in the minute-by-minute Apple Tablet news, or are you ready to ignore all the updates until a product is actually announced?
